I wonder if Ford themselves make the wheel or outsource them? If they are made by someone else, anyone know who and I can possible trace it back that way

Can anyone tell me a correct color match paint for the charcoal colored  21" wheels on my 2017 Edge Sport. The local Ford dealer doesn't have a paint or paint code for them.

After I'm satisfied with all my performance/appearance mods, the shit Sony stereo system is next. I'm almost ready for this, but I want to do as much of the stereo install myself. I can handle replacing all the speakers, but I'm probably going to pay to have the amp and DSP installed so I know its all functioning properly. I've been out of the car stereo game too long to feel confident doing that myself.

The whole package including speakers, amps, labor etc was just around two grand. A lot to spend on a leased vehicle but worth it to me as a quality system is one of the most important parts of a car in my opinion.

As far as noticing a difference in sound from stock Sony to the Kenwood/Maestro install, it's like night and day. To my ears the system sounds fantastic now, best I ever had in any car I've owned. I also had the center channel dash speaker along with the front and rear door speakers(left in the stock tweeters) and sub woofer replaced as part of the upgrade. Also as a result of the install I lost the rear pillar speakers but honestly if I wasn't told, I wouldn't have known.

Before the stock system was way to muddy sounding and not nearly as crisp as I prefer. Now I get much more punch along with way more clarity especially at higher volumes, more ratta tat tat on snare drums rather than boom boom boom. The lower bass could be a little tighter and more powerful but I'm happy.

I lost all the eq adjustability from the head unit but everything can be adjusted on a Kenwood app on your phone which is kind of cool to play around with. There's either preset settings for rock, jazz, pop etc or you can flip a little switch on the amp and tweek every little setting using the pro setting. That gives you all kinds of different eq sine waves to set, all Greek to me but after experimenting with some I found a setting for me that's awesome

Going off topic here but what the hell I never got an answer anyway, actually, I called Ford and asked my question directly and was told there wasn't any way to increase the volume of the chimes. I guess it's a result of the upgrades that were done.

Is there a way to adjust the volume of the chimes from when you first enter the vehicle (2017 Edge Sport) along with the collision warning and front/back/side sensor chimes? Not that I want them loud but all of them in my Edge are barely audible.

I did have a shop upgrade my stereo with a new Kenwood Excelon amp and iDatalink Maestro unit several months ago and the chimes have been low volume since the install. If that's the cause and there's no adjustability then that's fine, but if it can be adjusted I'd like to know.

Also which speaker/speakers does the chimes come from?

Do you have ghe latest software update for both Sync and the phone?

 

Any possibility that another signal is interfering with the car? (You could try making a connection at a remote location to see if it's there's a problem around your home).

 

Possible that it's the location of your phone in relation to the car that's the problem. Try moving the phone around to see if that makes a difference.

I do have the latest update for both and I've also tried to connect with two different phones while we were driving in different areas with the same results. Trying to connect while up an running doesn't work but then upon restart of the car it'll connect maybe 70% of the time.

I haven't tried the master reset yet but I'll give it a shot next time I cant connect.

Lately I've been noticing that my phone wont connect to my 2017 Edge sport w/Sync3. The screen will read "connect to phone" and even if I try to connect manually, it wont connect. I've tried it with different phones with the same result. Sometimes as soon as I fire the car up she'll connect. other times, no luck.

Anyone have the same situation and resolution?

Last i knew, Car Play wasn't compatible with Waze

Ahh Haa! Bummer then.

I ran an update to my Sync3 in my garage last night connected to my home Wi-Fi but didn't see any difference.The new update was downloaded and after that was done and with Apple Carplay accessed through my iPhone, Waze didn't project to the the screen in my 17 Edge Sport.

Is the update available now or is it something coming soon?

That's what I'm talking about, I had my count wrong on the chimes though Now that I've had the stereo upgrade done those chimes are barely audible.

I don't know whether we're talking about the same chime ( or tones, bell sounds etc ) but I'm referring to the tones when you first start up and the touch screen fires up.

