Newb here. I have been searching for 20" rim replacements for my wife's 2011 Edge Sport for the past 2 months. She travels the state day to day and gets 22mpg on average. I wanted to get her average mileage up to at least 24. Green filter was the first add on. While I was replacing her rotors this past weekend, I decided to weight one of these 22" monsters with lugs since I keep seeing 85lbs out here. I saw 74lbs without lugs and 75 with lugs. I have settled on a set of Advanti Bello 20" with a set of Yokohama YK580 265/50r20". New YokoTires weigh in at 37lbs and Bello rims are at 29.35 lbs. total 66.35lbs then add TPS sensors and balancing weight, should still be around a 6 to 8lb savings per wheel. The price of these rims are very reasonable right now. For those who have swapped from 22" to 20" on the Sport with Yokohama tires, what changes were notcieable? Photos soon once they arrive.
Just so I understand, you want to go down to 20" rims so as to gain 2 MPG? In an SUV/CUV? If MPG is that important, why not get a hybrid (gas-electric or plug-in) that will get you 40+MPG? Methinks MPG and CUVs don't quite co-exist. Even with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine on the Edge, the MPG gain is miniscule compared to say an SEL with the 18" rims... Maybe 2-4 MPG difference, if that... BTW, I get lots of compliments on the 22's everywhere.... It is unique on a Ford and do turn heads, especially if tricked out with the red caliper covers... As for MPG, I am doing 19.7 MPG routinely (mix of city & freeways), and no complaints... Knew going in I was buying a big 4400 Ib beast...

thanks for the link, had been wanting to mimic the explorer badge but only want to do the edge in flat black to match the rest. I've had my caliper covers forever but haven't got to put them on.
caliper covers goes on in like 5-10 min tops... Real easy on the Sport cos you don't need to take the rims off to install. I take it that you have the Blue Sport, right? A flat black or matte black PD hood emblem will stand out and be awesome, imo...
-
So where did you get the hood badge? Also, do you have caliper covers?
Hood badge from EBay: Link And yes to "EDGE" branded red MGP caliper covers.. one of the coolest add-on to the Edge with the 22"s...

Congrats on the Overland. That is a great vehicle by any definition. and in a my favorite color as well. Appreciate those pros and cons regarding your 2011 Edge. I think the 2011 being the first redesign release will have some of those issues... Your daughter is blessed, with a sporty convertible. Wow!!! Awesome.... Please stay around and share your experience with the Overland. I will certainly be very interested, especially your thoughts on how it compares to your Edge LTD.

Get some plasti dip smoke for the chrome emblems with the ford logo it will actually black the blue and dark gray the chrome, depending on how many layers.
either that or get pearl white cut out for the ford logos and overlay..
Plasti-dip smoke is exactly what I'd need... cos I really want to change out the blue oval.... so thanks for the suggestion.

Although not a fan of chrome, I took off the plasti-dip on the hood emblem and, guess what, the chrome is actually not bad at all, surprisingly still has a good contrast with the white color... Now gotta figure out keeping my rear badges plasti-dipped or revert back to factory chrome... arghhhhhh.....

In my limited knowledge with the Edge (only a couple months ownership), the Sport with paddles does NOT have the +/- shift point on the gear knob, hence your MKX with the +/- may not be necessarily wired to accept the paddles... Get my point? I could be totally wrong tho'... Good luck on this project and let us know if you do succeed on it. I will surely be interested for curiosity sake...

looks good, but... man... letters alignment!
I know... I tried 2x but just can't seem to line the "EDGE" part correctly. Will give it one more shot...

I believe the OP is not necessarily upgrading to the factory Sport 22" rims... looks like he is just looking to upgrade to larger AM rims which should all be lighter in weight compared to the 85Ib (ea) beasts on the Edge Sport (but they sure look great ). So rim weight, acceleration and mpg should hopefully not be too challenging with the lighter AM rims...

I test drove Edges with all rim options (18s, 20s and 22s) and ended up buying the Sport with the 22". The ride quality is pretty nice and firm, as I like my cars....(altho' the Edge belongs to the missus) certainly not harsh in any way... To be honest, I may be biased since I own 3 German autos all of which ride pretty firm and sporty, so take my opinion with a grain of German-bias salt
It is a decision between ride comfort (soft and cushy, i.e., 18"s) versus firm and more sure-footed ride (i.e., 22s)... or the compromise between the two (i.e., 20s). But going from 17s to 18s is no real upgrade... going up to 20 or 22, now that is truly changing things up...

