  1. I have a 2011 Edge Sport and I am going to be driving up to the mountains for a snowboarding trip, where chains may be required.

I can't find good solid information on what to use for this vehicle.

I see things that say "Never use chains, only cables" and then I see things that says Ford doesn't recommend chains OR cables. So what am I supposed to do in this case? I do not have a AWD vehicle.

I know whatever I get will be expensive because of these big tires, but that's half the reason I love this model

If anyone has any advice, please let me know.

  2. I'm coming from a 2008 Edge LTD, and considering a 2011 Sport or LTD.

I'm leaning toward a Sport for the paddle shift options and I hate the chrome grill. Someone above said you can't get the homelink opener on the Sport. I can't find this info on the Ford website.

I also see you can't get the roof rails (I don't want a vista roof--I need the rails for snowboards). Does anyone know about this? I am sure I could get aftermarket rails of some kind I suppose.

Also, the Sport will probably win out in the longrun cause it just looks so awesome!

Thanks for any advice and/or help anyone can offer.

  3. I'm in the same situation, so I'd love to hear what you have chosen.

I'm going to go with the AWD---I'm tired of putting on cables to go to Mammoth or even Big Bear when we have a good snow.

The FWD will require chains/cables when CHP is stopping those people from going up the mountain!

  4. I have an 2008 Edge w/ Sync and it works great with bluetooth streaming of my tunes via my iPhone.

My lease is up, and I'm considering a 2011 Edge but was checking out the syncmyride.com website and it has a downloadable PDF file listing what phones are compatible with Sync.

For the iPhone it does not have a checkmark by the "Streaming" or "Text Message" features. My 2008 does not support text messaging either, but it DOES support bluetooth streaming.

I would be really bummed if they took the bluetooth streaming feature AWAY. Can anyone let me know if theirs works for bluetooth streaming or if their printed list of supported phones is just incorrect?

Thanks! I'm going for a 2011 Edge Sport!

  5. Call Ford. Several years ago I wanted to buy a Chrysler Town & Country with the sport suspension. Dealer said it could not be ordered on the Limited model. I called Chrysler and they phoned the dealer with instructions on how to place the order.

Thanks for the tip! I'm meeting with the dealer this week so I'll try to grill him first to solve the issue, but if that doesn't work I'll take your advice.

  6. My 2008 Edge LTD lease comes to an end in April and I'm considering a 2011. I'm excited about the MyFord Touch and the new Sync Interface.

I really like the SPORT model, but I totally love the Bordeux Reserve Red Metallic color and it's NOT available on the SPORT.

I really don't want a LTD, because of all that chrome...but I suppose it would be too expensive to paint the car the color I really want.

I'm also a little disappointed that the Sport doesn't have the Sienna seat colors. I guess I'm destined for a LTD, but I'll definitely HAVE to paint that grill.

Anyone else have any suggestions? Is there ANY way to get a color not listed as available from Ford on that model?

    Thanks!

  7. :banghead:

WOW! I am PISSED! I recently checked the outside temperature the old fashoined way..comparing the car thermometer to an outside office building display thermometer and came up with a 4 degree difference! DING DING DING! You should NEVER get that big of a difference of temperature!

SO....I checked the temperature starting with a local TV station time/temp phone number. SURE ENOUGH, over 4 degrees that it was not the same.... My wife has a Honda with a inside temperature readout. We drove down the road and checked the temperature on that and then took the Edge on the same trip...SURE ENOUGH! It is NOT right!. This makes the outside temperature from the Edge look warmer than it actually is!!!!!! WHAT A SCAM! What can I do about this?

Check yours and report back...maybe it is just mine that is MESSED UP! :redcard: Man, am I MAD!

Wow, I can't see getting this upset about this, sure a little ticked off, but can't you just adjust in your mind 4 degrees and shrug it off? It's not like it's randomly incorrect.