It's nine (three sets of three) tones used and like I said they're barely audible now after my recent stereo upgrade. If it's not adjustable then no big deal, I just like stuff to work like it's supposed to. I'm getting the rear door speakers replaced tomorrow to match the new front ones so I'll check with the installer then.

Recently I had the Sony system on my 17 Sport updated with new amps and speakers and now the audio chimes when you start the vehicle and when the tailgate closes etc. are barely audible. I searched around in settings and through the owners manual and can't find if the volume on them is adjustable.

Anybody know if it is?

I believe with City you can give it a City and State. If not I'm sure you can change the state at some point in the process.

After you ask for the POI there is a "change state" button on the lower right that you can push and proceed with the voice commands.

How do you ask Sync3 to navigate to a POI that's out of state, is that possible? The only options I see when I ask are "nearby" or "city"

Pretty sure I did. I'll do it again and make sue it's formatted that way and try again. Really a non issue at this point being that the new drive works fine, just more of a Hmmmmm?? thing.

Because it may not be the thumb drive - it may be the usb port as I alluded to above.

I understand that, but my iphone (Apple carplay) and the new thumb drive works fine in either port, so I can't imagine the port being the issue?

On a related note, the thumb drive I was using no longer works in the car. I took it out to add a couple new albums and when I put it back in the car it wasn't recognized. I brought it back into my office, formatted it and again copied my music file from my PC to the drive but still no good in the car. When I plug it into my PC it shows the complete file and plays all the music fine. I took another thumb drive and formatted/copied my file and that works fine in the car.

Why would the "bad" thumb drive work fine on the PC but not in the car/Sync3 system?

I have a USB related question about my 2017 Edge with Sync3.

Randomly when I restart the car after playing music from the thumb drive in one of the USB ports the system will pick up the music where it was when I turned the car off. Other times it will default to the last radio station I had playing.

Is there a setting for where the system defaults to upon start up?

thanks for the reply, and I may take you up on that center speaker. If so, what would you let it go for? From what I see online, a new pair retails for like $90 at the store, and for $60 on Amazon.

 

One more question, did you (or anyone else) happen to measure the exact depth of the stock subwoofer enclosure? I am trying to avoid having to disassemble mine just to measure it, only to take it apart once again for the actual installation. I looked into buying another one, just to use as a basis for designing a custom enclosure, but it cost around $200 and it comes with the stock speaker. That cheap plastic enclosure isn't really ideal for a subwoofer, especially for a much more powerful one, so I'm still considering making a custom box out of MDF instead. I will try the stock one first to see how it sounds I suppose. A custom box is going to be pretty complex in order to use the available space, but it can be done. If I do, I'll post the specs so others can simply copy it.

As far as measuring the subwoofer box, I did not check that. Actually taking off the rear side panel to access the box was a bit of a pain in the ass.One of the molded on pins that secure the panel to the body is held in with a one way metal clip so when you (or at least it happened to me) pull the panel out the metal clips get f'd up and are basically unusable upon reassembly. It was the second pin up from the bottom of the panel and even though I had to rip the metal clip out of the body the plastic panel still sits flush and is secure.

 

I think were going after the same thing based on what you said. I see that you already replaced the door speakers too, what did you go with there? Did you just pack the stock sub-woofer enclosure or did you get a better sub also? I figure with a decent amp and a nice punchy 8" sub, along with better speakers all around and I should be happy with it then. I just can't be putting a proper sub-woofer box in the back of my car at this point so I'm more or less stuck with the making the most of the stock configuration. It will be good to hear your feedback once you get your stuff installed...I'll keep an eye out for it.

I used Infinity REF-6522EX in the lower front doors and a Infinity REF-3022CFX in the center dash position.

As far as the sub, I didn't change that, just filled the stock box with Poly-fil but I really didn't notice much of a difference in the bass doing that. A little less boomy if anything
