:happy feet: after a long wait (since jan 10th) we finally picked up the edge last night. :happy feet: we got the SEL, in pewter and black cloth interior w/ BAMR, towing package and reverse sensors. i haven't been able to drive it much but i'm sure we are going to have some good fun with it... i will try to drive it and give a full report. for now here is a couple of things....
i thougth the seat was going to be a just slide lever and back lever.. but it is not it has a driver power seat sweet... the mirror has auto dimming... did not know it had that.... the recliner of the back seats is great specially to admire the BAMR and that thing is HUGE!!!.... my daughter who is 3 1/2 yrs old... was a little upset that her moon roof did not open... but got over it quickly... the stereo sounds good.. not bad for a stock w/o any upgrades.
interesting how the bamr button works... i press it and it starts opening it.. it then stops... so i have to push it again... then on the way to close i push it... and stops again before it is fully closed so i have to push it again... is this a safety thing??
i got the extended warranty and the wheel and tire protection.. I'm sure i will make use of it.
this is turning out to be a long report.. but those are my first thoughts... later there might be more.. and some pics to go with it...
Did you call your dealer and ask them why the moon roof keeps stopping? If I paid for a moon roof I would ant it to open when I wanted it to.

i've seen one edge commercial but today i saw 2 mkx commercials! i'm in ontario also.
I have seen one MKX commercial that show the mom with her three kids.

Did you guys not pay attention to the couch scene? The Edge will help you score! How can you go wrong with that?
:D
Do you mean the part when they are driving by the window and the hand comes over the couch/ :happy feet:

Nope, monthly sales figures are based on sales to retail and fleet customers. Those sales get the headlines and sales rankings and help out on the wholesale front. Ford books revenue, err loses, when they are built and shipped to the dealer.
Thanks

This information is from Ford:
* Ford Edge Market Share Neck and Neck with Nissan Murano : In February, its second full month on sale, the Ford Edge earned a 12.5 percent share of the medium crossover utility segment – higher than the gas-model Toyota Highlander (11.7 percent) and closing in on the Nissan Murano (12.6 percent).
* Ford Edge Outsells GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook Combined : In February, Ford sold a total of 7,997 Edges, 521 more units than the gas-powered Toyota Highlander and only 103 units less than Nissan Murano. Edge outsold the GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook combined by 1,814 units.
* Lincoln MKX Passes Competitors :In January and February, its first two full months on sale, the 2007 Lincoln MKX outsold the Cadillac SRX by nearly 17 percent (4,007 units vs. 3,432 units). On average, each Lincoln MKX is sold or “turned” in 12 days. That is four days faster than the Acura MDX, more than twice as fast as the Cadillac SRX and Lexus RX 350, and more than three times faster than Infiniti FX35, according to J.D. Power PIN data.
Of course, the Edge is new and thus they are shipping a lot of them. We'll have to wait and see if this trend contuinues. . .let's hope it does.
So how does this figure work? does Ford count cars sold as any that they ship out to dealers? Even if they sit on lots? What about Rental places? What percentage of this is actually sold to customers?

I talked to my sales person today and he said I have to bring it in. The service dept. will take pipctures and submit them to Ford to get the solution they see fit. I am taking it in tomorrow to ge the process started.
I hope that they do not give you a hard time. Let us know how it works out.

White or close versions thereof stand the test of time in my opinion. It is hard to tell the age of a white vehicle. Many colors can be "aged" in just a couple of years. I can usually look at a car with certain colors and instantly recognize the year model. The Blazing cooper already looks dated as Nissan has been using something very close on the Murano thereby making the Ford color look like an imitation. Just my .02 cents
I was thinking that I might get bored of the Orange color. And I had a red truck that chipped really quickly. Thats why I was thinking something lighter.

lmao, well if fuel is a decision in what you buy....STOP looking at the EDGE!
Although my mpg's have been all over the place, the best was 17mpg and the worst was 12.3mpg. Here are my mpg's over the last 5 fill-ups.
12.3, 13.4, 17, 15.3 and 14.8. I believe I have about 1700 miles on it now? I am almost empty and will be filling up tomorrow. I have about 280 miles on this tank and I will drive it until I hit 300 or more if it means I run out on the side of the road!!!!
I can not believe I do not get over 300 miles per tank! RIDICULOUS!
Wow that does seem like alot.

