As noted above check the fasteners for the inner fender well. My rattle disappeared after I discovered and tightened one of the SEMS type fasteners. The severity of my rattle increased if I was driving in a cross wind.

Way back in 1993, I had a Taurus SHO (black), that 2 months old, the paint started to blister all over the car. Went to the dealer, they sent it out to a body shop they use, and the place had the car for 3 weeks. Paint was stripped down chemically washed, reprimed, and a pain t job done that was superior to the original that was on the car. If your sisters dealer doesn't cooperate, try contacting a zone manager, if you have them in Canada, and have the car inspected.

As Dingo mentioned, option for option, the Edge is definitely less expensive. However, the Explorer offers a couple options that you can't get in the Edge, such as 3rd row seating and cooled seats.
