  1. My bike is way too expensive to be sitting on the top of the car. If you use the rack on top that uses a quick release for the front fork, the bike moves around way too much in the wind and I am not big on my carbon bike flexing that much. The ones that you leave both wheels on is another option, but it still moves around a lot and you definitely have to be aware of something that tall on top of your car. I am just not comfortable with it on top of the car.

I am looking to do the exact same thing for my road bike on my edge sport. Did you end up getting the curt hitch installed? If so, how do you like it? What hitch mounted bike rack do you have/considering?

  2.

From the sounds of it, it is not concentrated to one area. There are people saying they are finding "pools" of water on the driver and/or passenger side. And some have reported a touchless wash should be sufficient to show the symptoms. I'd run it through 2-3 times to double check.

Can you take a pic of your seal as I did with my car. I'd like to see what is coming out of the factory now.

WingNut, attached is a photo I took tonight of the sealant that is applied to the A pillar. There was a good rain here today and my edge is still dry, so appears the initial wet carpet I experienced picking the edge up from the dealer was from the door being opened during a heavy rain. (Knock on wood). I am attaching the pic of my edge with sealant compared to the photo you originally posted.

I sure will take a pic of that area when I get home later this week. Sorry for the the delay, I travel for work.

  4. Does anyone have concrete evidence that they solved this issue after April 28th?

I hope so, but not 100% sure. I had an issue with getting my edge in. It was late for delivery and no one knew where it was. On Saturday, I went into the dealer to just get some sort of answer or expected date. No one had anything. At that point, I was seriously considering canceling when a truck had just came and delivered my ordered edge sport. I came back to the dealer later that day after they prepped it to pick it up. It was raining buckets that entire day. My edge was built 5/13.

When I inspected the vehicle at pick up, I quickly checked the floor of the driver and passenger sides. The passenger side was dry, but my heart sank when I felt a soaked carpet under the driver side all weather floor mat. It was soaked (without standing water) in front of the seat towards the entire length of the driver's side door and about 6" wide. Once I found this, I immediately brought it to the attention of the dealer and informed them about what I knew of the issue and service order. We pulled it into a bay and inspected it. I referenced the picture that someone had posted on these forum pages (I believe it was WingNut?) that showed the seam on the A pillar when the hood is open. On my Edge, that seam did have a heap of sealant. The dealer did inform me that they felt the wet floor was caused by the door not being shut all the way while outside in the rain and due to them going in and out of the vehicle while prepping it in the rain storm. Since it was only on that side and only near the door, I thought it was a reasonable explanation and decided to move forward with possession of the vehicle. I hope that was not a stupid move.

Once I got the edge home, I dried out the interior. The next morning, I had a bad feeling about it and wanted to test it out. I drove it through a touchless car wash to see if any wetness could be found. I did not find any, which gave me some relief. I am still not 100% sure, and will be keeping an eye on it. Does anyone know where on the floor boards the issue is showing (is it the entire area or is it concentrated on a certain portion)? Is taking the vehicle through a touchless car wash enough of a test? If a leak is found, is it usually just on one side or both driver and passenger side? Am I being overly paranoid? Anyone else with a build date in May having suspicions?

  5. Did you call Ford's 800 customer service number? I had some issues with mine shipping and they were very helpful in tracking down my car and providing updates.

Also, other Edge's in your area might have been driven via truck as I was told by my dealer that they had a railcar shortage at the plant. Not sure if that was dealer BS, but that would make sense as to why some are being shipped rail vs. truck.

Yea, unfortunately the 800 customer service tells me the original ETA, (which has since passed a while ago) that they have no new ETA, and to contact the dealer for an ETA. The dealer says that they have no idea and have to call Ford and are told that they have no idea when it will arrive. I really don't understand how I can track a simple package worth less than $100 all the way from China with a dead on ETA, but Ford can't accurately track or predict an ETA on a $45,000 vehicle? How can they not institute a tagging system that marks custom ordered vehicles for customers to make sure they are delivered on time? I think they can, they just choose not to.

I don't understand the rail vs convoy decision. I only live about 350 miles from the Oakville plant, yet, it was shipped rail. If there is a shortage of rail cars, then every vehicle should be shipped truck. The truck has outperformed the railcars by about 3 weeks so far. What is weird is that some edges that had the same build date as mine were shipped to OH via convoy instead of rail. Even more bizarre is the fact that I am willing to bet my edge was shipped via rail to a rail yard that is further away from me than Oakville.

  6. I have ordered on 02/10. It took a very long time, because the dealer noticed only on May 15th that the 51D package was delayed until september.

My build date is June 5th, so in a way I'm lucky I've avoided the water leak issues. There are a couple of threads about it.

My build date was 3 weeks ahead of yours, and I still don't have it. Ford shipped my edge via rail even though every other edge that went to OH shipped convoy. Not a single person from Ford can tell me where it is or what a new expected ETA is. Frankly, they don't seem to care or answer why mine was shipped via rail while every single other edge to Central OH (and further reaches) was shipped via truck. I am 90% sure I will be canceling, and once that occurs, Ford has lost a lifelong supporter. What Ford doesn't realize is that I help manage company vehicle decisions for my team of 12 reps. We were currently evaluating what our next vehicles will be. Looks like the Ford Transit will be scratched from the list. Maybe one day they will decide that customer experience matters.

Don't mean to hijack your post. It truely is a sharp vehicle. Congrats on getting it quickly after getting the run around on the 51D fiasco.

  7. My wife has Sync and MFT in a 2013 escape. We have had no issues with it. Sure, there are idiosyncrasies, but all systems do. I find the voice recognition to be excellent. Overall, it is so much better than my 2013 Toyota Camry's Entune. That has had numerous issues and has absolutely horrible voice recognition.

  8. I also put in an order for an Edge Sport on April 29. I am now seeing estimates of up to 18 weeks for delivery on the Edge! As of today, two weeks later, Ford says "order processing." No VIN, no ETA. Now I am questioning whether the order will even go through. I saw one web site that suggested that no more 2015 Edge orders would even be accepted. Some other Ford 2015 models are already built out. At some point, Ford will stop accepting 2015 Edge orders, in order to start preparing for 2016 production. I imagine that we are nearing that point, beacuse of the huge production delays already in place for the 2015 model. Not sure what to do now about my order.

From everything I heard, it will be a late 2016 model year for the Edge. I too had heard the '16s won't be produced until after September. An 18 week estimate does seem a bit long currently, but it is always a fluid situation. Did your edge have the driver assist package or anything else special on it? I ordered mine on 4/17 and it is currently due around 6/8. You may try checking with Tricia from Ford customer service. You would need some sort of order number from your dealer and Tricia can be found on posts in the welcome forum here.

  9. My salesrep says the 51D is not delayed and that they actually received an Edge with the 51D group. The only delay I have is due to the 21" rims.

    I

I will contact FordService and see if I can get help. There is conflicting information coming from my rep and what I find on the web !

    Etienne.

I am pretty sure your dealer has this backward. The delay is the 51D package and not the 21" rims, which are currently shipping (they were delayed however and released several weeks ago). I know this because I ordered my sport accordingly and have a VIN for a sport with the 21" and without the 51d.

  10. I just ordered my 2015 Edge Sport in Platinum White with 401A, Pana roof, and the 21" black satin rims on Friday 4/17/15. Today my dealer contacted me with the assigned VIN number and told me that it has a build date for the week of 5/18/15. When I look on www.etis.ford.com, I don't see anywhere that it references that build date. I hope that is correct. It seems very quick.
