Bought a 2013 Edge last week and decided I was going to remove the front license and black plastic plate holder. I looked and looked for a way to remove the plate holder but can't find a way to get to it. Any ideas?

I know this is a old thread but I just noticed on my center console which is silver is also coming off and it's black underneath.
-
I have the Continenals. Can't recall what brand are on my wife's Equinox AWD but it will go anywhere. Even better than my 4x4 GMC truck that I traded off for my Edge.

Just curious: What do mean exactly by "driving in snow"?
Driving in snow could also be called driving with snow on the highways.
No front wheel drive vehicle is meant for ATV style driving.
I did not buy it to be used as a ATV.
-
I have a Edge front wheel drive only and its really pitiful in snow. I know the factory tires are mostly to blame but this is the WORST front wheel drive vehicle I've tried to drive had in the snow. I wish now I had gotten the AWD.

I have the painted aluminum rims.

I've been hearing what sounds like a front axle popping when I first take off . Sounds like it is coming from the front passenger side.
Anyone else heard or had this problem? Mind is front wheel drive only.

I'm glad they were able to. All I know that some you can, some you can't. I don't know why or which ones work and don't work though. Do you have the auto lights? I wonder if that is the difference.
Yep.They work in the auto light selection only.

Ky Bob, your service manager is correct. Some can be turned on, I know I can do it on mine which is an SEL. We tried to do it on a customers car on time and it was not an option. I think his was an SE but I don't remember. If you have an SE I would not get my hopes up, however it is deffently worth a try.
I went by my dealer today and they were able to enable the daytime running lights. :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet:

Thanks, bbf. The service manager did call me back and said it may be possible with some module's but not all. I'll make another trip later to see if mind will work. Thanks, Ky Bob

You may have confused driving or fog lights with DRLs (daytime running lights). DRLs can be activated by the dealer through the module options with the dealer tool. Adding fog lights is a totally different issue.
Nope I am talking about daytime running lights. My dealer does not know of a way to enable them.

Hi Ky Bob. :D Did you know that you can have your Dealer enable the DRL's (Daytime Running Lights) on your vehicle? If you really want DRL's, it is done with a simple reprogramming of the SJB (Smart Junction Box).
If your Dealers Service Department is one of the lazy/incompetent ones that states they do not know how (or it can't be done), go to another Ford or Lincoln-Mercury Dealership. It is already an established fact that the reprogram can be easily accomplished by the Dealership.
Good luck. :beerchug:
bbf2530. Can you give me the dealer name and phone number that programed your driving lights? I went to my dealer today and they said they did not know of a way to have driving lights on an SE but would call your dealer and get the scoop on how to do it.

I work at a Ford Dealer and also have an SE Edge. The wiring harness does not have existing wiring for foglamps and does not have a plug-in harness or junction. What will have to happen is the switch will have to be changed, a relay purchased through parts, as well as the fog lamp plugs. Also, the bezels will be needed. My master technician say it is not that big of a deal, just time and a little money.
Even the 2009 does not offer a foglamp option for SE Edge. Whomever designed the wiring must be a union man. And stupid. One harness could have been designed, with plug in for foglamps. But that would have made too much sense.
Not having Daytime driving lights on the SE is also stupid. Its more of a safety issue to me than looks.
Bruce. Has your dealer ever installed OEM fog lights for customers??
And yes. I am from Kentucky someone asked..... :hyper:

2008 Limited AWD with vista roof. 17K on the odometer. $21,000 :yup:
I drive a hard bargain... err I mean Edge.
Dang you got a good deal!!! I found a limited AWD with the Vista roof and 19,000 miles and they want $25,900. I have a 2008 SE and looking to upgrade mainly for the AWD. I have 8,000 miles on mind and they asked $9,950 trade plus tax.

$300
I called my dealer and they quoted $500!!! Would an aftermarket remote starter void the warranty? The guy I spoke with told me that it would not but I tend not to trust car salesman..... :yup: :yup:

I kept having a bad smoke smell in my car after driving past a burning grass fire. I popped the cabin filter out (it was very dirty), washed it out (looks to be made out of fiberglass like an A/C filter), let it dry, sprayed it with some lysol, and put it back in. Smell be gone.
They checked my cabin filter at my dealer. Their parts manager has the same problem with the smell as well and he also has found no cure.
-
Had the dealer install remote starter when I bought the car. Works fine with no problems so far. On my last
car I had problems from a suppossed bad install. Usually you get what you pay for.
May I ask what the cost was??

Power Takeoff Unit - sends power to the rear wheels. It has a seal which can leak.
Mind is not AWD.
-
It sounds like another PTU seal problem. Mine seemed to smell worse when the heat was on.
What is PTU???

Has anyone had the original OEM remote start or another aftermarket installation? I'm trying to get an idea on the cost and making sure that if I go with aftermarket instead of OEM that it might void my warranty. Only have 8,000 on my 2008.

I have a 2008 also but not the AWD and it does the exact same thing. When you pull out to pass someone you need to punch it in advance!!
