  1. Thanks. I also see how good of an idea it is to change ptu fluid regularly. I just changed mine a couple times but could not get it clean. Actually had gunk on suction tube I used to drain. Fluid really breaks down these things must overheat. So since I had it off I decided to pull apart to give it a good cleaning. I caught it just in time. I have to replace a couple bearings and it is not perfect but is ok. It made no noises before and was smooth but very close to complete failure. I should get a while out of it now. Only 82000 miles. I know there is many other posts about this that I haven't read. There is not much fluid in them. I will now change mine yearly at a minimum. Hopefully all goes well my uncle is helping me who knows what he's doing. I'll post what I find in trans

  2. It's on the trans bench now ready to come apart. I believe $800 with new torque converter rebuild kit and the parts that supposedly caused this mess. Fluid coming out was extremely clean no burnt smell. I may not have to rebuild just fix what went wrong. Only 82000 on it. But it isn't the easiest thing to pull so maybe I'll just do it all. Just depend how good of shape it is. Took me 5 hours to pull trans I imagine guys that do it all the time and know what to do can really do it fast. This was my first time. Going back in will be a lot better. I will post what we find so it might benefit others maybe some pictures. Anybody who has been in one any words of advice would be great

  3. I guess very knowledgable all he does is trans. He said a seal starts to leak by shaft somewhere then it overheats the clutch packs for 2-4. There is a wave plate that then loses its spring and that's the cause. I guess it takes a while for final problem to appear. Once we told him the issues he immediately said this was the problem and had parts to fix it. I dunno hope hes right a lot of work for nothing otherwise. When it shift 3rd to forth it goes into like a false nuetral for a second or 2 then catches good no slip. Just wanna be done with it honestly

  4. Sorry 23-24 sorry typed wrong. 34 would be great but a dream. What were you symptoms that your engine problems caused specifically. I'm not saying it can be just wierd cause trans is actually going into like a false neutral momentarily. I'm not going to say it can't be anything, I'll check all the other stuff. What do I need for pcv valve. I had already pulled the neg lead on battery with no affects

  5. I had it hooked to a modis scanner. It is starting to misfire on #1 cylinder but very slightly still run smooth and pulls 34 mpg the misfire is so slight it shouldn't be an issue to transmission. How would these issues make the trans seem like it goes into neutral briefly before picking up 4th. Just wondering in the tss or oss could cause this or if engine issue actually could. It's not like the engine cuts out it actually revs just like you push in the clutch Then 4th hits. No slipping

  6. I know there are other topics on here about this which I have read a lot of. I haven't found a lot of causes reported once fixed. While shifted from 3 to 4 it revs like in neutral. It does it slightly in another gear to. It did not start doing it gradually just all of the sudden. Seems like a valve body issue or solenoid. Can the OSS and TSS cause this. Continuing to drive will definitely harm transmission. The fluid is clean and smells normal. Hooked a snapon modus up there is no code my TPS seems fine. This looks like one of the very common problems could somebody please help me on what fixed their 2008 edge awd
