I have a 2008 Limited and I think my brakes are excellent. I have put them to the test. I drove a Subaru STI before and done a lot of auto crossing. It took a little while to get used to the differences, but even pulling a Lowboy trailer weighing around 2000lbs I find the brakes more than adequate. I am with LEX probably would upgrade when I wear out the factory pads but not until then.
Was there a change in the brakes between 2007 and 2008?

Have a 2007 MKX am now on my second PTU unit.
First repaired after 6000 miles with a new seal.
Brought it back 1 month later after smelling smoke again.
they said they couldn't see anything.
2 weeks later, had it back in again for a new PTU.
3 months later, started to leak again.
Just picked it up from the dealer again! This time they figured out that the axle had slight
scoring on it which ruined a bearing and seal. So New Axle and New PTU. We'll see what happens next.
Are the new 08's having the same problem?
Looks like my 08 Limited AWD is leaking now! I will have to take it to the dealer soon. My first problem with the Edge. Yep at the dealer now leak was PTU> mechanic tells me there is a new seal design along with better support bearing to take pressure off of the seal if I understood him correctly. Leak started around 25000 miles I guess. In a loaner Focus now all they had. Waiting on parts. Dropped off Monday and they tell me probably Monday before repair 7 days. Mechanic said about 2 hrs to repair.

Went to my dealer with my with the printed paper. Service guy says I have no clue and is supposed to call me when he finds something out.
It sucks that we have must go to the dealer when what they said you will be able to upgrade yourself using a thumb drive.

For future reference I was told the inside of the bumper is scribed where to cut.
I had the hitch installed at the dealer only because something else was getting done. (door alignment).
I wanted the hitch hidden as much as possible so I went with the factory one.

I tried that last night for demonstration purposes when I dropped it at the dealer. They had none in stock, but they had a Mustang with it in stock and it sounded far better than my Edge. When I pick it up tonight, I'll try to go through that motion again. We even set the volume to the exact same level on both for comparison.
I wonder if something might be wrong with your NAV disc? Thats assuming your radio sounds good.
Try it in another NAV vehicle maybe.

Hey, let me know how that goes. I would like to know if I should do the same thing and bring it in to the dealer.
Remember it is not a person it is a machine. I never yell at mine and can talk softly to it. ONly time I have any problem is when people in the car are talking when I am trying to tell it a command. I have a buddy from work and he yells at his cell phone, cracks me up. I can get his cell phone and talk softly to it and bam it works just fine.
I am sure it just is not understanding you, nothing to do with the volume of your voice. Make sure you are looking forward and don't have head turned when saying a command.
Oh I will mention this is southeast Texas and you know us Texicans have the drawl thing going, Yee Haw.
Good Luck

I have the problem reversed! My SYNC is so loud everytime I hit the media button, and it's driving me nuts. Do I really have to quickly turn the volume down right after pushing the MEDIA button every time? Is there no way to set a specific volume for her voice (and the incoming phone calls) so my eardrums are spared?
Especially when I have to hit the button every time I get in the car otherwise it plays the same darn song over and over and over. I have to tell it every time to PLAY ALL. I don't understand why there is no way to set these the way I want them and for the car to remember that! Is that so hard??

The oil cooler is typically a separate unit mounted next to the radiator.
I checked on ford parts.com and the oil cooler for the tow package is $113.90. It also listed a oil cooler for a edge without the towing package, it was $66.00.
Must just be a bigger cooler and I am guessing easy to install.
No price for the towing radiator and fans though.
-
well, I think that is fairly obvious.. but it does not answer the question as to having the t-cooler, or what looks damn near just like the one in the documentation, but yet not having ordered the official Tow Package. if that is there, he was just wondering what else might be there as it seems that should not be, or do we all have it and in fact, they just add the larger battery, hitch, wiring, fan at order time.
until others post up whether they have no official Tow Package, but yet what looks to be the t-cooler, this is still an interesting mystery
I am thinking you don't have it. A trans cooler is not the same as a engine oil cooler and it says oil cooler. I will look on my edge and see, also I will call my buddy at the ford parts counter and see if I can get a look at the parts pics at the dealership. I would like to get the oil cooler, Radiator and fans to install because I want the maximun protection, not that I will tow 3500 lbs but I might get into some mountains and I think it would be wise to have it.

You can find the directions on Ford.com I have a 2008, the directions say 2007 but they worked just fine. Not the best walk through but the pictures might help.

Red power wire route under drivers door kick panel
Red power wire route under passenger door kick panel. There is a wire protector to run the wire through. You will see the harness allready running through.
Cutt the tape on the factory harness. gray wire with brown stripe connects to the yellow wire from the relay box. I cut the harness and the soldered and covered with a shrink sleeve.
Picture of drivers side shrink sleeves completed. Follow the directions and you should be fine.

I installed the Ford factory Harness today. I would say the 4.5 hours is about right! You have to take both rear panels off. Is not that difficult as said above but time consuming. I looked at the Uhaul harness and they use squeeze on connectors that cut into the wire. Ford harness says to soldier and use shrink sleeves to cover the connection. I did it the ford way. I know the ford harness also has a lead you connect to the battery for it's power for the box, not sure the others have this and how it will affect the operation of the lights in the long term. I did take a bunch of pictures during the install, if I have time I will post them.
I am glad it is done!
I also want to check into the oil cooler, larger Radiator and fans.

My 2008 limited rides great with the 20" wheels like silk.

Got it back from the dealer and the door looks great now.

Both of our front doors are off, a lot. Seems to be a pretty common problem.
Of the 10 or so on the lot ours was the worst, but a couple were close.
I pointed it out to our salesman, he acted like he had never seen anything like it before ( ). I also mentioned that our crossover trade in (BMW) would never have made it to the ship with misalignments like this. We agreed to wait till the first oil change (or warranty work).

That's exactly what I was thinking, I have owned many fords and everyone has had to be taken back for one reason or another when new. The Subaru's, the Honda, the Toyota never had to do anything but drive them. Not Complaining mind you it's just obvious fords quality control has a some gaps.

2008 limited AWD, I noticed the door was not aligned properly from the factory. Since I have built, painted many cars I decided I would adjust it myself. It is just 4 bolt and a easy job. I loosened the bolts and tried moving the top of the door in, it moved alittle but not enough because the bolts were at there limits in the holes of the door hinges. I decided to take it in and let the dealer look at it, sure enough they called and was asking me if I wanted them to file the holes larger or grind the shouldered bolt. I told them to go ahead and file the bolts holes, I do not think it will take much to get the door to align properly.
This is the only problem I have had and am truely loving the EDGE.

Hey all, New to the Forum
Picked up a 2008 AWD Limited with nav
Black on Black
It was hard to find the AWD limited here in Texas.
I really did not care about the nav or the big ole moon roof, but I got a heck of a deal I think with the X plan and all the incentives so I am Happy.

You could Tap off the power supply if you choose, but once you have all the rear panels removed to mount the box and tap to the wiring harness it is not much more to run power to the front. Basicaly all you have to do is remove the two plastic kick panels on the front and rear doors.
