  1. Ford Edge 2016 SEL - same problem, rear right passenger, near the roof handle. Has less than 6 months.

Creaks and rattles appearing all over the vehicle.

So much for the quality manufacture.

Maybe 50.000 USD is not enough for Ford to create a car that at least feels as a quality vehicle?

  2. I replaced it with one of these, it's a drop in:

    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_108R3022CX/Infinity-Reference-REF-3022cfx.html?tp=96

    Infinity Reference REF-3022cfx

It helps a lot create a better sound stage.

By the way, the stock speakers in Edge 2016 9 speaker system are ABYSMALLY BAD.

The magnets are so small, the speakers are so bad.

Use a plastic prying bar to move upwards the plastic dash covering the speaker.

It can be done without disarming everything, just remove the cover, take out old speaker and put new one in.

You will be VERY surprised when you see how bad are the stock speakers :)

Be careful when putting back the dash over the speaker, do not push it all the way down or it may cut the speakers suspension.

  3. If you change the radio you can see what you changed it to on the screen. HVAC is a little harder to figure out especially when you throw in auto mode vs temp manual override, etc.

Again I'm not saying it should be that way but they wouldn't have removed it without a reason.

There is another possible reason, they have a bug, somewhere in the system, which can be triggered by climate control via steering wheel.

Instead of fixing the bug, they hid the climate control.

  4. It's only a no brainer if you don't have to field complaints from customers and reviewers. I could see someone getting confused if they changed the fan setting from the steering wheel (maybe even accidentally) and thought it wasn't working right.

Should that be a problem for a reasonably intelligent person? No, but I've learned over the years that there aren't nearly as many reasonably intelligent people out there as you might think.

Personally I think the other commands being there are superfluous. Temp control is the only one I've ever used.

Yes, how in the world could I change radio station from my wheel and also from buttons or touch screen?

Just imagine, accidentally changing a radio station by clicking on a button.

I bet they are all so confused.

I agree with you, the only controls I use from the wheel are climate and phone calls and sometimes entertainment... hell I guess I use them all but the navigation. :-)

  5. You don't need to change the vents or the fan speed in auto mode. It will automatically select the top vents for A/C and the bottom vent for heat and it will adjust the fan speed automatically. You can change the fan speed by adjusting the temp up or down. I haven't needed to use the manual A/C controls at any time in the last 10+ years.

Try it. If you get in a hot car and the A/C is going full blast and you want to slow down the fans just raise the set temperature, then lower it later after the vehicle has cooled off. It works fine if you don't fight it.

You cannot select the lowest speed of fans when on auto.

You cannot select the air ducts to be used when on auto.

With steering wheel controls it's easy.

Up for hotter, down for colder, right, up for faster, down for slower fan.

    Done. Perfect.

And you can see the changed settings in front of you, no need to look for the button to press, screen to read results.

  6. Why aren't you using auto mode? Then you only have to adjust the temperature.

    That actually is not true.

On auto mode, you cannot select air ducts to be used.

On auto mode, you cannot select the slowest fan speed.

Even in auto mode, I have to look down and search for the button in order to change the temperature then look up and read the new temperature, all the while the car is moving down the road.

  7. Oh, that's awesome news.

At last I will be able to control climate without trying to make it understand my command, repeating YES etc. :)

How do you SAY "hotter, hotter, stop, colder, stop, fan, faster, stop?" :)

    3AkqRIX.png

Up or down to make it hotter or colder, right, up or down to make fan go faster or slower, never taking my eyes off the road, always seeing the changed settings in front of me.

Just like I could on my ford fusion

  8. I just saw Ford Fusion 2017 come with the climate control via steering wheel controls.

    81SnY2k.png

I'm looking at the OBDII scanners and www.forscan.org and thinking, could it be possible to enable the climate control?

Why would Edge 2016 not have it, is there a hardware missing or what?

I keep having to stare at my central dashboard trying to figure out what button to press, in order to control my climate. Several times I almost hit a car in front while fiddling with climate buttons and trying to figure out at what speed are fans working at.

For some reason, Ford made it really hard to find buttons without looking and gives almost no visual or haptic clues of what's going on while changing fan speed or temperature. It doesn't make it easier the fact that they put in the same horizontal orientation both fan speed and temperature buttons.

  9. I´ll take some photos tomorrow. For those saying there is no space or "what happens when you put the seat all the way down" I say:

    http://www.ebay.com/bhp/under-seat-subwoofer

Under seat subwoofers are really popular and seats in Edge can´t go lower than rails they sit on, which are pretty high. :)

I know Sony´s version is in the back, but... what in the world is this?

It can´t be amp, amp is part of the central console.

  10. You don't need to pull on the door handle to see if it's locked. Get out, close the door and touch the lock area on top of the door handle. You can hear it lock even if you don't see the red leds. I think it may flash the parking lights as well.

Sport mode doesn't just enable the paddles. It also holds gears longer and delays upshifts to keep rpm higher and I thought it did firmer and quicker upshifts.

My Ford EDGE 2016 3.5L is the first car I had that had SPORT mode that actually did make a difference.

I ride in sport mode all the time, I love it.

    It really transforms the car.

Paddle controls also work really fast, I have no complaints.

  11. As I posted a while back, the feature was removed specifically because of distraction. Customers complained that the vehicle as a whole was too confusing and so Ford decided to reduce the number of features to avoid confusion and thereby avoid distraction. It's not a bug, it was removed intentionally because customers were complaining.

As I mentioned before, I don't use the climate adjustments in the cluster because I find them too distracting, it's far easier and faster for me to just reach over and push the button on the rare occasions when I want to adjust it. Everyone has their preferences, but the majority has spoken and so the feature was removed. Unfortunately for you, you're in the minority.

    Really?!

Let's remove then both 4.2" screens, they are too distracting!!!!

I would like to see where you are getting your information from.

  12. Car Accident Caused By Driving Distraction

Driving distraction causes lack of concentration and attention for brief period. Distraction often occurs while playing with radio to search for a song or favorite station. Other causes of distraction while driving are eating or drinking while driving, talking to fellow passenger and talking on phone. Sometimes, driver is distracted by a spectacular scene and tries to watch the landscape or a panoramic view while driving, leading to accident.
