  1. I have the 2013 Edge Sport w 22" rims. I am looking to switch out the rims/tires for smaller ones with all terrain tires (just for the winter) and am being told this is not possible. True?

I was told the same thing by my dealer. They said switching out the tires and rims would void the warranty and could screw up the AWD system. Ive seen a bunch of people do it on here and other sites. Ive called a few other dealers and tire places and have gotten mixed answers.

  2. I have received a MyFordTouch LockPick for our '13 Edge Limited so that my wife can program the navigation (from the passenger's seat) while we're in motion. It also gives the capability to add a front camera which she thinks will be handy in some parking situations.

I have the factory service manual but it is less than helpful describing how to pull out the head unit. The two silver side trim pieces on the center stack must be removed followed by the console panel and then the HU itself. The Lock Pick then plugs into the back of the HU. The trim pieces are attached with clips but there is no indication of what direction to pull. Should I pry them off upwards or sideways? Start at the top or near the console box? I don't want to break the clips so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I installed mine last week using the video that was posted in this thread. U start by opening the center armrest and pulling the chrome trim up (toward roof) that starts underneath the the center armrest till those clips pop, where the chrome trim starts to bend upwards your going to pull towards you. Once those pop the trim piece needs to be angled up and will just lift out from under the dash. I pulled the video up on my phone and paused it step my step as i took the dash apart.

  3. For the love of god, those shaped "u" clips won't come off.....I did see the video of how Dan just pulls them off with a punch... But these clips must be on steroids..I have the edge se version so they come with a black fake drl so there is no space between the "u" clips. And the black plastic from the fake drl's.... I'm thinking of putting some grease on the sides of the "u" clips... To remove them......Has anyone had a hard time removing the clips, I pulled super hard but don't want to break the holder.. Any ideas?..

I had a little bit of trouble too. There are little spikes in the u clip that dig into the plastic when u pull them. The trick is like Dan showed in the video get a flathead and get between the u clip spikes and the plastic and they will pop right off. I tired a few different sized flat heads till I found one that worked well.

  4. Installed my lights yesterday and noticed something weird, when I turn on my lights without the car started only the drivers side strip will light up, not the passenger. when the car is started they both light up fine. Also when i lock or unlock the doors with the car off I do get both amber lights lit up. The only reason I noticed the passenger side not lighting up is I was trying to troubleshoot an issue with my HID's. Anyone else notice this, or is it just me.

  5. Wifi through your phone?

I have a spare phone with a unlimited data plan and use it as a hotspot. I used to connect it to a tablet i had mounted in my old vehicle, now with the Apple TV and airplay features I don't really need the tablet. Down the road I may try to to a custom mount for a iPad mini like soundman car audio did for that nexus 7 in the 2011 edge. I would only use it for google maps because i like it better then the factory nav.

  6. A little bummed but it is my fault. When we purchased new Edge I.....ASSUMED that the big navigation, a/m, f/m, siruisxm c/d player

was the same as in my 2009 F150. The one in the truck has the option in one of the screens that has a cd / dvd tab. Meaning

the truck will play a dvd that is put in the cd slot. Plays audio only when moving. The Edge does not have this. Hmmmmm.

It was pretty useful on a long road trip when we would listen to a movie or other dvd and when stopped to eat could watch it.

I read owners manual and it hints at using a flash drive or usb hook up to view something but have to look further. Oh yeah they do

mention an ipod or iphone video option....Don't have one. Just a little disappointed, but you know the wife is getting a lot of mileage

    out of this one.......... smh

Bummed me a little too, I had the same option in my 2011 escape. Not to mention my salesman told me it played dvd's. One work around is to pick up a cheap portable dvd player ($50 bucks from target) and use the AV ports in the center console to achieve what you did in your F150. I just order a Sync Lockpic which opens the functions thats are normally locked when in motion and working a setup with an apple tv.

  7. So I waiting to receive my Edge Sport but will be putting a hitch on it to tow a small utility trailer. I'm pretty sure im going to go with the Hidden Hitch 87617 for the hitch but for the wiring do most of you go with the T-connector harness such as the Draw-tite 118515 or do you buy the OEM Ford harness and wire it in?

Gurufarmer, Heres the part number for the OEM Harness Trailer Hitch Harness: Part# - DT4Z-15A416-A $75.00

  8. Trying these out from ebay. 60 LED, Type 1, 3157/3457, but no information on lumen output.

Should get them next week. They are longer than the original ones Cellbine uses, but with no tech specs who knows how they will work.

Very interested in the Daytimebrightlites Edge 2 since the price is much more economical but I'll wait on some reports before I plunk down 2 bills.

Please Let us know how they turn out, I saved the link but gonna hold off till I hear some feed back.

  9. Are you in the states or in England? Being that your name says Simmons and your picture looks like someone I know. Anyway as far as switchbacks are concerned I highly doubt you will find type 1s unless someone is selling there's off. I have seen where someone on here did do the visor lights and it was a big difference bit I guess that is up to each individual.

Im in the States, Ohio to be exact. I think your right about the switchbacks, last night I got an email back from VLEDS see below

"The type 1 bulb was discontinued. We only sell the type 2 now. There is an known issue with the new Ford Edge and F150 in that it has stray voltage flowing on the turn signal circuit (even when the turn signals are off). This does not allow the white to come on. Unfortunately we do not have an good option for you at this time. We are working on integrating the fix into our new V3 system. We hope to have a solution for new Ford owners in the next few months."

Guess I'm gonna have to wait to on them for now.

  10. I have a brand new 2013 Edge Sport picked her up 5/21, and I want to do a a full LED conversion, I've been reading through the forums and found a lot of great info so far but need a little bit of help. This is what i have put together so far:

    DAYTIMEbrightLites:

    -EDGE 2 Next Gen DRL's

-LED Puddle-Lights with License Plate LED

-LED Interior Lights (Map/Dome and Cargo Area)

    9006: Morimoto Elite HID System

    5Five (50w)

    3Five

    5000k

    9006

    Heavy Duty Relay

The trouble I'm running into is i can't find the Switchback LED's for the front that Cellbine has, seems all the links return a 404 Error, and I'm not sure which set replaces them if there no longer available. I think I want the Type 1's white/amber from what i read on here, because i just want plug and play and not have to install resisters. I emailed VLEDS a few days back and have yet to hear from them.

I'm also not sure what bulbs I need for the tail lights to completely switch them over to LED's (reverse lights/Brake/Turn signals) I think i wanna stick with VLEDS all around and probably 5000k to keep everything consistant.

And do guys think its worth it to do the visor lights?

I apologize in advance if I missed something I always try to search before posting a question but I'm having Knee surgery June 6th and hope to get everything done before.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions or if Im forgetting any bulbs I would really appreciate the input.

    Thanks
