  1. Ok, and update on this...

I checked again this morning. Gas prices are still updating, and are accurate. The free Sirius promotion ended yesterday, so I doubt that has anything to do with it.

Anyone who cares to check: On center stack, go to Navigation>Dest>POI>Gas/Fuel stations

As it populates, the gas prices will be listed on the right hand side.

Also, I went into settings>Sirius, and confirmed that I DO NOT have an active subscription to any Sirius services.

  2. Sirius and XM are having a free preview for the next week or so. I just tuned into my unsubscribed Sirius today while driving. The gas prices showing may be a part of the free preview.

Ahh ok, that would probably explain it. Can't go check it because it's at Ford getting a PTU seal done this morning. But the Fusion they gave me as a loaner had Sirius working, so yeah. Free preview it must be.

Thanks anyway Sirius, but I'll stick with Spotify Free, and Gas Buddy on the iPhone. :)

    Thanks ls973!

  3. Hello from one factory tow package to another! It tows beautifully! Better than our 1999 Explorer as a matter of fact.

A little thirstier than expected while towing, but I'm not complaining! (14mpg at 70mph with two snowmobiles)

    Have fun.

  4. I've owned my 2012 AWD limited with 20's for exactly 12 days. I do a 124 mile highway trip twice a week. The route is relatively hilly for Michigan, and I'm a little OCD about fuel mileage. I've done this trip 6 times so far, and here are my results via the trip computer.

    70mph (Michigan speed limit):

    24mpg

    74mph

    21mpg

    79mph (What I usually do)

    18mpg!

Hauling an open snowmobile trailer with two snowmobiles:

    At 70mph I managed just 14mpg.

Typically, I will compute my mileage with the fill-up and a calculator, but because of time constraints I haven't been able to fill up immediately after getting off the highway, and I end up running all over town which would skew the highway results.

Just a little disappointed, but the 1999 Explorer was doing 17mpg at 70, and 9mpg with the trailer!

  5. Nothing to add - just wanted to say thank you for spelling "braking" correctly........

Lol, best thing I've read today!

Thank the government and CAFE for that one.

I don't have anything to thank them for. Bunch of "Chicken Little" biscuit lickers!

How's the response when you get on it after a period of "no-touch" on the throttle? Any noticeable lag?

    No lag that I've noticed.

This whole "let's save the planet" thing should be something that can be disabled by competent drivers. For years, I've been conscious of my surroundings and the activity taking place in front of my vehicle. For example, on approach to my house, from 55mph (I live on a country road), there is enough of a slope in the road that I used to be able to coast my Pontiac Bonneville, while in gear for about a half mile, and still be at 30 mph by the time I had to brake for my driveway. With the Edge, I have to maintain power all the way until about 500 feet from the house. Now Cafe, CARB, or whoever the heck you are...tell me how that's more efficient? <\Rant>

  6. Hello,
First of all, I hope this would be the right sub-forum. I didn't know whether to post it here or in 3.5L

New owner of a 2012 Limited AWD.

When decelerating, it seems like it is actually braking. At first I thought it was something to do with the collision avoidance system or something, but my brake lights aren't coming on. And I've tried it with all of the BLIS system turned off. Same results.

Let's say that I'm traveling down a 55mph road and I can sense that a stop-n-go light is going to change from green to red. Being a closet hyper-miler, I will kick off the cruise way before the light even changes so I can just coast and hopefully not have to brake hard. The thing is, coming out of a Pontiac Bonneville that would coast for hundreds of yards even while in gear, the Edge seems to REALLY decelerate quickly as soon as you've removed your foot from the throttle. I'm not talking throw you through the windshield or anything, but I end up having to get back on the throttle just to make it to the stop-light.

So, of course being paranoid, I checked to make sure that it freewheels OK while it's not in gear to eliminate the possibility of a hung brake caliper. There's a road by my house that has just enough slope to it that if you let off the brake, while in neutral, you will very, very slowly start rolling. The Edge rolls fine on this hill.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  7. Well, coming back to finally follow up. Was going to wait until spring, but our faithful Explorer, that served us well for 12 years finally gave up the ghost (major valvetrain failure), so I pulled the trigger.

I'm the very happy owner of a 2012 Limited in Tuxedo Black with 29,000 miles, and every single option available!

We got her from the same dealer that sold us our Explorer back in 2003! Great people, and glad to give them the business.Nu1eWA2.png?1

  8. Thanks for the reply. I'm looking at a Kodiak Brown at my local used car dealer (Not a Ford dealer), whom I've worked with before on my Explorer and F250. He's got a good price, and it has 302A package that I'm looking for.

Can I buy the Ford ESP after the fact even if I buy it at a non-Ford dealer? It's a 2013 with 22,000 miles.

Frankly, this little mom and pop dealer has treated me more than fair in the 14 years we've been working together and would love to give him the business.

  9. Hello all,

Currently I'm shopping for the perfect Edge.

It'll be used, 2011-2014 with less than 40,000 miles.

    It MUST be Ford CPO.

And it MUST have the intelligent key.

I'm finding it hard to find in this combination, with a preferrebly dark color (Kodiak or Black)

So I'm here to go through search overload!

    Mike from Michigan
