when you shift your edge out of park, does the shifter itself make an occassional "clicking" sound? usually there is no sound, like all the other shift positions.
-
I take it that you already have the roof rails. If so, yes the cross bars are very easy to install. Just 2 screws on the end of each cross bar attach it to the roof rail.
yes, thanks
-
are they easy to install yourself?
-
have not noticed, but i'll pay more attention next time i drive it. i usually have the stereo blairing.
i didnt notice it in mine until i turned the radio off. the ford dealership said the sound comes from the AWD drive train (PCU????).....and that it is "normal" for the edge
-
when coasting down from 43 mph to 40 mph, can you hear a faint whistling sound that gets a bit louder as the trip proceeds?
-
if you have a AWD edge, do you hear this whistling sound????

edge side mirrors fold BOTH ways
-
well, a ford dealer mechanic said the nose comes from (he thinks) the AWD drive train, and that it is "normal." I do not agree. The service manager said they cant do anything unless it gets worse?!?!
Is anybody with an AWD edge hear this sound? a faint whistle like a bomb falling sound effect. It seems to get louder with trip duration. Suggestions?
Thanks.

any body else hear it in your edge?
-
thanks. yes, it's either that or the bearing. what's an RR?
-
you're right. it's apparently not from the road, but a noise from the wheel well.
-
anyone else experiencing excessive road noise from their edge, especially on highway driving? the sound is coming from the right rear area the most. is it the tires? muffler? what??? my edge is 2007 with 11.8K miles.

if you have factory racks.... your options via Thule and Yakima are endless.
are those better than the saris model? if so, why? thanks!
-
though a viable option, I am not a big fan of these models - had them in the past:
1. they require those straps that have those plastic coated hooks that get pushed into the quarter panel space which over time really seems to tweak paint and what not as they move about, get taken on and off and on and off
2. easy to steal
3. plus with the Edge, it seems that top strap most come over the rear sun shade and then down to the rack which seems like a LOT of downward pressure on that sun shade - which is not really a solid weight bearing object.
4. those straps can vibrate in the wind making whack noises
what about for an edge that has a factory roof rack? also, can this saris rack allow the hatch to open normally (when there are no bikes on it of course)? thanks!

thanks again!

this thread is even better - cost, hitches, time, reviews
-
anyone know about how much it would cost, including installation?
-
with no trailer hitch, which bike rack do you recommend?
-
-
anybody else hate em? it would be nice if they could be turned around!
-
does the 2007 SEL have daytime running lamps standard?
-
CONFIRMED: the 2007 edge side mirrors FOLD both WAYS!
-
is your edge a 2007?
-
yes, i meant folding OUT toward the front of the car. the escape's side mirrors do that (i know cuz I had one before the edge). nice for pulling out of the garage too close to the wall.
