That's for the factory warranty. I think the extended warranty is different and that's what he used for the first latch replacement.

12edge, FYI this isn't an official Ford site. They might not see your comments....
But IMO this should be recalled! I filled out the information on the NTSB website!

Wow they really need to recall this one. Flower, I'm not sure Tricia can help you since you're in Canada but I'm sure she can direct you to whomever can help!
Update: we ended up giving my Edge to my sister-in-law last summer. About two weeks ago she started having the problem again, which now brings this to the third time this has happened. They seem to want to put these little band-aids on it rather than actually fix the issue I'm not sure why. I wish they would just replace the part! I directed her to take it to her dealer, it should be fully covered.

If you buy the police interceptor version Ford will fix the latch for free since it is recalled. The rest of us are out of luck. Go to SAFECAR.GOV and register an official complaint.
Mac, if you look above you'll see help is offered.
But wow you book some miles!

Hey all, I posted above. Mine is the Edge with 17k on it (now nearly 18) and Tricia with her crew helped me get it fixed. None of the DIY fixes worked.....I didn't try a replacement, just compressed air and WD40 type stuff. The dealer fixed it and so far it's holding fine. I'm a little unclear on the difference between this fix and the last one.....how they expect this one to work when that one didn't but that's what they say. Supposedly it's worse in colder climates and I'm in Michigan! Touch base with her, good luck!

P.S. None of the cleaning tricks did anything. I think it has to be done by a mechanic.

Ok. I, like may others apparently, am having the same issue. I have owned my edge since February of last year. I currently have about 40k miles on my vehicle so it is out of warranty. I have tried spraying cleaner, but had no luck. Any other help from Ford would be greatly appreciated.
Mine is a 2011 with 17k miles on it. It happened to me April 2013 but was fully covered. Unfortunately it didn't last long! Then it happened again last month but the "new fix" from my understanding is supposed to actually last. Fingers crossed!

Todd will put more effort into it than the normal customer service reps who deal with hundreds of phone calls each day. He'll get it escalated to the right folks who may be able to help.
Just heard from Tricia. Thank you!

Thanks! Done....hopefully he'll write back. I can't believe the dealer. Took it in under warranty, April 2014, they claim they fixed it. Problem came back but now that the warranty time is over I have to pay. 17k miles on this thing. Otherwise I like the vehicle. I have to get it fixed either way, have an apt this Friday at a different dealer. It's called a PM - Private Message.

I'm not sure what you're referring to....if Todd can help I'd be thrilled. How do I contact him? The only number I see is the same Ford customer service I already called.Stubborn much? Todd and the other folks from Ford Service here and on other social media/forums will escalate your case within Ford and get much more attention than just calling the phone number.
Of course if you'd rather just bitch and moan about it than actually get it repaired, that's up to you.
I posted here, called customer service and made a report on safercar.gov (because the vehicle is now dangerous as it won't lock while driving and the dome light stays on). If you have other suggestions I'm happy to hear them.

Thanks....I already contacted Ford customer service. They "documented" it. You know, because that fixes door latches (sarcasm)!Todd is with Ford customer service and may be able to get some assistance for you due to the low mileage. It won't hurt to ask.
They said to see the dealer. Dealer said $350-400 bucks. Even though when they first "fixed" it, it was under warranty.
It's a beautiful vehicle....that I'm about to run off a cliff. How stupid I was to buy a Ford, I've driven Honda for 25 years and NOT ONE PROBLEM! Unfortunately, Honda's are ugly now. Lol.
This vehicle is a serious safety issue.

Thank you! I'll try this. Mine has 17k miles, dealer is worthless. I took it in under warranty, they "fixed" it. But now it's happening again. They now want $350 to "fix" it again!
Didn't work.

Good afternoon everyone!
If you're still experiencing vehicle concerns, let me know. I'll look into options on my end.
Todd
Hi Todd, what options? I followed the YouTube link someone kindly posted but it didn't work for me. I have 17k miles but it's out of warranty time wise. I had taken it in during the warranty period, they "cleaned" it but it came back a year later now out of warranty. I called Ford customer service. They documented it. What's the deal here? Thanks.

My 2011 Edge with 17k miles on it doing the same thing. I took it in while under warranty, they "fixed" it long enough for it to go out of warranty now they want $350 to fix it. NO!!!! I saw a YouTube someone posted, will try that. I called Ford to report, hopefully they'll recall as this is a serious safety issue, driving with the dome light on at night can't be safe and going 70 mph down the freeway with the door unlocked.....
Yea, I'm done with Ford. Years of driving a Honda, should have stuck with that.

The first time my dealer cleaned it. The second time they did the shock thing. Last week (my sister-in-law now owns the car) she said it was replaced. Ugh!!!
