  1. Ok, So I have a 2013 Edge Sport. I just installed LED Switchbacks in the front These bulbs. I installed 50w 6Ohm resistors between the blue/green and black/green wires on the left and the yellow/purple and black/gray on the right which got rid of the hyperflash. But The problem that I am having is when the engine is off the amber leds flash the correct speed and consistent but if the engine is running they are unreliable and flash amber a few times and then white and then some times stay off for a few seconds or sometimes amber again and repeat that until I turn the turn signal off and then they turn back to while like they should. When the amber does flash its only amber for a very brief time almost like a strobe light. The rear turn signals which are still standard bulbs flash as they should.

Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this or should I get the bulbs replaced or try some different bulbs?

  2. I only got about 22,000 on my stock Pirellis also. Even had the dealer check alignment at 9,000 because they were wearing bad and the alignment was good. I rotated them on a regular basis as well. I put a set of the Yokohama Parada Spec X tires on my sport about 6,000 miles ago and they look brand new so far which they should of course. I had the alignment rechecked when I put them on and everything was in spec. I purchased the tires off Amazon for $863 for the set with free shipping and the dealer installed them, disposed of the old tires, balanced them, and put new valve stems in for $13 each. They had quoted $1350 to buy the tires and install them so I saved a little over $400 buying the tires my self and having them install them. Tirerack was about the same price but would have had to pay shipping for Tirerack.

  3. I'm replacing my original scorpion tires ASAP because they are shot. Worst tire I have ever had on a vehicle. 22k on my Edge and they are junk with cords now showing and I don't drive it like a race car. I rotate every 5 to 7k and the tires have had check marks on the outer tred since 10,000 miles and been noise since they got that way. I keep them at 35 PSI(check them atleast every couple weeks) and the center ring had cords showing through. Which to me seems like over inflation, which seems weird since the door jam shows 35psi and the tire shows 50psi. I'm parking my Edge till I can get new tires on it. Hopefully in the next couple days.

Thinking I'm gunna put the Yokohama Parada Spec X on. I'm deff not putting the Pirelli's back on.

Edit: Ford put my Edge on the alignment rack at 10k miles and said it was right at spec.

  4. I would hold off on Morimoto for a few weeks as they have been having issues and have a recall out for their SS series Ballasts. I purchased Morimoto Elite System with the 5Five SS ballasts 6K bulbs and the wiring harness and was having many issues with the lights firing when it was colder than 30 degrees F. I called TRS and they at first wouldnt believe it was a wide spread issue till they had other callers telling them the same thing at which point they decided to do a redesign on their ballasts and came out with the DSP ballasts and have since swithced out my ballasts to the DSP ballasts and have also replaced the bulbs because I was still having issues with firing after the DPS ballasts were put in. Since I have the DSP ballasts in and new bulbs I have very few failure to fire issues. TRS has replaced one of the DSP ballasts that i was still having issues with even after the replacement and its been ok since but now my other new DSP ballast is having issues firing. So I honestly dont thing they have the issue completly resolved with the DSP ballasts. I am sending the DSP ballast that they replaced back so they can troubleshoot with it but I now need to get another new DSP ballast to see if that will resolve the issue on my other one. So Since buying the 5Five SS system I have replaced both ballasts 1 and one of them twice and have also replaced both bulbs once and need to replace the other ballast again. The SS ballast were terrible in the cold and being in MN its cold. When it was below 30 degrees one of the 1 lights failed to fire 8 out of 10 time and now with the DSPs its probably only 1 out of 15 times so way better but still an issue.

I originally had 6K bulbs but asked TRS to send 5Ks as the replacement and I like the 5K bulbs better because they have less blue tinge.

I went with Morimoto because I didn't want to have to deal with failure to fire issues but am fighting with it anyways. TRS has done a great job with getting parts and working to get the issue resolved and pushed a redesign out pretty quick but like I said before I'm not totally sure its completely resolved yet. I'll be calling TRS again today to get them to send me another DSP ballast to replace the one I am still having issues with.

If you have the SS ballasts and have issues with the lights failing to fire i would call TRS and have them replace your ballasts with the DSP ballasts. Even if the issue isn't resolved they are way more reliable than the SS ballasts.

  5. So I have less than 10,000 miles on my Edge Sport that I got in May and my tires are wearing bad. I'm starting to get check marks on the inside of all 4 tires. I had it in this week for an oil change and they called and asked if I wanted to rotate the tires so I told them to go for it and they didn't say anything. I never looked at them until tonight and noticed they are getting checked.

Obviously I'll call and get an alignment done but thinking Ford should do an alignment for free and I almost think they should put new tires on as it had to have had a bad alignment from the factory.

    What do you guys think?

  6. I put the Ford flaps on the front and found a set with the ford logo for the rear from a local farm store. I dropped the front flaps about 3/4" from the B and J holes. Looks good and I wanted a little more protection for the painted side skirts living in the country.

  7. I figured no better time to post than while I'm sitting in the hospital waiting while my wife is in labor with our daughter. So pic was taken while in the hospital parking lot. Tank had 82.8 miles on it.

My trip doesn't have mileage on it. My trip only shows miles driven since last reset.

  8. I haven't been in to the door panels on my edge yet and haven't replaced a side window so can't offer much incite to doing it your self. I broke one on an older car and had a shop replace it however in MN glass coverage is full glass coverage and you don't have to pay your deductible.

Take a look at your window though. Mine and I'm guessing yours will also had dual pane glass with a layer of plastic in it. This is done to reduce the amount of sound that comes in and also should act like a windshield and if completely shattered the glass shouldn't completely fall out. You will probably want the same type of glass to replace it. If you roll the window down and look at the top if its dual pane you will see 2 different panes of glass.

  9. So I washed my just weeks old Edge this evening and noticed I have a small chip in the front of the hood. I about cried. I have been contemplating since I bought it to get a clear bra installed. Now that I know the paint on these things sucks I think I should put a clear bra on. It's sad a few week old Edge and I have a chip and my dad has a 2010 Audi A6 and we drive a lot of the same roads and the front of his car has no chips and looks like it was driven off the show room just yesterday. I still love my Edge and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Anyways, for those that have a clear bra installed what brand is it, how mush did it cost to have installed, would you have one installed again, and do you have any concerns or had any issues with it?

Has anyone installed one them selves? I have put a few vynal wraps on snowmobiles and a few vynal stickers on things but have never worked with the clear braw material. Is it pretty easy to work with?

  10. The front splash guards are from Ford and are black as I didn't want ford logos on the front flaps. The back ones I got from Runnings which is a local farm store?

I like the Ford logo on the back splash guards but sometimes I wish I would have just gone black.

  11. I put front and rear splash guards on my Edge. I personally think they helped keep dirt and mud off the side. I live on a gravel road and before I had the splash guards when it rained I always got lots of mud on the doors and I don't anymore. I put the Ford splash guards on the front and dropped the guards 3/4 of an inch from the B and J holes.

  12. How are those mud flaps working for you? Do the front ones really cut the amount of water thrown by your front tires when turning?

Today it rained and I drove down a gravel road and way less dirt got thrown up on the doors. I used the Ford flaps in front and dropped them 3/4 of an inch from the B and J holes. I am glad I put them on. I debated about going with the black ford flaps on back but decided to go with flaps with the ford emblem that I got at a local farm store.
