  1. Hi rlassiter. :D As far as contacting Ford? Well...it never hurts to try. However, being realistic, at 56K (miles or kilometers?) you are well over the 36,000 mile New Car Bumper to Bumper Warranty period, so....all you can do is hope for the best.

The blower motor is not covered under the Powertrain Warranty.

Concerning the price: Seems high to me. I would recommend getting several second opinion price-quotes from your other local Ford/Lincoln Dealers.

Can tell you that in the old days (just a few years ago, and sometimes even now), a blower motor only running on high would be caused by a failed blower motor resistor. Ask the Dealers Service Departments if the problem can be corrected by replacing only the resistor, instead of replacing the entire blower motor assembly. Might not be possible with the electronics heavy components of today, but again, never hurts to ask.

Let us know how you make out and good luck. :beerchug:

Thanks. They told me it is a sealed assembly and they replace instead of service. I will check south of the border to see what kind of deal I can get.

  2. My radiator fan now runs at high speed most of the time. Service tech says it requires a Fan and Motor assembly for $900 Canadian + labour. It is still under 3 years but unfortunately my mileage is 58K for for 36K bumper to bumper. Do you think contacting Ford directly would help or this is considered a part of the powertrain? And what do you think about the price?

  3. At night when I turn off the engine and open my door, the headlights go out. I want the lights on for a few minutes so I can find my way. Can the 2008 Edge do this?

Another thing I would like is for the Edge to always lock the doors automatically when the key engine is turned off and the door is opened and closed, when I get out. I have lost 2 GPS's because I forgot to lock the door. There is still my keypad entry if I forget my keys inside. Any chance of this too?

  4. I just finished my vacation from Vancouver BC to Southern California. I have a 2008 AWD 20" Edge. I ran with cruise control about 10% of the time. 95% was highway. Here are my mileage/km results.

    Total Miles 3162.2

    Total KM 5089.1

    Total Cost $700.90

    Total US Gallons 167.37

    Total Litres 634

    MPG 18.9

    L/100 KM 12.46

    Claimed by Ford

    City: 13.6 L/100 km

    Hwy: 9.2 L/100 km

EPA est. mpg: 15 city/22 highway

  5. UGGHHH! I'm bringing my 07 edge in on Friday. The dealership didn't want to help me. I baught it two weeks ago!!!!! They told me that ALL cars pull to the right when driving down the road!!!!! The owner of the dealership even YELLED at me! I felt validated after I asked the service tech to check the tsb. The only way I knew to ASK for the TSB was this GREAT forum!

I will be EXTREMELY upset if the dealership actually charges me for this work. In fact-I pointed out that the car had ONE bald tire when it was sitting on the lot. They replaced it & told me that it was because the previous owner didn't inflate the tires properly!!!! I should have known better.

FWIW, At 7000 miles, a local dealer (not the one I bought from) used TSB 08-7-3 to fix my 'pull to the right'. I only had the basic warranty. At first the alignment would not work. They rotated the tires and tried again successfully. In doing so they tore the chrome clad wheel cover because they said there was virtually nothing to grab on to. They were replacing the wheels anyway due to 'clicking when turning. under another TSB.

  6. does anyone have the TSB reference number cause I am having the same thing happen and I would like to goto the dealer with as much info as possible

"On my service invoice it was TSB 08-7-2 Noise is coming from front 20" Chrome clad wheels" I have had the front 2 replaced. They cannot replace the other 2 until I have the problem (no preventative medicine) when I rotate them to the front.

  7. I have an Edge LTD 20" Chrome Appearance wheels. After about 1000 miles I get a loud clicking sound from the front wheel area when I turn. If the wheels are straight I don't hear it. I hear it during all left and right turns regardless of speed. They can be slight turns or sharp turns for example, when turning a corning or pulling into the driveway. The clicking frequency increases as the wheel rotation increases. It is always present during turns. I can't see anything behind the wheels that is loose or dragging. I was going to wait until my 7500 m maintenance but now it is causing people to stare at my otherwise beautiful vehicle. Anyone out there have the same problem?

My dealer found a TSB on this problem and Ford is replacing the front wheels. When I get it done I will ask to have all wheels done because when I rotate them later I will have the same problem with the current rear ones. I also have a 'pulls right' problem and they could not align the wheels. They had to rotate then align. They damaged the covers when attaching the alignment apparatus too. They said there was nothing to grab on to. Now that the wheels are being replaced it does not matter.

  9. I figure the 20 inch tires and sport suspension combo would be too stiff and firm. I have mild back problems and want to know if I should be concerned. On short demo rides it is hard to tell. I comute 2.5 hrs every day. Roads have more pot holes every year. Should I stick with 18" on my factory order? Does mpg change with the larger circumference?

  10. I am visiting a USA dealer this weekend to find an EDGE SEL to bring back to Canada. I found 3 Service Technical Bulletins. Should I insist they do the repairs before buying or do I have to buy first or do I actually have to have the problem described first? This will be a dealer trade since they don't have one I like in their stock. I read threads here of other issues such as mismatched head rests, rattle in Vista roof. Is there a roof fix that they should apply even though I don't have a rattle but may get it in the future if modifications are not done?
