  1. Ford talking about stop sales and buy backs around the same time the media starts asking questions.

    Coincidence?

They can 'talk' about buybacks all they like ... I want some action ... It is pretty bad when I can remember all the prompts on the customer service line to get to a human by heart. And the obligatory survey at the end ... "Is there anything else we can do for you today?" Response "Yes you can address the issue that I called about and got nowhere"

  2. I have yet to see anything that have gone to dealers saying they are issuing stop sales. I can guarantee today I could walk in to a dealer with an Edge on the lot that was built within the date range that was affected, and they'd sell me the car. Also I'd bet that car wouldn't have the fix.

    Hey WingNut,

I would concur. If you go on Ford Canada's website, and 'search inventory', there are a whole mess of Edges in all trims with VIN that are in the FBB0XXXX to FBB4XXXX range available. Entering any of the VINS on Ford ETIS site, the vehicles have the FSA required flag set. I am pretty sure that they have not had the goo applied as the dealer will not be paid for the fix until the vehicle has be purchased. Remember keeping the stakeholders happy is Job #1 - bean-counters are firmly in control of any public company these days.

Will be intesting to see what plays out now that the media has hold of this story, however, it seems that the consumer has grown numb to this poor publicity in light of all the recalls in the last few years. Less than 50K vehicles affected will cause nary a ripple ...

    Remember 'Quality is Job #1'?

  3. Stress, lost sleep??? It is a water leak, pone that can be fixed! You should have other things in your life other then worrying for nothing. It will be fixed or bought back-RELAX!

    Hey Edgey Guy,

You seem to have a lot of knowledge on this subject. My soggy, gutted Edge sits in the rhubarb of the dealer. Its fate is unknown, the dealer, and Ford as well told me they where going to replace the vehicle.

That was two weeks ago, a barrage of phone calls to both Ford Customer Service and the dealer resulted in a large waste of my time. Seems the whole company is either HUA or is awaiting some direction from on high to move on this. Funny, Ford Credit has no issue diving into my bank account for their monthly no so just desserts.

I am pleased that Ford will do the right thing and replace the buggy, After seeing the gutted interior, I was concerned with the amount of wiring that is in the driver's foot well, along with molex type connectors being submerged for only God knows how long.

Do you (or any other folks on this board) have any idea how long this process should take? Sorry for the whining, however there seems to me more people listening on this board than all of Ford Canada.

Perhaps a stop payment with the bank will get Ford's attention.

Thanks All & good luck with all your issues!!!

  4. I have checked and we don't seem to have a lemon law, in Canada, like they do in the USA. What I did find is something called CAMVAP. This is supposed to be a deal where both the owner and the manufacturer present their case to an arbitrator who decides what the settlement, if any, should be. Was just wondering if any of the Canadian Edge owners have tried anything through this CAMVAP system. I think some or all of the funding maybe provided by the manufacturers which may not be good.

Hey Edgy, you are absolutely correct. There is NO lemon law in Canada. CAMVAP is a joke. Slower than the second coming of Christ, and by my understanding, as you pointed out, funded by manufactures. Sure, Sure the little guy will get a fair shake - when pigs fly.

  5. Heard from Ford that my car qualifies for buy back as it failed after they tried to fix based on protocol for recall. Good to see that they're doing right thing.

    Hey Edgeman,

Looks like we are in the same boat! Mine has been at the dealer since mid June, Ford told me last week that it has been deemed 'not repairable', and are going to replace the vehicle. Glad to hear that you are getting a new one. I am not very confident that problems, particularly electronic issues will not continue with the wiring harness being submerged for months. When I seen mine dissamembled at the dealer, was surprised how much wiring was routed beneath the foam floor insulation. Hope your replacement is problem free.

  6.

Must be nice - my dealership told me Ford wasn't paying for loaner cars so I'm SOL.

Call Ford Customer Support. I have had a loaner/rental for almost two weeks now. In Canada. I am sure that Ford CS will talk to the dealer on your behalf. Also ping Trisha (page three in this thread), a Ford Customer Service Rep, who has been work with customers who have had the misfortune of buying these wet wagons. Good Luck - don't ask Ford for a rental/loaner, DEMAND it !!!