Not too enamored with it, would leave it to the Land Rovers. If anything, I would have it paint-matched to the hood so it doesn't stand out quite so much.
I hear ya... but I am keeping the hood badge... Oh yes. I love it cos it adds more xter to the car and that's always good. The Explorer has it, the FLEX has it, RR has it, even Jeep has it... Quite a few really nice vehicles have it and it looks great on these cars. Maybe I tone down the color a tad...But I am keeping mine. Gives the car a spunkier look when compared to factory... see for yourself...

Here is the new addition - a "FORD EDGE" hood ornament. Saw one online and thought it gave the front a slight "edgy" look, and could fill in the blank space at the front of the swoopy hood. Afterall, Ford thought it nice to include the hood badge on the Explorer Sport, so why not have one for the Edge Sport, right? Ford even has it on the FLEX, go figure!!! The hood badge makes the car stand out a wee bit more... IMO. Love it. BTW, it came in chrome, so I plasti-dipped itto match the blacked out front on the Edge.
Seeing it in picture made me realize the alignment of the EDGE portion needs a bit of work. Will get to it later tonight...
So what do you guys think? Does anyone have this on theirs? I haven't seen one here yet, but then I haven't looked hard enough.

There is a mod going on my car this week which is easily something I am most excited about of all the mods added to date. It should arrive Monday and get put on immediately... So what is it?.... check back here in a day or two.

2012 Sport, and my needs are really simple
- Headlight assembly with clear side lens/marker (to blend in front fascia much better - can't stand the ugly egg-yolk marker)
- LED rear light assembly
- Side steps for the Sport
- Mud flaps (customized to fit)
- Coil overs/Springs/Shocks
- Front struts/rear sway bar (designed specifically for the Edge)
- Halo LED front projectors (can't find this off-the-shelf on EBay)
See, not that much, right?

2012 Sport AWD - Checked the mpg this past weekend on a 200 mile trip, all highway. Best mpg was 24.4mpg, but averaged 22.4 mpg @ 65-70mph. My in-town ride (lots of lights) averages 18 mpg (not bad for a Sport AWD model plus heavy rims). I will take that any day... My SLK55 does 14 mpg (when I am babying it, yeah right...), but then I didn't buy it for its fuel efficiency
Not nit picking, but I wonder why anyone would complain about gas mileage in an SUV/CUV weighing >4,000 Ib.... These vehicles are NOT designed for fuel efficiency no matter what the manufacturer claims on the sticker... Just MHO.

Did you make the changes on-car or off? AWD looks good dipped. Might even want to take it off completely.
Dipped on-car... I will re-dip the AWD. Thanks buddy.
-
Today, plasti-dipped the rear badges, except the "AWD". First I dipped the AWD then undipped Just not sure about this badge yet.... But I love the black-colored "EDGE" and "SPORT" on the tri-coat platinum white color (compare it to the chrome version which you can barely see from a distance). You may not see it that well, but I left the "red" flank on the "SPORT" to give it some xter...
Next will be swapping out the blue "FORD" oval emblems on the front hood and rear trunk to BLACK. That will mesh with the blackened grill and the plasti-dipped rear emblems as well.
And that will complete Phase-I of my mod list (minus the Halo LED headlights). I am pretty happy with the small, but noticeable changes that make the EDGE SPORT stand out from the crowd. After some rest, I will begin Phase-II soon enough.

My MGP calipers shipped today. So looking forward to installing that this week. Seems like some people claim they installed these covers without taking off the wheels. Will be giving this a shot to see if it is indeed true... Pics coming real soon.

Personally, I like the car, especially the plasti-dipped front. Looks much better than stock, to me. AWD, 22" rims, new-ish tires, NAV, and cool exterior and interior color combo. At 67K miles for a 4 yr old, that is <17K miles/yr. Not terrible... Don't have your zipcode, but in mine (01752) kbb pegs it around $18-$19K in good enough shape. Question is if it has all you want, and priced right for your budget... A bit of TLC and you should have a pretty nice MKX...
Good luck.
