If anyone has questions regarding the Smartlink system for the Edge, post here. I work for a dealer, and we ended up with 10 of these by mistake.

FYI, it's up to each dealer whether they sell these. As in, the dealer has to agree to pay a fee to be a "selling dealer" for these, then they have to order them in quantities of 10. We were not enrolled in the program, but they sent them to us anyway (accidentally). They are registered to the dealership, meaning they can't be transferred between them. They also must be activated and installed by the dealer (if I remember correctly). There's an entire training course on these things on Ford's site.

It's somewhat funny that I see this thread, because we had a customer asking about these about 1-2 months ago. They had just barely been released at that point I believe. I thought about getting one for my Edge as well, but so far, haven't.

Yep, same thing happens on mine. It's been washed a few times and it's come back. Less each time though.

They can add it. He'll just get another FOB.

 

My dealer told me they could add roof rails to the SEL that didn't have factory rails. True for 2014....not true for 2015. I found this out by researching it myself and then called him back furious.

True. Just found this out today. The manager emailed Ford about it. The cross bars offered only fit factory roof rails and they don't have accessory ones that work yet.

I've got to bring my Edge in tomorrow or Thursday for another repair. If there's time, I'm going to have them check the seat too. If they do, I'll post back what happens.

 

That's why I mentioned asking the guy on this forum that has access to the manuals...I just don't know his name lol. Help anyone?

Yes, the Edge does have a blower motor in the base of the seat as well as the back.

Fishy, how so? Cars come in mis-built all the time. When the mechanic hooks the computer (IDS) up to the car, they can access the code directly. I could certainly see it being possible that the code on the card doesn't match.

Ok, the tech got a response. More of a non-response really though.

 

"At this time, TSB 15-0140 is not applicable to this vehicle and cannot be performed to resolve this concern.

 

Since the backrest of the driver's seat is not cooling properly, we recommend checking the passenger's seat backrest to determine if it is cooling. If the back rest for the passenger seat is cooling, but the driver's side is not cooling, it is suspected the blower motor for the driver's backrest is either clogged, the air ducting is loose, or the motor inlet or outlet is clogged. Check for restrictions and correct installation for the backrest blower motor as per workshop manual section 501-10A and re-evaluate the cooling concern."

Alright, I found a tech here to help me. He's going to contact the Ford tech hotline and see what they have to say about the problem; see if the TSB for the F-150 can be applied to this, or if they have another fix.

 

Ok, the tech sent the request in and I'll probably get a response tomorrow.

The updated blower assy for the F-150 is only listed under the 2015 TSB. The part number is GU5Z-19N550-B. When you look it up in the catalog, both the Edge and F-150 motor lists as GU5Z-19N550-A. So I wonder if the updated part for the F-150 will work and if that's Ford will do. I'll likely bring my Sport in and see what the techs here think. Maybe I can see if one can contact the hotline and see if they have an interim fix or something.

Ya know, I was starting to think it didn't have cooling in the back part of the seat. Checked the parts catalog, and it does indeed have 2 cooling fans per seat. The fan motor for both the F-150 and the Edge are the same. As mentioned, no TSB for the Edge, only the F-150 and it basically says to just cut away some of the material from the inside of the seat cover..

 

The TSB for the F-150 has a date of Sept. 8th.

How much is one from the dealer?

Ford's suggested list price is $135.99. Up to each dealer if they sell it for more or less.

If I could, I'd give you my Ford log in to access the shop manual.

If I have the time, I don't mind posting the process for what you want to know.

The Fusion is the same way to change the headlight or other front bulb; the bumper has to be removed. :/

Hmmm... I just looked at that on your pic. I totally skipped the "remove front bumper cover" part. You don't have screen shot of how to get that off, do you?

Yeah I have access to it. It's 11 steps, so I should probably do it when I get home and get a proper screenshot. Be a mess taking pics via my tablet.

According to the pressure monitor, mine are all at 36. The driver's door should have a sticker about the tires and what psi they should be set at.

Yeah, the 12 speaker system has a "sub". Or at least it's a speaker in an enclosure. Can't speak to the type or quality of said speaker though.

The catalog only lists this 1 part number, so atm only this color.

 

Ok, here's the cover installed in my Sport. Works well. The part number listed above is correct. The sides are spring loaded so it's pretty easy to take in and out.

I work at a dealership and we showed a few of these in stock, so I took some pics. I was curious about a cargo shade as well. Not sure if they'll help; my Edge is a bit far away to test if this fits but I should be able to within the next few days.

 

Edit:

OK so I see what happened now. In the parts catalog, if you go to 2015 Edge it's listed under both truck and car. The truck only applies to 2014 and below though, and 2015, you actually have to use car (I assume due to it now being on the Fusion chassis). The part number listed is correct for '15 Edges. I'm going to take one home this evening and see if I like it. Even at cost it's a tad pricey.