We received our Light Sage SEL Plus AWD on March 6. We finally had a chance to get it out and look it over really good this weekend. We found a couple very small punctures in the passenger front seat (Charcoal Leather) and a small dent in the metal fascia around the radio and dash controls. Just wondered if any one else has had any similar issues and if so, how did your dealership resolve the problems.
Have you called your dealer? What did they think it was from?

Didn't see this posted yet. The EPA will adopt more realistic fuel economy ratings for the 2008 model year. Here is a calculator that will help you estimate the new ratings:
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/calculatorSelectYear.jsp
2007 Ford Edge 2WD
current ratings 18 city 25 highway 21 combined
new ratings 16 city 23 highway 19 combined
2007 Ford Edge AWD
current ratings 17 city 24 highway 20 combined
new ratings 16 city 22 highway 18 combined
If the 3.5L is anything like the 3.0L it will take at least 3K miles to reach maximum fuel economy. And winter fuel mixes will also make it worse.
Thanks that is helpful. I am going to buy an edge this summer and fuel is a big decision with the prices going up so high.

They are still showing the first commercial in the Houston area, but now they have added another one showing a couple driving around town and ending up at a resturant.
I have not seen the new one yet.

Here in Ontario, I haven't seen any Edge comercial !?
... Or maybe I don't watch enough TV.
You have not missed much. It shows a young couple driving a Edge with a song called I like to live on the Edge and they are driving along sides of buildings. What part of Ontario are you from? I love Toronto use to go their a lot when I was younger and our American Money was worth so much. I could get some awesome deals.

There is an add on called Trip Tunes Advanced that has a 30 pin connector for an i-pod that lets you use your radio controls to navigate on your i-pod. The picture show the i-pod in the glove compartment. But I don't think it works with the navigation radio unit. You can find it at The Ford Accessorie Store
Thanks for the info

So far, so good
I always like a crowed :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet:

Do all Edges come with the Ipod hook up or do I need to special order this?
-
I am sure you all already know this. But it isnt an iPod hookup...it is an mp3 player hookup. I freakin hate ipods! You hoook any mp3 player up using the jack and the only thing I do not like about it, is that you need to make sure the volume on your mp3 player is up as well as the volume control on the radio...
Stupid question, but what is the difference between an Ipod and Mp3 player? My daughter has a nano Ipod thats not an Mp3 player?

Someone needs to tell ford that It is time for a new Advertising campaign. This one about living on the Edge grinds on my nerves. I see it at least 3 or 4 times a day. Talk about beating :beatdeadhorse: . Time to spend some money on something other than the executives.
-
Congratulations on the New Car. The more I hear people talk about how much they love their edge the more I want one.
-
I have a Redfire Metallic and love it! Camel interior, too.
Never thought of the Redfire. Now I have three

I am torn on a color of the Blazing coper or the Creme Brulee. What color does eveyone think will stand the test of time and the car wash?

FINALLY!!!!!!
My truck is scheduled to arrive to my dealer tommorow!!
=}
Well did you get the truck!!!!!
-
thats great cant wait to get mine!!!
-
I couldn't wait for the one I ordered. Ford's website has an excellent "search dealer inventory" feature. I found an equivalent model in CT (I'm in the Hudson Valley of NY) and notified my dealer. They contacted the CT dealer, did a swap, and I had mine ready for pick up in 2 days.
I'm assuming the one I ordered a month ago is still on the assembly line somewhere.
Thanks for the info thats good to know.

I have ordered a new Edge from my local dealership i'm still waiting for it... now a friend of my family got one as a rental from enterprise. how do you feel about that. I'm not too happy myself.
I know that if I had to wait months for my car and found out that rental car places already had them I would be mad.