I think a lot of things would affect temperature also. Whether you're driving at the time, in the sun, shade, where the office building's thermometer is (Not usually the BIG WHITE NUMBERS you see displayed), etc. In fact, the phone TV station temperature thing you called could be giving you a reading from the airport, 5 miles away....

If that's all that's wrong with my EDGE I'll be a happy customer!

  8. Hi Tom. :D It is just my opinion, but it is hard to get an accurate view from pictures. I would recommend you go to your local Dealer and just look at the various colors in actual in-stock vehicles.

You will get a much more representative idea there.

Or, you can wait for someone to possibly post pictures that aren't too dark, too light, taken with a cheap camera, poor lighting, etc, etc.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck! :beerchug:

Thanks BBF, good advice. When I got to the dealer and looked at them both, i decided to go with........BLACK! I didn't like either one as much as I did the black.

Unfortunately I was supposed to pick up my Edge today, drove 1 hour to the dealer, and someone came in 10 minutes before me and bought the one they had set aside for me. Apparently "we don't hold vehicles" even though the salesman knew I was on my way.

Now they are looking at dealer trade, and claim they will DELIVER it to my house or office. We'll see!

  9. Thanks for the info guys,

Here's the official answer from SIRIUS:

    Dear Tom,

We appreciate the time you have taken to contact us regarding the SIRIUS

Traffic service in your 2008 Ford Edge. We're here to assist you!

Tom, we're glad that you are interested in SIRIUS Traffic for your 2008

Ford Edge. At this time, in-car factory installed SIRIUS Traffic

compatible navigation systems are currently offered on Chrysler, Dodge

and Jeep vehicles. Aftermarket navigation systems that are compatible

with SIRIUS Traffic are available from Alpine and Eclipse.

The Alpine system requires the SIRIUS SIR-ALP10T SIRIUS Satellite Radio

plus traffic tuner and the Alpine NVE-N872A navigation system with a

monitor. The SIR-ALP10T is distributed through Directed Electronics.

The NVE-N872A is available through Authorized Alpine Dealers nationwide.

SIRIUS Traffic systems will soon be compatible with other vehicle

manufacturers and aftermarket partners. We apologize for any

    inconvenience this has caused you.

    Have a great day!

  10. Well, tomorrow I'm going to pick up my new EDGE Limited AWD! Very excited.

I'm coming from a Mustang with a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 aftermarket installed Navi. I also had the XM radio with XM traffic reporting. This was a really great feature.

I know the Edge has Sirius, but it looks like Sirius also offers the traffic service. Does anyone know if I can add some hardware to my Edge Navi system that will allow it to receive the Sirius traffic data?

In SoCal, traffic data is very important!!

    Thanks,

    Tom

  11. The new incentives on EDGE are $1750 dealer cash for leases and $2000 dealer cash on a purchase. These are good through 3/31/08. As my dealer pointed out, if you order a car, you can not lock in the incentives that are out now. If the car were to come in AFTER 3/31 (not likely if you ordered right away) you would get whatever incentives are new. I decided on black with black leather interior, so I think I can find a dealer trade and won't have to wait.

Test drove it yesterday, dealer is offering me a fully loaded LIMITED $500 over invoice. I think I'm going to pull the trigger!!

  12. Hey guys, apparently if you get the panaramoic roof, you can't get roof rails on the EDGE. I need to carry a couple snowboards, so I was wondering if you can somehow add one of those rear racks like on this jeep.

There's obviously no tire to mount it too, but does the Edge have the mounting capability underneath?

    Thanks!

  13. I am trying to figure out which color is which for interior, and from the Ford website I can't tell which I like best from their swatch of interior colors.

Does anyone have a photo of their actual interior in Camel and one in Med. Light Stone so I can see the full seats and not just a swatch color and compare?

If anyone can post this I would really appreciate it. I'm seriously considering an Edge now that my Mustang lease is up.

    Tom
