  1. I literally went out last week to take a look at the 2017 Ford Edge Sport in Blue Jean. Surprisingly loved the color. But nothing beats my 2011 Kona Blue. Now I see that the 2018 will come in Lightning Blue. Doesn't sound good to me. I hated the Impact Blue (too much purple involved). Was planning a new 2018 purchase next Feb/Mar and now I have to wait to see what this new blue looks like. #FORDBRINGBACKKONABLUE

  2. Preach It, I Actually Have About The Same Issue. I Trouble ShoT Mine When I Was Using The Auto And The Driver Side Would Turn Off after Start Up, Now The Driver Lo Beam Itself Is Dead Because I Swapped Back Thinking LOw Voltage Killed The BallAst. Heard Someone On The board Say Mine Could Be A Fuse Since Totally Dead But Learned My Lesson With The Auto Headlight.

McClellan so what exactly is this auto headlight that you linked to? Is it specifically for better handling of the auto headlight setting in our vehicles?

  3. if you are using auto lights, try doing just turning them on manually. I know with auto sometimes one of my lights would go on then go back out. I would have to turn the lights off for a few seconds then turn them back on and it would come on. I have resorted to not using the auto feature anymore since having HIDs is a lot nicer than lights that turn on and off on their own. What was Ford thinking not giving the Sport model HIDs?

HEAR HEAR! Unfortunately, I bought the car used. It's a 2011 Sport. I stupidly just assumed the lights were HID. Found out after the purchase. But I agree. How could the Sport not always include the HIDs?

  4. Well after a valiant effort, I simply can't get my hands in there to take the bulbs out. Specifically on the drivers side where the rear of the lighting housing is blocked by the fuse box. I removed the fuse box, but still couldn't get my hands in the hole to remove the bulb. So I'm SOL at this point. I'll have to find a 3rd party custom shop to take a look which is going to suck because the place that installed them originally is no longer in business. Ugh.

  5. Hey Guys,

I was just wondering if anyone has considered or successfully implemented adding automatic (or manual) pop-out venting feature to rear quarter panel windows in the 2011-2013 Ford Edge? I would absolutely LOVE this mod, but can't find any kind of kit or anything to even consider it. So now I'm turning you guys - the one who will know if this exists or not. Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Ron

  6. Hey guys, thanks for all the input. Sorry that it's been a bit since I was here (Holidays and all). Unfortunately, I'm just not car techie enough to really try this stuff. I'm going to try to change the bulb from one side to the other today. So far I can't seem to get my fingers in the darn housing where the bulb lives. On top of that, this whole ballast warning has me afraid to touch anything. I don't want to get shocked. With that said if there is anyone in the Seattle area that knows this stuff, I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to bring my car to you to help me troubleshoot this. The folks that originally installed this unit will be available to me on 1/6, but I'm anxious to get it fixed before I get pulled over for a blown out headlight. Any takers? In the meantime, I'll try my luck at swapping the bulbs.

    Thanks,

    Ron

  7. Hey guys, I'm hoping that someone here can help me out. Back in May, I installed a 3rd party HID kit (Retro-Solutions http://retro-solutions.net/product-info.php?55W_DIGITAL_HID_KIT-pid664.html ). It's been working just fine up until a week or so ago. Now only my passenger side light works. The driver side light does a quick flash at turn-on, but then fails to light. (I would assume this means the bulb is OK, but something is keeping it from loading. I checked all of the connections today and found nothing. Pulled down the wiring diagram (attached) from website and reviewed it, but don't see anything that I didn't already check. I did notice that there is only one fuse in use just before the battery, so there aren't fuses for each ballast. Is it possible that only one light would stop working due to a fuse issue? Here's why I ask. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was in the Ford Dealership and they detached my battery to reset my SYNC that was going haywire. That's all working now, but now I have this light problem. No clue if its related but thats the only possible connection that I can make as to why it may have stopped working. I have no evidence that it stopped working right after the battery detach, but it's kinda fishy that I noticed the light out a few days afterward. I haven't swapped the bulbs yet because I'm not that technically inclined on this stuff, but I'm guessing that's the next step. But I thought I'd check with you guys for any "experienced" input in case someone has had this very problem before. Thoughts?

    Thanks!

    Ron

  8. Wow. That should work but that's a lot of hacking and in the end it's still just a Garmin. And it's not portable to another vehicle.

Is there a problem with Garmin? I thought they were considered the best? On the portability side, there's also a Nav-TV NTX54 STANDALONE unit that works on multiple systems. The NTX54-FORD is directly due to the necessary working with Ford/Microsoft Sync. I'm actually quite interested in this offering.....

  9. Or just spend $799 and go this route.....

NAV-TV has announced the first add-on kits with Garmin navigation for factory MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch Radios.

NAV-TV's NTX54-FORD can add Garmin City Navigator Mapping with turn-by-turn navigation to any Ford or Lincoln vehicle equipped with the MyFord Touch or MyLincoln Touch infotainment system. It allows users to display Garmin navigation onto their existing infotainment screens controlled via the factory touch-screen. The NTX54-FORD may be added to any Ford or Lincoln vehicle those infotainment systems.

