  1. HA...I WAS RIGHT!!!!

I posted earlier about my sunglasses not seeing correctly and how everyone just laughed in my face about this! The 1st Wal-Mart I went to blew me off and laughed!

BUT, turns out, I WAS CORRECT. They have ordered a new pair...my wife went with me to let them know that we WOULD be taken seriously this time...and whadya know? THey took us seriously!

I know they couldn't believe that they were seeing things wrong but when they checked, they were STUNNED! HA HA!

So, said all that to say this...trust your instinct and force the issue if you have too! If I had just lain down and let it pass, my eyesight would have been messed up and I would have fell victim to the vast Wal-Mart conspiracy. They are even going to give me an extra pair free of charge due to the fact that they were wrong!

Just another life lesson...don't let ANYONE make you feel badly or ridicule you about something you are sure of!

    Have a GREAT day everone!

Lady, you are rediculous thus a perfect mark for redicule.

  2. There is a TSB covering this issue with the AWD case. The design of the case was changed to help avoid overfilling (dropped the height of the filll plug.) I doubt very seriously that there will be any kind of Ford recall, notification program, etc. concerning this issue. The unit is filled for life. Once it has "overflowed", the fluid is at the correct level. Rinse and wipe off any oil that came out and the vehicle is good to go.

I think the service writer failed to read the TSB or they would have come to the same conclusion. I also doubt the overflow valve was defective, sounds like it did what it was supposed to do. The Tech may have replaced it just to get paid for his/her time cleaning up the "overflow" oil. If Ford requires return of the "Defective" part, and they find it not to be "defective", the dealership will not be paid on that warranty ticket. If the part is not on the return list, then Ford pays for another unjustified repair.

This is another thread that starts out with all the drama generated by a corner lube guy, etc. and progresses to a service advisor suggesting there will be a massive recall. I point this out, not to suggest anyone on this forum is wrong, because they can only go by what they have been told, but to advise all of us that things are not always what they seem to be. I don't want anyone to fear that there is a problem with their vehicle that will affect it's near term and/or long term performance as it relates to minor overfilling of the case.

    Nice post!

What did I say? It was nothing more than a little spillage, nothing serious at all and boy did it get out of hand before a real answer was given.

  3. I use to be a SCT dealer myself. Getting a tune does make your car run alot more efficient. IF you get the SCT custom tune. Your basic Diablo and Superchips tuners are generic. CAI, and tune will allow for better gas mileage and performance.

    Kevin

Not to throw flames but Diablo and Superchips are not generic, Especially Diablo.

  4. Turbonetics will be developing a turbo kit for the Duratec 35 for this upcoming SEMA event. It will be fitted for Edge and Fusion!

"Yes, we do have an update. The kit will be developed for a SEMA show introduction, but there will not be anything to release publically until we get closer to September and the kit is completed. It looks as though we will have the Edge as well as the Fusion.

Stay in touch and I will do my best to feed you any info I can let out. "

  5. Ours pulls to the left. Dealer said it was the crown of the road. I told them that it would go to the right then. I double checked air PSI in tires and let it be. Thought it could maybe be front wheel drive steering torque. Where can we get more info on these TSB?

Did they drive the vehicle to confirm this or not?

A crown in the road can work for both sides. A little drift to one side is nothing to worry about but a strong pull needs attention. Unless you are driving on an airport tarmac you'll probably not be traveling perfectly straight.

  6. It was confirmed on the BON forum that the D plan is, in fact, the best a non-Ford employee can do. It's a couple hundred more than the A plan. Looks like I'd better start seriously looking at replacing my 2004 F-150.

Thanks again for the tip to try and find out on the Blue Oval News forum!

D-plan is not just for anybody, its for Blue Oval Certified Dealership Employees and their immediate families. You need to check the rules.

The pricing is definitely not always the same as A/Z-plan, more like in the middle of X and A/Z for some models.

  7. IF you dont use the parking brake, then it will roll a little, just like every other automatic i have driven (probably 100 different cars), however when you put the parking brake on it doesnt move. The movement in park allows the mechanism to lock up, the parking brake just applies the brakes, hence less movement. I never park without the hand/emergency/foot/parking brake as i hate that knock noise and feeling most autos give when you try to disengage park and shift into a gear, cant imagine if that is doing some damage somewhere, but most people do it regardless.

  8. Well.. I have my Edge for week now - and the computer calculated mileage starts out high and drops every day that I been driving. I drive a mix of city and highway.... still to early to tell.

From what I read on the forums - its mixed.. but most have said it gets better over time and is much better on highway.

Ya know.. Its a great vehicle... fun to drive... smooth and quick. If you can get past the mileage issue... you will have no regrets.

Again, I should point out that if gas mileage and prices are such a concern you should probably look at another vehicle... perhaps a hybrid escape for example.

the vehicle can get what is advertised and will differ based on your personal style of driving. I got 330 miles to my last 19.3 gallons in the tank and I drive almost always on the street and for many short trips since I only have a 3 mile commute to work. My 17 mpg for moving 4400 lbs makes me happy. I am a 24 year old male and my friends say I drive slow, I should also add that I accelerate using cruise control, even off the freeway.

