  1. yeah, and nothing beats actually paying an extra $750 for those plastic crap "clad" wheels ;)

note to FORD: when you build & sell a car upwards of $30k "aka SEL Plus" (wheels do matter!)

I laughed at the sales manager ...when he tried to sell me the car on the lot w/ those plastic wheels and expected me to pay an additional $750 for them (LOL!)

I own several "real" Chrome wheels and you cant tell the MKX wheels are "Clad" until you touch them. If they are plastic they probably wont rust where real chrome wheels are a major problem in areas where they put down salt. Like here in Maryland. Also 750 is cheap ! Real chrome 20" wheels would cost much more. JR

  2. I have my Ipod touch plugged into my vehicle and it works really well...

BUT, when I choose the option to "play all" so it will actually start playing all my songs on the ipod, it does great until I turn the vehicle off. To simplify, It begins playing all songs alphabetically, so depending on how far I have to drive, I may be down to the songs that begin with the letter D...

After shutting my vehicle off and getting out, when I get back in and restart my vehicle it will still play the song it was playing before, BUT does not go back to the "play all" setting. So I have to restart the play all setting every time I return to the vehicle, and search go to the D's and then scroll down to where I want it to begin again...

Rather annoying. Is there a way it can remember to still "play all" when I return to my vehicle?

Maybe I just need to set it a different way?

    Any advice is appreciated...

    :)

There is no memory on any of the iPod functions, which is a joke. Its Microsoft on Apple...I'm sure the "Zune" works perfectly but no one owns a "Zune" I also have an Audi A8L that has an iPod connection and everything, including the playlists works perfectly so, they could make it work if they wanted too ! 3. OK, so I was on a straightaway in palo alto yesterday with a friend of mine on the way to breakfast, when a guy in a black 2007 escalade with a girl in the passenger side pulls up and gives me the "look." The light turns green and we floor it. I'm thinking he's got a lot of power, but he's also got a lot of weight. I get an early lead of about a half car length, from that point on we got and gave a few inches through 60 mph. at 80mph I looked back and he was still right there with me about a half car length behind. his passenger door was lined up pretty good with my left rear tire. a few secs later my friend leans over at the speedometer and goes "Wow, 105 thats the fastest I've driven!" I got to about 110 when we started breaking for the next streetlight. We laughed and waved farewell.

I was impressed. The Edge maintained the lead against the Escalade to 110 MPH. At first I was skeptical, but it is what it is.

I think its pretty cool that you raced him. Everyone is making a BFD about it (?)

  4. Has anyone thought of putting a bra on your Edge to try and minimize the # dings and paint chips on the front end? From past experience, the heavier leather bras tend to make the paint fade if you don't take them off and dry them periodically.

I'm seeing some clear bras on EBay for ~$25 that I may try out...just wondered if anyone has been there/done that. Thanks

I put the 3M film on mine. Much better than a "bra" IMO. "Bra's" are a pain in the butt whereas, the 3M film is invisible and is easy to keep clean. It can be waxed just like the paint and is slippery so, bugs, tar etc... wipe off easier tna paint.

You can look at my MKX with the 3M in my album "JR's MKX" see if you can tell its on. In any case, GOOD LUCK ! JR

  5. Louder - sure. Clearer - not so sure. I know some audiophiles who say the THX system is one of the best they've heard. If you're talking about being clear at extremely high volume levels then that's probably correct since the THX system is built for sound quality, not for decibels.

The ""audipohiles" are comparing other factory systems e.g. Audi's B&O, Lexus Mark Levinson etc... If you are willing to spend the money on a "serious" system with proper amplification and equilization control, trust me, you can do better. Otherwise, high end audio mfg's would be out of business. Dont get me wrong the THX sounds very good. It just needs more wattage (closer to 1000W overall) and more complete system controls. You dont simply put a treble and bass control and call it "serious" audio. Even cheaper head units have Eq. band capabilities these days. No subwoofer control is a major omission too. In conclusion, the THX is good but just needs the last few items buttoned-up to be incredible. They went this far... JR

  6. Well, like the title says, we are buying an edge today. We went in and spoke to them on Wednesday, and my wife picked out a Creme Brulee Limited with every option except navigation, rear DVD, and AWD. They have the same exact car in stock WITH AWD for $1800 more.

    1. Would you recommend going with AWD or not? Here in Tennessee, it really isn't necessary, but I always said that I would never own an SUV without it.

    2. We get X-plan price on Ford vehicles. The MSRP is $34,515 and X-plan price is $32,614. Can I realistically do better than this price?

She is going to take the $500 bonus cash and the 3.9% financing for 60 months. We are not trading in her 2003 Eddie Bauer 4x4 Ford Explorer, as that will become our kids' vehicle. Total amount financed, if she does not put anything but the $500 bonus cash, will be a little over $35,000 and monthly payment will be right at $630. That payment will be a real relief after 5 years of paying $750 a month for our Explorer, which was financed at 0% for 60 months. The only things I am not sure about are the AWD and the X-plan price. Any comments are welcome and don't worry about hurting my feelings. I'm pretty tough. Thanks in advance!

Get AWD for better resale value. For pricing go to edmunds.com ...you shoud be able to get the vehicle at invoice, I did ! JR

  7. I have several Two -Amp systems which I tuned and are much louder and clearer than the THX system in my MKX. It sounds good but, I am used to more wattage. 600 is good for a Sub but, not an entire system.

The adjustment is a "joke" too. The system should have at least a 7 band equalizer AND the ability to control the Subwoofer at a minimum.

  8. I wouldn't touch anything unless you're ripping it all out and starting over. The THX system is actually engineered and tuned specifically for each vehicle, and it is an entire system. Replacing pieces of the system would probably not work very well.

What is it about the sound that you don't like?

  9. Got an Edge last week. I have a 40G 4th Gen iPod click wheel and purchase songs through iTunes. Initially, SYNC wouldn't play any of the songs I purchased through iTunes, but I was able to solve this problem by converting all my songs from m4p to m4a files. I then updated all my playlists with the new files, but SYNC still won't recongnize any playlists. Everything else works fine. Anyone have a similar experience or know a solution? Thanks!

I have a mew MKX and the SYNC finds everything BUT the Playlists too. When I select Playlists, I get a "No Playlist Found" (?)