  7. Hopefully they can't resolve the issue and keeps you out of it for 30 days.......then lemon law the thing.

    Hey WingNut,

Here in Canada, there is no such law. Any Canadian that thinks there is watches too much television ... Funny, not a peep in the media or internet with regards to this issue. Hmmmmm

  8. I have a brand new Edge Titanium built on April 16th, I began to experience water in driver side flooring within a week of delivery. Took mat out and it dried out. Heavy rains last Sunday evening left approximately an inch of standing water and took it immediately to Ford Dealership. I was informed that a recall was issued and that it would be fixed and returned same day. That has now led to a week and counting, a Ford paid rental for up to 30 days and several failed attempts to fix following FORD's protocol. I went to the shop to get personal belongings out and saw the entire interior of the car stripped out, right down to the studs. Sheet metal and wiring. All the molding, seats, carpeting, etc. were out on the floor and standing water visible on the floor boards. Last word was that they have to pull out the front panel and console to fix seal by fire wall?? Oh by the way, after kicking and screaming, FORD is paying for a 30 day rental. Not of an equal car and yet I still have to make my lease payment. Reading this forum and seeing that Carpet and Mats are back ordered doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling that I'll see my new car anytime soon. Not sure that I want it back at this point. Will the smell of a rotting corpse ever get out of the car? What future damage did all that water do to the electrical system? What happens when I put heat on in winter? What smell will come out of vent. Extremely frustrated with FORD and I've been loyal to ford for nearly 18 years. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hey Edgeman24,

I took delivery of mine late April, and like yourself, it is a Titanium, soaked. It is currently sitting at the dealer's, in pieces like yours. The dealer has been following the 'protocol' from Ford. I am dying to get an idea of what this 'protocol' outlines. The first visit to the dealer for this problem the tech shot some goo in the A-pillar void. Fail. I brought the buggy back early last week, and was given a loaner. The dealer called me on the second day, requesting the loaner be returned. I am now driving a rental which by my understanding, has been reserved by Ford of Canada for thirty days, Like yourself, I have taken delivery of many Fords since 1994. Not sure if I want this one back.

I would like anyone who has more details about the defect, possible long term effects and with luck some support from Ford.

    Sorry for the whining ....

  9. I noticed that there is a date on the bottom of the window sticker...I had my dealer check the actual date of manufacture on one of his vehicles, as they can acquire this information very easily...we found as a general rule the sticker is generated approx 10 - 12 before the actual date of vehicle manufacture. If your dealer tells you any different...they are lying to you...find another dealer. I haven't had time to research the product/sealer specified for the fix.I hope like heck that ford will not be using an acetoxy type sealer, as this WILL cause vehicle rust in the A pillar section where it will be applied.

I'd really love to hear Fords' excuse for this one....Man oh man.

    Hey UltraBlue,

FSA 15B21 instructs dealers to use 3M #08367 or Lord Fusor #803EZ urethane sealants. Links for the MSDS sheets for both products.

My Edge is currently on its second visit to correct this.

Not impressed at all. Hope this helps ...

  10. Hey Edgy43,

Mine has been at the Dealers since Monday. I kicked up a fuss and told them I do not want it back until it FIXED or REPLACED. Ford of Canada told the Dealer to get me a rental. I am driving one of their buzz bomb loaners for now. Ford of Canada would insisted that the rental is a Ford product. I retorted that it does not matter which brand as long as it does not leak !!! They did not find that very amusing. I told them, that for my next trick maybe the next payment could leak out of my bank ....

Insist that they change out the carpets, check all the electronics and take it through a car wash or two to ensure that no more water will leak into the cabin.

    Good Luck !!!

  11. ...More bull...from Ford. They don't have a clue or can get a handle on it. I spoke with the owner of the leak company Ford is using in Canada...They are fixing LOTS! They have 20 guys working around the clock fixing all these leaks at various dealerships. This company wants to remain "nameless" They are Oakville based, run/owned by an ex Ford Manager. Very interesting conversation I had but all off the record. Nothing was said that was disparaging about Ford or the Edge, Quite the opposite, he praised the Edge! just that there are some troubles and this leak company is fixing them all. They are taking out interiors, fixing all the known leaks after testing...disinfecting, cleaning bio-ciding(?) the floor pan and interior component and installing all new underlayment. It s taking them about 3-4 hours per vehicle. He tells me they have fixed around 400+ so far and next week they will be working from 6:00 a.m. until midnight every day and tis weekend they will knock off about 40 or so....

    Hey Edgey Guy,

Do you happen to have the name of this company? Hell, I will drive from Ottawa to Oakville to get this corrected. Going to the office with soggy feet is getting pretty old ... Thanks.