I still only have less than 1300 miles on it. Should I also add its AWD...

Lastly, look at the other vehicles that compete with the Edge and MKX and check out what kind of mileage they get, quite a few get worse or equal fuel economy ratings and very very very few get any better even when taking into account the weight. We have the heaviest CUVs of the bunch, our engines create great power on 87 octane and yet we still can get above average fuel economy.

    We get good gas mileage!

  9. We are seriously looking at a Ford Edge, but have found two vehicles in Saskatchewan with 03/07 manufacterers date with faulty roofs. The roof seems to power out and stall in open position. We checked others on the lot and they were fine. Is there a recall on this roof? We are wondering if it is a stoke of bad luck or good fotune.

i havent had any issues with mine.

Does this power stall occur during normal operation of the roof and then just becomes unusable? Normal operation of the roof has 2 stall positions when opening and closing, they are predetermined at the factory level.

  10. If not having Home Link is a deal breaker tell the sales person this and they would probably install the mirror with Home Link for free.

or you could just spend the extra money on it instead of taking the money out of the Salesperson's pocket...

These things dont have thousands of dollars of gross profit for the dealer, work your best deal on the car and then buy the accessories. That mirror isnt cheap, http://www.fordaccessories.com/product/For...passMirror.aspx

  11. I got my Edge in March and although the gas mpg is baddddddddd two new problems have surfaced.

There is a rattle coming from back seat area that the dealer can't find.

Also on AM radio station there is a lot of static that increases when the fan is turned up.

The dealer checked connections etc but can not fix it.

They tried the radio on another Edge and it did the same thing.

Other cars do not have the same problem.

    Can someone offer any suggestions????????

the gas mileage thing is your fault, take it easy on the pedal and change your style of driving. The advertised numbers are very obtainable. I can get 17/24 when I watch my driving.

I cant help you with the static but the rattle may be coming from the spare tire hold down.

  12. Don't know why early reviews of the MKX, they have the 20" chrome rims (like on Mark LT and Navigator - and forum main header photo above) installed on the vehicle, but its not even available as an option for it?

This is what really caught my attention for the MKX as the 20" wheels really make it stand out! When I asked the dealer about that option, it wasn't even available  . I even offered to pay extra for the wheels if they swapped it for me but turns out the 20" wheels on the Mark LT use the 6-bolt pattern whereas the MKX/EDge have the 5-lug bolt patterns, so this means those wheels can't be used on the vehicle.

I guess they were reviewing the pre-production model which had the 20"/6-lug bolt pattern before Lincoln decided on going with the 18" wheels instead (bad move!). I know aftermarket wheels could look good too, but anyone else here like myself who likes keeping it stock and the 20" stock wheels definitely would have given the MKX a more sophisticated look. Lincoln shouldn't have teased us with those nice 20" wheels !

18" wheels are fine, the Edge has the same size. If you want 20" wheels just buy them already, if you can afford an mkx (even a lease) you should be able to afford your own wheels. I want 22's myself and most will be happy with 18".

  13. I think I may know what the problem is.

I have a 2 week old MKX which did the exact same thing to me. Last Friday, after washing my car, I left it parked in front so it can sparkle in the sun. I went inside to cleanup the rest of the house and take a break. About an hour later I hear a car alarm going off outside and it goes on for about 5 minutes, I said to myself "Jeez! this idiot needs to go turn off his car alarm, I can't even watch tv!...", so I go to take a looksy outside to see who this poor fellow is and it turns out to be my own car :banghead:

I run outside and try disarming it but my key didn't work. Finally after holding my panic button on the key for a bit, it disabled the alarm. First thing that popped in my head was whether or not someone was trying to steal the car. So I circled around and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. After a few minutes of standing there stratching my head, it was time for me to go pickup my kid at the sitters.

I start up the car, then I noticed the message screen showing "rear right passenger door ajar". This probably explains why the alarm went off because the door was opened. So I go outside to check, but door seems to already been shut tight, so I just open/close it again. Get back in the vehicle but the message is still there. I get back out again and open/close the door a couple of more times, but the message doesn't go away. It was getting late so I brushed the problem aside and went pickup the kid.

On the way back, I stopped to fill up with gas, now because the "message" was still there, I couldn't check any other Info statuses at all on my info screen. I tried the reset button but it doesn't work either. So I'm standing out the gas station slamming my rear door about 20 times over. By this time my kid is screaming his lungs out from all the noise and onlookers are thinking I'm abusing him.

So I hop back in the car and drive back home still wondering what the heck is going on with this car. Halfway home, I stop at a stop sign and next thing I know, the door alert light turns off and the message goes away, WTF?! I was hoping Ashton Kutcher would jump out somewhere and scream "you just been punked!!!" but that surely didn't happen.

My theory is due to the hot weather messing up the door sensor, it triggered the alarm to go off. So in your case, because of the cold weather its possible your door sensor was out of wack too and this triggered your alarm. The dealership couldn't find any problems and they don't have any reports or even a clue to what happened. I'm betting there will be more reported issues regarding car alarms going off for no reason and this may hopefully lead to some type of fix or recall.

There isnt a safety issue so a Recall will not be posted, most likely just a TSB if its discovered from more owners...
