I installed the new hub over the weekend. Like others have written, the best way to get the old hub out is to remove the side leather trim strip, and loosen the little cover behind where the hub fits. I also had to loosen the lower hard-plastic trim in order to get at the tabs on the hub.
I was excited about doing this since carplay is so new. But after trying it for a couple of days, I'm disappointed by the lack of supported apps and overall lack of functionality. No google maps, no waze, Apple Maps is.. 'meh'. I tried Slacker Radio, one of the few carplay compatible streaming music apps, but no clock or outside temps display when the app is active. Also, Slacker doesn't show cover art that I'm used to seeing when playing music from USB or bluetooth. I have a Sandisk 128GB USB flash stick that worked fine with the old hub, but is no longer compatible. It gave me a "this device draws too much power" message - from a 1/2"long usb stick! In its current incarnation, Carplay is very much a 1.0 release. Maybe it will grow on me, but it needs a lot of work.

It's a matter of personal preference. I put LED's in my 2015 Sport's DRL spot, they match the signature lights and really make the front look mean. I wish I could have them on in Park, too!
djrjr - What bulb type/part/kelvin did you put in? Source? I'm a bit confused by all the lighting options.

Jason - Do you know if you can disable the faux-engine-noise coming out of the speakers via programming?

I got this unfortunate error when I started my car this morning. Along with the error, none of the steering wheel controls worked. I turned off the car, waited a couple minutes & restarted, same issue. Once at work and pissed off at my new broken Edge, I scheduled a service visit. But when I restarted the car after work, the warning disappeared and all seems well. Let's hope it's a one-time thing.
What's funny is that the message displays the OK button, but because the steering wheel buttons don't work, you can't dismiss it. Thanks engineers..

My only real issue withy Sync 3 is how it handles longer audio tracks on my usb-stick. I have a lot of podcasts/concerts/sets that are 1hr+ long, and I like to skip forward 3-5mins or more.. It's annoying to have to hold down the ffwd button on the steering wheel or sync display and wait... I wish there was a skip 15sec button like on the iphone, or better yet, a way to seek in a progress bar.

Shout out to you for posting this thread HappyHour! It saved my installer a lot of time & I now have focal 165s in the front & back doors. They're a world of difference better compared to the mud that was coming out of the sony speakers. I kept the stock sub as it is sufficient for me, at least for the time being.

I took delivery of my Sport on Wednesday afternoon. It had just 6 miles on it, so I am essentially the first driver. We had 16" of snow on Monday, so I haven't driven it much as I've not had a chance to wax/protect it yet. Let my old car take all the road gravel hits. A clear bra and front window tint went on today though.
Timeline:
Order Date: Nov 24
Received VIN: Dec 17
Build Date: Week of Jan 11
Transit Status: Jan 20 - On railcar in Flowers, IN
Rail Termination: Feb 1
Pickup Date: Feb 3
A few observations:
I'm glad I waited for sync 3 and the heated steering wheel. Both are must-haves for me. Sync 3 is responsive and intuitive. Tons of functions!
Exhaust sound is great
All-weather mats - meh.. The weathertechs are much better
Body fit & Finish is good but not stellar. One of the seams is ~1-2mm off - the front bumper to quarter panel wheel well. I've seen this on almost all the other Edges I looked at.
& yes there's a power telescoping steering wheel! LOL

Anyone knows if this site to get the window sticker still works ? http://researchmaniacs.com/Ford/TrackFactoryCarOrders.html Any of you waiting for the news 2016 got a sticker at some point with this tool ?
Thanks .... I can't wait ... I'm getting crazy ... my 2016 has scheduled build day for 1-27 :P
Sepa - This sticker URL worked for me beginning on my build date of 1/11, and generated a page with the correct color/options. None of the other URLs work with my VIN. My sticker is also labeled with "special order" in the item number section. The waiting is driving me nuts too! I wish Ford came out with the '16 back in October along with all the other models.

I had no problem ordering mine with those options back in November, though the Adaptive Cruise was bundled with the 401A package, and I believe the rear belts were as well. Call the 800 number, or PM the FordService rep on the Edge order thread, perhaps they can help?

Is yours a Titanium as well?
Sport, white.

My build is also scheduled for the week of January 11. My order was placed on November 9. I signed the deal on November 7. I was a bit upset that they took so long to place the order, but it sounds like it got scheduled pretty early so I am not too upset. My order priority was 12.
Well I have a build date of January 11 as well! Let the countdown begin.

Stage 3 Audi B5 S4's make 420+HP, and coincidentally are 2.7 twin turbos. The problem at high boost are intercoolers, and fuel, and...

My order is now in with the dealer & I'm taking bets on delivery date with my friends. I'm hoping for late January, around the 28th.
K4A - 2016 Edge Sport AWD
UG - White Metallic
401A - Technology Package
63A - Adaptive Cruise Control
55C - Cold Weather Package
43P - Vista Sunroof
153 - Front Lic Plate bracket (not on the web configurator, but required by law in my state)- 1

Search the net for low-profile chains. There are plenty of options from $70 on up. The Thule k-summit looks good, though expensive. It's less than a new set of tires/wheels though.

My Dealer emailed me today stating they they can order the 2016 and asked me to come down with a deposit check. The car will come out of their initial allotment.
-
When I spoke to my dealer last month, they said they would order one from their initial allocation using my specs. Hearing about the job 1 potential issues, I'm having second thoughts about that approach. I'd rather not risk getting one of the early run cars, despite the minimal changes from the '15s.
Fingers crossed there is not strike or other delay.. Waiting for this car has been an exercise in patience. I had to dump another $1.5k into my 13yr old car just to keep it going until the new year.

I actually really like the light bar in the headlamps in the EU model.
Me too. Here is a closer look at the Euro Headlamp:

Sport, AWD. White, but will consider Magnetic if it is available.
Loaded except for DVD & 21s.
Fingers crossed for:
Heated steering wheel
Pano-roof with rails
Hitch

Unfair is right!
Small consolation, but you'll soon be able to order some of these parts aftermarket from ebay or aliexpress. I'll bet you'll be able to source the rear window controllers if you can find the part #. I did notice that the Chinese model fog lights have chrome trim (no LED surround) so they have to go after-market too. http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&SearchText=ford+edge+2015
You can even order "Bonnet hood character trim" to let everyone know how important you are! -
Oh, and IMO the only steering wheel worthy of upgrading to is from the Focus RS. Why can't Ford put these in all their 'sport' models? 1000x better than the Edge sport wheel!

Check that Cabin Air Filter
in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
Posted · Edited by arfedge
Thanks Enigma.
Gen II Edge owners - Here is the aftermarket Activated Charcol filter that fits the 2.7 & 3.5 (2.0 unverified): https://www.amazon.com/automotive-FA-21-Carbon-Activated-Premium/dp/B01IW17N3U It is definitely sturdier/denser than the OEM one.
Installation is a bit different as well. There is a little lever on the outboard side of the glovebox that you loosen, then press up on the two tabs on the top that keep the glovebox from dropping. You'll then need to remove two screws before you can access the filter. After removing the screws, be careful popping off the side tabs next to the screws. I broke one of mine. Not a big deal since the screw is what holds the cover in place, but they are thin plastic.
