I would assume it has to do with the AWD using more fuel and needing a bigger tank for range? Sort of seems like they should just have one tank size on the car to reduce production costs...

Not sure what others think of the 20" Pirellis tires, I am not a Pirelli fan -- had the P6's on my old Volvo S60 and they were junk. Apparently they were reformulated but I had 2 bad sets of P6's.
I am a Michelin guy - when I get the MKX I may see if I can get Michelins on the 20"s I have had great experiences with Michelins - you get what you pay for!!
-
I think you should be able to park any vehicle with out using the parking brake and having to worry about this rolling issue -- I have made it a habit to just use the P.B. every time I park no matter what but this issue sounds like it is something that needs to be corrected.

I had a honda that did this and am going to get a MKX. Guess I'll be using my parking brake every time!

I test drove a MKX this past weekend with the 20" and found the ride to be just fine. I am picky too, I don't like a bumpy, thumpy ride and I felt the ride of the MKX with the 20" was great (for me).
Keep in mind, cost for tire replacement with the 20" will be higher...

Bill,
Thanks so much for the info. I though there may have been some slight cooling of the seat back on the MKX that I drove... I could with out question feel some MAJOR cooling on the seat bottom which will be great as I live in S. FL and am considering a black on black MKX.
-
This weekend I asked the dealer where I test drove about the 2009s he said he expects to be able to order them in about a month and at that time they should have info on the 2009 updates (if any).
-
Thanks for the note, I would really like it if the seat back was cooled as well however glad the seat bottom is cooled.
-
Thanks for the note, they seem great but in the car I test drove I could only feel the cooling on the bottom of the seats and I could feel great circulation -- I could not however feel anything cooling on the seat back, perhaps it was a fluke?

Hello everyone - I live in S FL and test drove (again) another MKX today and have a question about the cooled seats:
1.) Does the cooling function just cool the seat bottom
2.) Does the cooling function cool both the seat bottom and the seat back?
I couldn't tell, please let me know?
Thanks!

Yep, I ended up buying a set of 5000k and they work perfect. The projector lamps that come with the MKX make them look like a factory set of HID's. I had to ensure there was plenty of slack in the wiring because when the headlights would turn they would unplug themselves !
I was torn between 5000k and 6000k and I'm glad I chose the way I did. They 5k's have a nice little flicker of blue depending on what angle you look at them. Couldn't be happier. I bought them from retrosolutions ebay auctions. They are cheaper on his Ebay listings than they are in the group pricing listed on this site.
X-cellent!! I just test drove (again) a MKX today and was under the hood looking at the head light module. So glad to hear they work, I bet they look great with the MKX's projectors. I am set on a MKX just holding to see what 2009 brings. Will get a set through retrosolutions as well.
Thanks for posting!

bbf,
Thanks for the reply. I am really looking hard at the MKX, most likely will hold off until July/Aug but am thinking of going with the 20" I'll keep up to date on the forum and then make up my mind.
Thanks for the great summary.

I was JUST searching for INFO on the 20" rims on the MKX here on the forum last night. I couldn't tell if people were upset with the ride on the 20s" (rougher) or the overall quality of the wheel finish "cladding" was not meeting expectations.
Do I see that there are two issues perhaps:
1.) Ride quality on the 20"s is not as good
2.) Finish of the cladding is not acceptable after mileage and washings?

Has anyone upgraded the brakes/pads on their Edge/MKX's How about the Brake Lines - to Stainless Braid???
-
I wonder if ColdOnes did the MKX HID light upgrade? I am thinking of a 08/09 MKX and the FIRST thing I do is add the HID's to the adaptive projectors! Any insights?

I have seen some of these "for life" "specials" now and again. I am in FL and now and again Palm Beach Acura will run free tires and oil changes for life as a end of month incentive...

Hello everyone,
I am looking at a Lincoln MKX and the biggest issue I have with the MKX is that I can't get HID/Xenon's. I really like what some of you have done with the EDGE HID install.
I wonder if this system can be used on the MKX? The MKX has the projector lights -- with adaptive lighting?
Any thoughts?

Edge and MKX are late 2009's. They will be running 2008's til Aug maybe Sep. Not sure what changes there will be yet.
Steve
Thanks Steve, I wonder if the MKX is following what the MKZ and Fusion are doing. From what I read on the MKZ forum, there is going to be a "limited" short run of 2009's before they bring out the 2010s?

Does anyone know when are dealers able to order the 2009 MKX?
-
Anyone with thoughts on the 2009 MKX and HID/Xenon's?
When can 2009's be ordered?
-
As I am getting to know the Lincoln MKX here is what I hope for in 2009:
HID/Xenon Headlights
Better brakes
True dual exhaust - or more power with same MPG's!
Full wood interior - get rid of the silver interior components
A new key fob that is like the Land Rover/Jag fobs where the key folds into the fob
HID/Xenon Headlights (did I say that ;-) - this is a must...
Oh and a back-up cam.

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and have to say over the past week I have gotten to know the MKX and am impressed. Lots of bang for the buck, good contenting, what I really like is the style (I LOVE IT!) and the fact that it runs on REGULAR gas!
What I JUST realized is that the 2008 MKX does NOT offer HID (Xenon) lights - you can get the adaptive but NOT HID/Xenon - right?
Is it me or am I crazy? Lincoln has TXH, heated&cooled seats, adaptive headlights, all sorts of content but NO HID/Xenon? In this segment - I feel like they are a must have??
I just saw online that the 2008 MKZ sedan offers HID lights?
I am coming from BMW and will have to say, the HID lights are a must-have for me. I am shocked as when I saw "adaptive head-lights" I assumed they were HID?!
I sure hope they are offered in 2009 -- any insights?

Well it is interesting to see Toyota following Ford. I have to say the Toyota has nice interior fit and finish however, I like the styling of the Edge/MKX better.
What is good for the Ford and Lincoln products is that I believe their redesign is coming up for 2010 so they will be able to "one-up" Toyota and refine a already very very good platform.
I have never owned a domestic vehicle but after shopping everything, and I really mean everything out there -- I landed on the MKX and can't wait to place my order. I am very very proud of Ford and Lincoln for designing this vehicle and I have very high standards. My other ride is a BMW 7 Series (keeping it) so Kudos to Ford/Lincoln for bringing me home!!
