  1. The exhaust is for sounds mainly and weight reduction. I want to do something like this.

I doubt it would do any performance. In the future, might make a custom catback, but not right now.

The intake is so colder air and to clean up the engine bay. The stock intake take too much room up. My old maxima had a setup like this. It pulled air from behind the bumper in the wheel well. Never had an issue with anything.

Here is the filter it had when I bought it, the blue one is the one I put on there. Bigger = better

There's one person I know of that has a pipe running down to the fog light for colder air. A screen is of course mandatory because of the far greater potential for debris interested in trashing your engine.

Nobody's had hiflow downpipes made yet, that would release some power also. Then you could create a true dual catback (like the 2011+ sport?) to complete the intake/exhaust upgrade. AWD probably would make that more difficult tho.

A tuner will get get you some more power/torque, but the main advantage I think will be in the change in availability, and in transmission shifting logic.

Do you have any links or pictures of this? It would definitely pull colder air down there, plus wrapping the pipe with some wrap, would help keep it colder.

  2. I am looking to awaking the demon in the 3.5

I been looking at the cheap CAI on ebay, but I am wondering if anyone has ever made their own intake that is a true CAI and runs down behind the bumper. I have been looking and can't find anything out there already or anyone that has made one. Any tips?

Next, I want to delete the rear mufflers. Seen this done already, but looks like I have to bend the pipes myself as I can't find any kit or pipes out there. Is this true? I doubt this will do anything other than shed some weight and make it a growl better.

Finally, I am wanting a turner. Looks like SCT is the way to go. I see every say to run premo fuel with it, Do they make a 87 tune for it? I really just want it to help with the transmission shifting.

Before all this, need to do a tune up on the car. Just checked one of the plugs, it looks bad. Does everyone run motorcraft plugs in their edge? I normally run NGK in my previous vehicles, but they were not fords. Is the motorcraft platinums good or should I get better

  3. There is a reason the korean cars will give a deal on their car compared to ford. The korean cars are not that great and they are cheaply made. They might look fancy, but if you put lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig.

My girl use to have a KIA before she got her Pilot, I will never own a KIA because of it. Everything about it just pissed me off, the looks, the interior, the ergo, the lack of power, the cheapness of everything.

  4. Have you looked at the Honda CRV?

I am not 100% it meets your list.

    http://cars.axlegeeks.com/compare/34905-49291/2005-Chevrolet-Equinox-AWD-vs-2016-Honda-CR-V

    a) Must be approx. same size (length, height, width) Chevy has inch more headroom, honda has .1" more leg room in front, chevy has 1.5" more headroom and 1.9" more legroom in back seats
    B) Must have same "power" (Chevy is a V6) Chevy V6 is 185hp/210ft-lbs, Cr-V is 185hp, 181ft-lbs.
    c) Must get same or better gas mileage Chevy is 23/17, honda is 31/25
    d) Must have heated steering wheel, no clue
    e) Must have smartphone integration and/or AA/Carplay, no clue
    d) Must have heated/cool front seats, only has heated front seats on the higher models.
    e) Must have heated rear seats don't see this.
    f) Must have AWD Honda has AWD
    g) Must NOT be a GM product. Burned by GM too much with this car

  5. I just bought a 2010 Ford Edge. My wife has a 2013 Honda Pilot. They are not the same vehicle at all. The pilot is a 8 passenger vehicle, the edge is only 5.

But of the ones I have are 3.5 V6. The edge is only FWD and the pilot has AWD.

The pilot doesn't really have the VCM issue. If you do get a pilot, you can always muzzle the VCM and this will get rid of the ECO mod and stop any vibration.

I am 6'4" and bigger guy. The pilot is nice, but the edge has more leg room for me in both the driver and passenger seat. The edge is a lot faster.

It should come down to, do you want a car that seats 5 people or 8 people.

  6. a drain and fill is fine if you do it more often. I have always done the drain n fill in all my smaller vehicles, ie FWD.

I never liked the flush machines as some do put extra pressure on the system. And if you haven't changed the fluid in a while, this can cause some dirt/contaminants to come loose and that isn't good.

  7. Luggage space. umm the truck will have way more luggage space than any SUV. Put a cover on the bed and done.

Cavernous Interior, again, truck wins here too.

Having owned a 2002 F250, 2013 Honda Pilot and a 2010 Ford Edge, the F250 interior had way more room in it. I had a hard bed cover and this gave me massive storage. We drove it from Ohio to Florida and was able to pretty much take what ever we wanted. Enough clothes for 3 people (2 adults and a kid) for 10 days, cooler, 12x12 pop up canopy, beach stuff, etc. We also had a car seat in the truck that was big. Same car seat barely fit in the pilot and a Toyota Venza.

Being a taller guy, the truck offers way more head room and leg room for me than any other SUV I have been in (expect a true full size SUV aka excursion or suburban)
