Looks good! Did you remove your grill before dipping it? and have you had any problems with it bubbling or chipping so far?

Found a seller on alibaba thats willing to send a sample. Wonder if these parts would fit though. Ive had bad luck with china aftermarket parts not lining up

Hi all, I have a 15' SEL in tuxedo black but would love to get the look of the sport grilles with the piano black inserts and metallic? trim. Mine is the regular chrome with the light grey inserts. Was wondering if anyone has attempted to make this conversion and which way would be best. Wrapped, painted or even plastidipped gloss black? Any suggestions? If anyone has done any of the following pics would be awesome too.

Did you completely remove the grill before painting it Dooley? If so how hard was it to take down?

I have an SEL and painted the grill, the side window trim (chrome), and the polished wheels with Flexidip. So far, after 3 months and driving in a lot of rain it is holding up well. It is easy to spot fix if it does get damaged. Using Flexidip really cuts down on masking as you can have overspray on the paint and it simply lifts off.

 

I am so anti chrome I even did the exhaust pipe tips and they have held up very well.

As promised I have finally completed installation of my new DDM Tuning HID conversion. What a huge difference it has made over the pathetic stock halogens. ZERO PROMBLEMS!! Ordered the complete kit from DDM Tuning who happens to be located in San Diego. They said to go with their new Ultra Canbus HID Kit. http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/UltraCanbusHID. I went with the 5500k bulbs and they work amazing. They do have a slight hue of blue and are very bright. They fire up immediately with no apparent warm up. More in line with the new lighting systems on BMW, Audi and Mercedes. The cost was very reasonable at $119.95. Had the shop next door do a custom install for $120. A lot of improvement for the money. And best of all LIFETIME WARRANTY ON BULBS AND BALLASTS!! Can't beat that.

Was wondering which shop in SD did you go for the install?

Was thinking of doing the same thing while saving some $$$ for some larger wheels. Would like to see how yours turn out