  10. Later today at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Ford will take the wraps off the Ford Edge Concept. The Edge Concept features some advanced technologies that will likely appear in the redesigned Ford Edge some point next year. Along with the Range Rover Evoque-esque styling, the Edge Concept features some advanced driving technologies that will demonstrate how Ford is advancing with its autonomous car technology.

    Rest of story and pictures!

  11. As far as I know, the Edge already has HIR2 bulbs as standard equipment. So the sheild issue is already covered. But I think that the bulbs you purchased would be the same as those already installed, in other words, there wont be any improvement.

Thanks Omar, I'll give 'em a try and find out. I hope they're not the same bulbs. That would suck. :-( If anyone here knows what super white or that type of bulb would fit, I would appreciate it. These seem to be very hard to find. No one seems to do the super white, super brite type bulbs for the 9012/HIR2 bulb size.

  12. Hey everyone,

I'm turning to all of you here since you all seem to know a HECK OF A LOT about replacement lighting for our Ford Edge vehicles.

I just bought a 2011 Ford Edge SPORT 2 weeks ago and just purchased new brighter halogen bulbs. I bought the new Philips 3rd Generation 9012 (HIR2) bulbs.

One thing that I had a bit of concern about was this "warning" on the label:

Application notes This new Philips bulb is physically, electrically, optically, and legally compatible with all previous 9012 (HIR2) bulbs, so it can be used for all the same design-specification, replacement, and upgrade applications. It can replace the 9006 (HB4) for special-service use; such a retrofit requires minor modification to the bulb base as described hereLike all previous HIR2 bulbs, it does not have a blacked-out tip, which means it should not be used in road going headlamp or fog lamp designs that don't have a bulb shield completely covering at least the top half of the front of the bulb — a ring-style bulb shield that leaves the front of the bulb exposed to the lens is usually not sufficient.

The problem that I have is I have no idea if my vehicle has this "bulb shield completely covering at least the top half of the front of the bulb". Do I need to return these bulbs? :hyper: Please say no. I want to do this NOW! LOL.

    Here's a link to the bulb: http://store.candlepower.com/ph3rdge90h.html

    Thanks,

    Ron

  13. Hi, just joined the forum today. I traded in my 2008 GMC Acadia for a 2013 Ford Edge Sport almost two months ago. I love how the Halos look and would be interested in getting some for my Edge. I hate how the Sport doesn't come stock with HIDs.

I know right? I mean it's the top of the line vehicle, why would they put Halogen's on this mean machine! I purchased mine with the assumption that they were. Found out a couple of days after the fact that they were not. :-( And I'm guessing this isn't a dealership upgrade.... right everyone? :-)

  14. Search for HIR (with an R) bulbs. They are much brighter & illuminate better. They are some times reffered to as 9011 & 9012.

Yes I've narrowed it down to the HIR2 or the 9012, but I can't seem to find this bulb in any of the "extra white" type bulbs. The stock halogen bulbs are insanely inadequate if you ask me. Can anyone tell me if they've updated their headlight bulbs to one of the "extra white" bulbs, and if so, what brand, model were the bulbs? Thanks all! :-)

  15. Hey guys, maybe you can help me out here as well. I just bought a (new to me) 2011 Ford Edge SPORT last week. Unfortunately I made a stupid mistake and didn't realize that the car didn't have HID lights. So I just have halogens. :-( Oh well. But I want to replace the crappy OEM bulb with something like the PIAA Xtreme Whites. But weirdly enough PIAA has bulbs for the 2007-2010 and the 2012-2013. Yay! 2011 is absent. Anyone here know why this is? Is the H/L headlight bulb in the 2011 really different than the 2007-2010 and 2012-2013? I'm hoping you experts here will know. :woot:

  16. Hello Everyone!

Last week I picked up my new 2013 Ford Edge Sport. My baby is Blue and she's beautiful!

Fully stocked except for the rear dvd system (no kids, and my dog just doesn't care). :hyper:

So far I'm having a blast driving it. Often looking for places to just GO. Admittedly my gas mileage sucks as I'm definitely not driving like normal. So I'm hoping that as I calm down, so will the gas mileage. LOL

I traded in my Chevy Avalanche which was a lot of fun for me. It was my first truck and I loved it.

Prior to that I had an Infinity 2006 FX45 and before that a 2000 Lexus GS400.

This is my first non V8 vehicle, and my first DOMESTIC new car.

I'm actually quite happy to support our economy and to purchase American! This car ROCKS. The My Touch, the fit and finish. The styling. Ford is doing things right!

I'll keep you all updated as I go, but for now I have a lot to read in this forum. Planned updates - tinting front windows, window deflectors, clear bra. And then later, I'm likely going to have to pump up the sound system with an additional amplifier and some more high end speakers. Should be fun!

    :headspin:
