  1. Does anybody else experience the whining, whislting noise that they could not find on my edge. Oh by the way they heard it but couldn't find it. It is driving me crazy. Other then that I love the Edge.

My 2007 Edge SEL FWD also has a whinning whistling noise. Dealership not able to give me an answer on why.

  2. an oil cooler, basically think of a radiator but instead of engine coolant it's cooling your engine oil.

it's standard equipment if you have the tow package. allows for your vehicle to run under severe conditions without frying your oil every time thereby damaging your engine in the long run, or contributing to an overheating condition.

Thanks. I don't think I have the tow package.

  3. Hi Always_smile1st. :D Have you even bothered to look at the Warranty Booklet, as you were advised to do? The correct process to begin remediation for your problems are in there.

Do you realize that this Forum is not run by Ford? Do you understand that a letter writing campaign to the websites you have linked to will not solve your problem?

What you need to do has been explained to you, but it certainly seems you have ignored that advice.

You need to begin the process using the resources outlined in your Warranty Booklet.

What you are doing here is only beginning to make you look silly. We cannot help you, and while people will start off as sympathetic, what you continue to do will soon turn people against you.

Follow the procedures outlined in your Warranty Booklet. The rest of this is futile Internet nonsense.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

If you don't like my post then, don't look at them. I don't rememeber stating this forum was ran by FORD. Thanks for all of your help. I guess your edge don't cause you any problem

Can you tell me what this forum is for maybe I have the wrong idea? It does appear you know or claim to know what people should post about. Did I look at my Warranty Booklet? I guess you have jokes? What procedures are you referencing maybe I didn’t follow that one.

  5. I did have one incident with my low miles 2008 SEL so far. I was pulling into a Target parking lot, turned into a space in an empty row at about 8 MPH. as I was 3/4 into the space, with the wheel nearly all the way to the left the vehicle completely died. Oil, Battery, and Engine warning lights all lit. thing still in D with my foot just barely having a second to begin depressing the brake (not the cause). wasn't even running the A/C or any other accessories aside from the radio. never touched the shifter or ignition

so far this has only happened once. should it happen again I will be sending her in. but I'll be reporting it to dealer during the 1st service anyway.

one other question, my right rear emits a momentary but obvious high pitched squeal if I am loading anything (even of very light weight) into the cargo area, I think only when parking brake is engaged but need to confirm it.. is this normal? no sound comes from the left side at all no matter how hard I push down or if I drop a heavy load closer to the left wheel. might have to mention to the dealer as well.

also I got my 1st door chip yesterday :( my own fault as I nudged the door open just a hair wider to squeeze something out of the back seat and heard a thunk from a small (1/4") dia steel pipe along this block wall at 1/2 rear door height. but I'd rather have it be from me than some unknown marks all over the place from unknown persons. luckily it's tiny, but I still want to touch it up since I know it's there and people could conceivably notice it.

pull right? yea maybe. the jury is still out. seems to drift that way just a bit on occassion but couldn't be sure if it was just the roadway for drainage or the vehicle out of line, so I'm still figuring it.

Sorry for the late reply. I've been off the board. I would say the car drift not a pull. My edge has not died on my but I'm scared it will

  6. Where to start? If you are having oil leaks, then there should clearly be a point of origination under the vehicle that you could see. Right? But the dealer does not find them?

The transmission issue is odd and may not be duplicated at the dealer if it is intermittent.

Rollback is noted and discussed in this forum. That is an annoyance and not a defect in my opinion.

Paint issues? Personally, my edge has an excellent paint job. You should post some pics to back up your paint claim. Before I buy a vehicle, I always inspect for paint defects like acid rain spots.

Fumes and coolant? Do you have antifreeze on the ground? A dealer would definitely correct this quickly even if in the heater core.

Not running smooth and pulling. Some Edge owners report a pull and it is discussed here.

No offense, but you sound like the kind or owner that is looking for issues and piles them on. Dealers absolutely hate customers like that. They see you as "over-the-top" and unreasonable. Just reading your first post leads me to this conclusion. I would suggest going to another dealer and working on one problem at a time. Get under the car, dins the oil leak (if there is one) and take it for repair. Good Luck.

Tell me . What would you do if you just purchased a new car and having all kinds of problems?

  7. I'm wondering if anyone else having this problem or had this problem but it was fixed. A Texas dealership did review the video from my digital camera and told me they would be able to do anything since it did not happen when they had my edge. At the time both my nephews were in the car scared to dealth and wondering what was going on. Can anyone help our have any ideas.

I can't get the file to download.

  8. Does that really matter? I do not have the luxary of running down to a dealership with all my needs. I am a soldier living in Germany. I ordered the car and it took 5 months for delivery. Once it arrived I inspected the car but it was inside a building so the thin paint on the rear did not show up. And no I did not get down on the ground checking under the doors because you would like after paying $34000 I would not have to do that.

So katiesdaddy, instead of looking at me for the issue, look at the bigger picture. Why did Ford produce a crappy product. OBTW, I am not the only one with paint like this.

Oh and the Plant manager refuses to answer my emails.

I agree with you. Why did Ford allow such a bad paint job to enter the mkt for the customer to only have it repainted at a bodyshop. I have the same problem. I guess 34k does not buy quality anymore. I thought it would have

  9. I know exactly what's wrong with that..

Your car has been painted, TOTALLY painted and they did a great job on it too.

It has been RE-PAINTED! that door opening shows that it's been re-painted, they don't paint them like that from the factory.

Used, Stolen? More to this story than appears.

You can't help seeing all this on the doors and rear door when you open it.

Post the VIN so we can see what it was originally built as. Post the VIN

I also have a black edge that looks like this. IT is missing paint all over the place.

  10.

I just purchased a new 2007 edge not even a month ago and I’ve been having one problem after another. I found oil spots in my garage; The car seams to get stuck in certain gears. Which makes it very hard to stop? I can feel every bump in the road. I have taken the car into the dealer many times and they can not verify any of the problems. I wish I never purchased this car

    DOES YOUR EDGE DO THIS.

  11. Nope, I took it by today and told them couple days ago and today the floor felt wet on the driver side. The service manager said it felt cold to him but not wet. LOL I also had him go on a test drive with me today to listen to this very high pitch noise that occurs almost every time you press on the gas. The reason he gave for this was “Air is getting into the throttle body; He also said there is not a fix for it.”

  12. :D Hi Always_smile1st. Sorry to hear about your problems.

To begin to address them in the proper manner, take a look at the Warranty booklet that should have been given to you when you purchased your Edge. If you can not find it, you can download it here: LINK: Warranty Information. Just click on "Warranty" in the left menu, then fill in the drop down boxes to the left with your vehicle information.

The Warranty Booklet lays out a precise process of the steps to take if your Dealership can not resolve your problems.

If necessary, you will need to begin the Lemon Law process on your vehicle. The thing is, you need to initiate this process. Neither the Dealer or Ford will usually volunteer the information (although they did hand us all a booklet outlining the process when we purchased our new vehicles).

Following the procedure outlined in the Warranty Booklet will get you further (and get you there quicker) than an Internet letter writing campaign.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

    Thanks

I was looking info trading the car in. It make me so nervous to drive a have my nephew in the truck some times and yesterday I thought my front floor was damp

  13. Sorry to hear that you have been have so many problems with your Edge. I hate to say this, but with 15k miles on my 07 SEL+ it's only been into the dealer to get the oil changed.

I will say that with the roll back issue (if we are talking about the samething) if you are sitting at an incline the transmition wont hold it in place. That is true with every vehicle with an automatic transmition (that I have ever drove). I have a 99 F250 with an automatic and V10 and it will roll back, and I have a 1974 F100 with a C6 automatic and 428 big block that will roll back on an incline as well. Now I will say that the Edge rolls back on a lot smaller incline then the other vehicles I own, but when running down the highway when you take your foot off the gas it rolls alot easier that way too.

The other thing I will ask, have you taken your Edge to another dealership? Do you go to a large "Walmart' type dealership, or a ma and pa type dealership. I have had better luck and service at the ma and pa type dealers then the super dealers. At the smaller dealers they need your business and typically will bend over backwards to help you out. At the super dealers you are a number and a statistic. Sometimes it is better to go smaller then larger. And this is coming from somebody that owns a F250 Crewcab :)

I have taken it to another dealership not for all the concern trying not to overload anyone but it always been big dealerships. . I have also shown the dealership video from my digital camera of white smoke coming from the tailpipe and video of what appears like the edge getting stuck in a gear and not wanting to accelerate or decelerate when it’s gets stuck. The last thing I have requested which was shoot down to have master tech to test drive with me so I point out and duplicate the concerns, or see if the dealership would to install a flight recorder to help pinpoint the problems ; both request rejected . Not sure what to do anymore maybe I'm on a bad list LOL

  14. I would be interested to hear how the conversation went with the service advisor/manager. Sometimes when they conclude they will never make a customer happy, they just want them to go away.

Did you burn them on a survey? What did you tell them you were going to do? Why can't you duplicate the concern? Two sides to every story.

If you have burned the bridge, find another F/L/M dealership for your service needs.

    Thanks for the reply!

I don’t think I’ve burned anyone; in fact I have tried not to burn anyone. The survey the dealership sends out when I 1st purchased the vehicle I have not returned. For the very fact that I didn’t want to adversely affect anyone certainly not my sales person who took good care of me doing the buying process. I’m able to duplicate the concern; what I find strange the dealership keeps my edge for days on end to only return it back to me saying, “test drove and unable to duplicate”. The reason why they are not able to duplicate I can only guess it could be the tech that inspects it. Normally it’s the same person every time. Maybe he’s new; I know for me the longer a person does a certain skill set the better they get at it... So I can only guess at reasons. This last time I did request for a lead or master tech to test drive with me so I point out and duplicate the concern., or for the dealership to install a flight recorder to help pinpoint the problems ; both request rejected. I have shown pictures of the many oil spots/other oil like substance on my new garage floor. I have also shown the dealership video from my digital camera of white smoke coming from the tailpipe and video of what appears like the edge getting stuck in a gear and not wanting to accelerate or decelerate when it’s stuck. You are right. There are always to sides to a story and this is only my story. I do know on the very forum lots of people are having problem/concern with there edge maybe the sites I have listed can help them voice there concerns

  15. Let your voice be heard........

Not saying you will have problem with your Edge like I have for example: Oil leaks, Transmission issues, and rollback while driving and you are on an incline, major paint issues where some of the areas not painted at all or the paint is wrinkled. FUMES!!! That’s right FUMES entering into the cabin (which I think is a coolant leak). Also, the Edge is not running smooth; sometimes it feels like I am driving a jeep and the car keeps drifting to the right.

I have taken them car to the dealership time and time again, and on just about all the issues the dealership gave me their famous words: "TEST DROVE AND WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE" I even contacted Ford motor company directly and all they did was back the dealership without question. Heaven forbid the dealership missed something!

The last words Ford gave me were: Go to the BBB! (Better Business Bureau)I purchased the 2007 Ford Edge SEL new this year in Feb. of 2008 from a local dealership here is Dallas, Texas.

So if you’re having problems or concerns come up, make sure you report your complaints so you are heard and contact your local dealership to see if you get the same famous words I have: "TEST DROVE AND WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE"

  16. I am hoping that someone here might be having the same problem I am, as my dealer will not do anything about it ... here's what's happening:

At slower speeds, something happens, either in the wheels or transmission, that makes the Edge feel like it has run over a curb or hit a giant pothole. However, it hasn't done either of those things. It is like a violent jolt from inside the engine. This has happened four times in the past two weeks. However, when I take it to the dealer, they say they can't find anything. I'm not crazy. Something is wrong with my vehicle.

By the way, my stats: 2007 FWD.

A little more about this: I drove 2 hours on the Pa. turnpike to Philly this weekend. No problems on the turnpike. Once I was in the city, driving slower with many stops, the jolt hits. Driving back home from Philly, same story. Nothing happens on the turnpike, but it does the same thing as I'm pulling into my building's parking lot from the street.

    Any suggestions, ideas, similar problems?

    Thanks

Not saying you will also experience problems with your Edge like I have. Just to give you some of my issues. I have a 2007 Edge FWD purchased new this year. A few of my concerns are: Oil leaks, Transmission issues(car getting stuck is gears), rollback while driving and you are on an incline(My Edge does not HOLD), major paint issues where some of the areas not painted at all or some of the painted areas is wrinkled. FUMES!!! That’s right FUMES entering into the cabin (My guess is it might be a coolant leak due to the smell). Also, my Edge is not running smooth, sometimes it feels like I am driving a jeep and the car also continues to drift to the right.

I have taken my Edge to the dealership time and time again, and on just about all the issues the dealership gave me their famous words: "TEST DROVE AND WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE" I even contacted Ford motor company directly and all they did was back the dealership without question.
