  1. Yours is the engineering number. I posted the service part number.

After 30 years pushing this stuff, I still don't understand why they have to have both.

Have to have both? By that are you referring to the "engineer number"? Anyway i was able to install the redundant things. I had to cut about 20% out of them to get them to fit correctly. I would have sent them back but that would have cost me more money and that is just unreasonable.

  2. The ones I've used fit perfectly. Sounds like those aren't the right ones. Check the part number against fordparts.com.

The instructions claim that its for the Ford: edge, excursion, Lincoln XKX and Navigator. The guards are too deep to sit flush with the fender. They run right into that "bump" for lack of a better term, inside the wheel well. Where did you purchase yours from? Any pictures I might be able to see?

    Thanks

  3. Hey everyone, I recently bought some splash guards for the front wheels from " Fords parts discount outlet.com". Their FoMoCo, however I cannot for the life of me figure out their very poor instructions. Has anyone installed these before? Two of the holes they inform me to drill "hole U" do not exist and the fitment of the splash guard to the car is just awful. It sticks out too far and leaves a rather large gap between the wheel well and the guard. I appreciate any help.

    Thanks

  4. Just wanted to let everyone know that the transmission issue was corrected. Apparently there was a TSB on the issue. The dealership was able to correct it with a software update for the transmission. A special thanks to Todd "Fordservice" for his assist in getting my issue correctly quickly. Thanks again :hat_tip:

    Hey Normandy,

Have you been to the dealer for this concern? Let me know and I'll look down possible avenues of assistance.

    Todd

My wife took it in a few days after we bought it and informed them of the issue. According to her, they said that the transmission fluid was ok and if there were any issues, its under warranty. I looks like i may have to talk to them if i want it seriously looked at. What did you have in mind? Thank you for the reply.

  6. Any issues using the shifter itself, or gear shifts while driving? I was thinking some liquid spilled into that area, got under the console, and is jamming up mechanically or electronically. Did the dealer pull codes?

No, driving its great. Its only slow going from Park to anything else.

  7. Hi everyone, I noticed that when i change gears, i.e Park to Drive or Reverse, the gears are slow to change. Is this and issue on the edges? I had the wife take it to the dealer and they tell me the trans fluid is fine. Thoughts?

  8. One of the things I wanted to change on my Edge Sport was the chrome grille, there is no other chrome on the vehicle so I was checking for any kind of grille option and found that Ford sells what they call "painted grille inserts" I was not sure what the "inserts" would be but I ordered it anyway. When the part arrived I was happy to see that this is a factory painted Ford grille. They sell them in the Sport model colors (black, silver, blue & red) and also unpainted "paint to match" The grille came with instructions but was not a simple job (anyone that has changed there Edge grille knows what I mean)

The front bumper cover has to be removed for access to the grille bolts and tabs that snap into the bumper cover and grille frame. The hardest part was getting the old grille off of the grille frame and the bumper cover. It ended up taking me a couple of hours but once I was done I was very happy.

There was one problem I ran into with the new painted grille, it had long tabs on the back that had to be removed, I didn't find out until I had the new grille snaped into the bumper cover but I was able to remove them without removing the grille from the bumper cover.

I did a search with the part number and found the best price from http://www.partscheap.com/2009_Ford_Edge_G...8200-ad-e09.htm

Hey guys, I just bought a 2010 Edge and im thinking about changing the grill if i can find one. I tried to search for grills but all i can find are billets and as best i can tell a flat back insert. My Edge is white so i was hoping for a white grill. Does anyone know where i can find one.

    Thanks

  9. The main issue with the AWD is the possibility that the PTU will leak/overheat. Despite what Ford says, establishing a regular PTU fluid change interval should help longevity.

I do not have an SCT tune (yet), but when I communicated with Torrie at Unleashed Tuning, the tune can be optimized for MPG, or performance, or both. You may gain a few HP/TQ, but don't expect miracles. The beauty will be in how well the engine & drivetrain work together AFTER the tune. Plus you will be able to datalog, which can help the tuner (e.g., Torrie) refine the tune specifically for your Edge.

I see, Now i've been trying to find any issues with the 2010 year and so far ( thankfully) i cant. Are you aware of any issues with the 2010 year?

    Thanks again

  10. Welcome & congrats on your '10 Edge! Is it an AWD or FWD? The 3.5 is generally a sturdy, reliable engine. But there aren't really any available drop-in performance mods for it. The most significant mod would be a tune. CAI/exhaust systems currently available are more "appearance" mods than "power" mods. Part of the issue is the power handling capability of the transmission. While well equipped to deal with 265+ hp (officially anyway), there isn't headroom for much more. The tune would allow you to improve the behavior of the transmission to suit your driving style, and that is the real benefit.

There are one-off instances of a turbo having been added, but they are expensive (think $8K as a starting point), and their power add/reliability is undocumented.

Maintenance is the best "mod" you can do for your Edge, even if you have a fully documented service history. If you do not have a warranty on it and have an AWD, consider the PTU "upgrade" of adding a drain plug (posts by the_natrix) to it and flushing the PTU fluid. That is an unofficial maintenance item that has proven valuable to drivers of other Ford AWD vehicles.

Look up owner's manuals at owner.ford.com (Vehicle Basics -> Owner's Manuals), then pick your Edge) if you do not have them handy. There is a maintenance guide in there also.

Hey Thank you. Its a SEL FWD.It only has 29800 on it. Its a certified pre owned and i have additional warranty on it so im not overly concerned. We originally wanted a AWD, is there an issue with those? Any idea what the SCT tune would give? Thanks for the reply.

  11. Hey everyone, I just purchased a 2010 Edge today and have a quick question for ya. Before you ask, yes i did try searching the forum for the answer but this forum is a little different from what im used to so no dice. I'm curious as to what performance mods work best on the 3.5. Mainly CAI, tuners, ect Nothing too serious. I would just like to know any ( if at all) more punch i can add to it. Thanks everyone.