  12. That sound like my 2nd VIN. the 1st leaked and my 2nd had all of the same problems as yours. the Techs thru everything but the kitchen sink at it, a new gateway module and other body control items. long story shot after 2 weeks the deal gave me the 3rd

VIN and so far no leaks or elctronic problems. if you VIN last 5 is close to 19358 then you might be in the same batch of issues. hope the dealer takes care of you. good luck

    Hey Losthawaiian,

My understanding is if your current Edge was built after 4/28/2015, you are good. Seems they figured out what the issue that was causing the Great Lakes Watershed to form inside your vehicle. You can go to Ford ETIS website, and under the tab Vehicle, plug your VIN into the 'VIN Entry' field, and the site will check if there are any outstanding issue with your Edge. URL for the site is https://www.etis.ford.com/.

Hopefully third time is a charm for you.

    Cheers!

  13. I think that WingNut is spot on. They are flogging the Edge like a dead horse ... look at the numbers for May

Sales of the all-new Ford Edge established a May sales record, with sales up 34 percent and turning in just 13 days on dealer lots.

  14. Hey WingNut,

They sequested the wet wonder in a service bay while keeping me blissfully distracted. We where under a Tornado watch here in the Ottawa Valley last night, so with that, I just drove the Edge home, and left it outside for a bath, hoping that the OUTSIDE would get wet, keeping the INSIDE dry. FAIL!!!! The weather has cleared around here, so I will have a look at the band-aid they attempted to pass of as a repair today.

I am a little bit leary of ripping all the trim bits of (as rattles often accompany such actions) but will see if I can find something photogenic that is worth sharing with all.

Stay tuned for the next episode of as the carpets mold

  15. Hey Folks,

Had the Edge in yesteday ... Pissed - SA tells me the the TSB is currently 'incomplete' - which says to me 'we have an idea there is a problem, but do not know thing one on how to correct it.' The tech applied some goo in the A piller seams, where the defect(s) is supposed to be according to the TSB. Just for fun, as I suspected, the electronics are now acting up. Front camera requires service, BLIS requires service, lift gate will not operate ... rear window defogger works slower than the second comming of Christ ... Not to mentions having to get the trusty shop vac out every freaking day to hoover the soggy carpets,

Might put this puppy on e-bay to the highest bidder, or gas and a match ....

  16. Hey Folks,

I fould this on Ford's Etis system. I have a leaky 2015 Edge Titanium, which is scheduled to be looked at today,

    Outstanding Field Service Actions

15B21 - A-PILLAR WATER LEAK INSPECTION AND REPAIR
From what I understand, 'Field Service Action' is a manditiory repair. Not quite as compelling as a TSB, but indicates that Ford is well aware of a defect on the 2015 Edge.
I will share the outcome with you all after the dust settles post dealer visit today.
    Cheers !

  17.

He hasn't returned and given his location I have a feeling he is tied to the plant. The 14 areas are probably possible areas that may have not sealed. So they are probably looking at affected cars and seeing where most, if not all, are leaking from before issuing an official TSB. But who knows.

I have a bad feeling that this is going to develop into a big wee wee game with Ford. My liftgate has stopped working from the dash button, key fob or switch on the gate itself. Wet wires? Perhaps should have kept the 2012 ...

  18.

The more you read, the worse it makes it. Because you see it is widespread and there isn't a peep coming from Ford. Their focus is on the ones that haven't left the factory / holding lots. Because those are the ones that'll cost them the most if they don't get it fixed. The ones in the customer's hands are just repair whenevers.

The post from Edgy_Guy mentioning 14 areas of concern is scary ... Water pooling in areas that do not have any fresh air to dry is a sure fire way for serious rust to start ... I wonder if the sealant was on back order when they started assembling the new Edge. Mine has heated/cooled seats, all the bells and whistles, and it is very concerning what will happen with a soggy/soaked/waterlogged wiring harness. Not to mention mold and giving up the new car smell for the stink of a dark damp basement. Not at all impressed.

  19. First of all, welcome to all the new members in the community!

Hi Tricia, do you have a counterpart in Canada? My new 2015 Edge is one sad, soggy, mess

  20.

LOL Looks like they are doing a "bang up" job in Oakville.

Yup, bang-up for sure ... One of the Toronto Daily newspapers was touting the excelence of the Canadian workers in Oakville, boasting about the build quality of the new Edge ... I guess that it did not rain during the period that they did the review ... Had a 2012 Edge, loved it, had to part with it as milage was getting a bit too high ... Wondering if I made the right decision ... Will let you know what song the Dealer sings tomorrow ....
