  1. I'm looking to get my hands on some tint film for my headlights that are similar to the transition lenses on some eyeglasses. Where the the film darkens when exposed to the uv rays of the sun but lightens to pretty much clear under darkness or artificial light. Have any of you seen anything like this? I realize it may be expensive but I would like an alternative to my current smoked film I have on my headlights now. Any help, links etc..would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Thanks everyone for your replies! I ended up plasti dipping chrome grill, left on and masked around them. Also dipped my rims black and also the edge, limited and awd emblems. Also blacked out large ford emblems in front and back but didn't like it so removed them. Went with white dip on spoilers below front and back bumpers and also dipped the bottom of doors and rocker panels. Just added the carbon fiber rally stripe yesterday. Let me know what you all think.

  3. Hello fellow Edge enthusiasts. I just recently ordered the primed 3 piece grill insert described in the following link

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-thru-2014-Edge-OEM-Genuine-Ford-Parts-Custom-Grille-Grill-Inserts-NEW-/161104896124?fits=Make%3AFord%7CModel%3AEdge

I am going to have it painted. Debating on black or white (my limited is white). Any opinions on color?

My big question is has anyone gone the grill insert method to change the color of their grille? If so, does these inserts fit over existing chrome or do you remove the original before installing these 3 pieces? If you do in fact remove the original, anyone have detailed instructions? Also, instructions on how to install the newly painted inserts either over existing grill or without existing grill. Any and all info would be appreciated. Thanks!!

  4. Need your help. I installed the V3 switchback signals for my 2011 edge. After installation, the drivers side front signal wouldnt work right. Now after I installed stock bulbs back in, the left turn signal won't work. Bulbs are good and after putting a meter to the turn signal positive wire, i seem to not be getting power.

Anyone know what can cause this? All other lights are working, parking and alll other turn signals. Is there a relay, fuse, etc that would control just this one drivers front signal?

  5. Oh, the color temperature is all the same on the LED lights but taking a denent photo I found is nearly impossible. They don't however have the same color temperature as my HID headlights though. I can control all of the lights with a two switches mounted near the drivers side door. The ground affect lights are never on while driving. I power them by tapping into the dome supervision, the mirror puddle lights. This wire was located under the driver side sill plate. I removed it, tracked the wire down and tied into that. The ground affect lights come on and go off automatically with the factory settings. Unlock doors/entry and exit.

The switch install was pretty much a must as I wanted to be able to override the front LED's as they come on automatically at ignition start and turn off when I cut the ignition. I installed them in the upper part of the door sill piece while I had it off when tracking the dome supervision wire. I originally was going to install it on the dash like my previous car but there is now a steel plate there. I thought the upper sill was the next best option. Thanks for the comments, fellow EDGE fans!

  6. I did something similar on my 07 and I just completed the project on my 2011 LIMITED. All of the interior lights have been upgrated to LED's and I also installed DRL strips and entry ground affect lights. I know this look isn't for everyone but I like it and enjoy the projects. Let me know what you guys and gals think after watching my video...

  7. Thanks for your replies everyone. They are working now. I pulled them out and the wires were crossed. But also, I think the bulbs inside the sealed cases were not seated properly. I tapped on them a bit, quite hard and that seemed to fix the prob. I did the led puddle lamp mod myself on my last edge and will be doing it again on this one. I wanted to make sure there was no power issue with the original wiring before I did it though.

  8. I would like to have my led under dash lights to work with the dome control feature of my edge in where the lights turn off and on when the puddle and dome lights do. I would also like to have the same led lights work off of a switch that I have wired to a spare fuse. This way the car can handle the normal entry and dome supervision of the lights but when I'm driving, I would like the option to turn just the under dash lights without turning the rest of the interior lights on. How would i go about this? Would I need a diode of relay on each positive wire to prevent damage to the lights or the existing wiring of my car? What type of size of diode or relay would I need and where should I place them?

  9. I would splice into the wire that is already running from the switch to the LED's with a wire coming from the factory harness controlling the dome supervision (puddle and interior lights). Is this safe and would this work to give me options of when the LED's are lit? I def want the car controlling them for entry (like other dome and puddle lights) but would also like the option to run them when the factory setup has turned the remaining entry and puddle lights off. The obvious answer would be to just use the dial switch to turn them back on but I obviously wouldnt want to be driving with the rest of the interior and puiddle lights on. I would appreciate anyones help on this. Below is a crude mockup of how I want to wire these.

  10. You could run an additional power wire from your switch to one of the 12v power wires in the harness.

Any need for a fuse or anything? Worried about power surge or something to the factory line that controls my dome supervision such as my puddle lights, etc...I was thinking of simply having those two hot lines tied into the LED's, just wasn't sure if it was safe for the factory wiring...

  11. Thanks Cellbine. I def want them to work with the entry part of things. That's why I wanted so bad to find this solution. NOW that I have it figured out, I would like to see if its possible to have these on (sometimes) while driving. I already have the initial strips wired to a switch I installed in my dash. I'm going to add more but first I will take care of wiring them now directly to the entry system wiring.
