  1. well i`ve been monitoring mine since new, at about 11k kilometers it was certainly seaping out, but the level never changed and we only smelt it twice, but today at about 27k kilometers i thought the damn car was on fire!!! we pulled up to an intersection after about a 3 mile hwy run into town and the smoke was rollin out the LF of the car, and there was a light wind that pushed it into the HVAc intake and it filled the car with smoke, i have my wife and two small children in the back, we rolled down all the windows, i was just seconds away from ditching the car, this actually happened right in front of the dealer... so i guess shes going in ASAP. :redcard:

  4. i just sent in for my restriceted weapons FAC up here in canada, hope to get little .22 pistol for some fun, and of course a rifle for hunting. have no idea what brands/models/ yet, should probly start dreaming soon...

  5. Well with my wife driving were at 10mpg, currently, the weather is cooler now and we are using our remote start, (which only runs 10 mins) we are over 8000kms now, will probly swap over to a full synthetic now... Its kinda crazy, i have a 98 GMC with a 454 and i can easily get 15mpg....WTF

But anyways, has ford come out with any new re-flashes? one that counteracts the the thirstyness?

  6. holly replaced rims 4 times! crap... my 20s are pitted like crazy, they are going to look like crap very soon... and the dealer will just replace them no prob!? were do you live!!! dealers around here will give you a million excusses before they even consider replacing anything!!!

I was very choked to see that these are plastic covered wheels, guess these will be my winter rims and i`ll get some REAL rims for summer...

  7. 8. They got rid of alot of colours but gained alot too, guess the vapour silver is now rare, cause its gone! The SPORT headlights and tailights i`d like to see, always wondered what smoked lights would look like! I think the body colour front and rear (and Below body) moldings will look very good to, as i see alot of people had done it themselves, really sharp!

    Thanks for the info!

Black is HOT!

  11. yeah this was my fisrt ford, im GM at heart but this isa good unit, went to windsor just cause my father in-law recomended a salesman that he purchases his company trucks from so it was kinda a "somebody you know" deal. did you save big with the family plan? i don`t think i got screwed but makes me wonder how much they made, i don`t loose sleep over it. so yeah were on our 4-5th tank and get 500-600ish ks out of it, roughly in the 20 mpg neighborhood. good enough for us, keep her on the road, later!

  12. WELCOME! hey, noticed your from beverlodge, i`m from GP were did you buy your edge? I WISH i could have got the tan interior, got ours from windsor, had to dealer swap from st. paul ab. we love it! geting 19-23mpg first three tanks, not bad to start, beter than the taurus we had!! enjoy it! maybe i`ll see yah driving around!!

  13. My company sent me to a driving safety/skid school yesterday. We used our own vehicles for various emergency braking/skid control and emergency avoidance exercises which were extremely beneficial. The day ended with everyone doing fast laps on the road race course

(Mosport, Ontario Canada) with the excuse being to teach smooth vehicle handling.

I have an 08 SEL and I flogged the living XXXX out of it on the track. We were on the smaller of the two tracks and I got it up to about 130 kph on the back straight which was plenty fast when you dive in to a hard right corner. The instructor took it out for a spin and was significantly quicker than I was but it was mainly due to being way smoother as opposed to a higher "top" speed.

Things I learned on the track

    1) the brakes suffered very noticeable fade after only a couple of laps. They never quit but they went very soft which slowed me down as I didn't want to put it off the track or in to a wall.

    2) The brakes REALLY stink when they get used very hard.

    3) Not surprisingly the Edge has a high center of gravity and shifts its weight fairly suddenly and significantly when thrown in to corners.

    4) If you want to see really bad gas mileage take your edge to the track and drive it hard. My mileage was about half again in my worst mileage to date. I will not complain about my normal highway mileage now !

It would have been interesting to compare an awd version with my fwd SEL both on the skid pad and on the track.

Fun day and someone else paid for it !

    :happy feet:

Cool sounds like it was fun!

  14. I participate in motorcycle roadraces about 20 mi. North of Lancaster, Ca. at Willow Springs Raceway. To get there I must go up and down the Cajon Pass I-15. I currently have an '04 Ford PSD F-250. I also have a motorcycle ramp that attaches into the reciever and carries the bike parallel to the tailgate.

In light of fuel prices and the fact that I don't really need a full sized pickup to haul a 385 lb. Ducati, a generator, fuel cans and a shade tent around, I have started thinking about a crossover. The Flex looks cool, but it seems too heavy and seems overkill since it is just my wife and our Sheltie and an Escape might not be big or powerful enough so I am seriously looking at the Edge

The trailer wouldbe about 5x12 enclosed and allow us to get to the track on Fri. afternoon of the race weekend and leave the trailer at the track to hold hold a space close to the track entrance and tech inspection for practice on Sat. and racing on Sunday while we spend the nights in the local motel.

Form what I have read, the Edge will have no problem going UP the Cajon and I think uphill towing would be OK since gravity and the trailer hitch would stabilize the trailer behind the EGDE.

So here's my problem. I have no problem leaning into a curve at 140mph with a pack of bikes around me, but the thought of driving down the grade of the Cajon Pass in the slow lane (mandated in Ca.) with a 40+ ton semi tailgating me and the semi in front of me putting on its breaks gives me night sweats. Especially considering the posts that claim the the Edge brakes aren't the strongest.

So any input you can give a towing novice about how an Edge handles downhill towing would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

can`t say i have towed anything yet with our edge, it has the tow package, BUT a great feature that it has is an O/D lock out, i have used it and by turning the overdrive off and applying the brake the trans downshifts, and according to how hard you depress the pedal it will downshift even further helping to slow the vehicle, it is an excelent working device and i could see it being very beneficial when pulling a trailer! I WISH my pickup acted in this maner when towing!
