  1. Edge Exceeds Expectations – Record sales of the all-new Ford Edge are driving the company’s growth in crossover utility vehicles (CUVs). Edge turned in its best monthly performance yet in May, delivering 12,701 sales – up 39 percent over April levels. It outsold all mid-size CUVs – including the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander and Nissan Murano. Consumer demand for the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX has exceeded the company’s original expectations. Ford now expects Edge sales to reach 120,000 units in 2007 – 20 percent higher than the original forecast. More from Ford.

That's great news!! too bad ford oakville will be reduced down to a two shift operation, and MORE people will be layed off as a result!! bye bye quality!!

  2. I work at the oakville assembly complex and to answer the question about the retro fits, the retrofit is for the rear axle.apparently they were out of spec so ford is replacing the whole rear axles and shipping the defective ones back to the supplier. The axle swap takes approx 45mins to complete.I believe the units are then sent back inside to be quality inspected again and any other issues are then resolved.they are then shipped out.finding a specific unit would be hard as there are numerous holding areas were the unit could be before it is shipped.THERE ARE NO BAMMER ISSUES.

  3. Redfire Edge checking back in to see how you guys are doing...

I'm sorry to hear that you guys are still without your Edges! It's pretty incredible.

I don't care how good the vehicle quality ends up being when the Edge finally is released. The Negative Word of Mouth generated so far by this launch is not good! :banghead: Unfortunately, this has put dealers in an akward position. So, even more discontent has been bred. It's going to take a major spin doctor to fix this one.

I do Customer Satisfaction & Loyalty research for a living. This one will be one for the story books for sure. :stop: BTW iforku - Customer-centric companies (e.g. SUCCESSFUL companies) are usually pretty thankful for "whiners" like us. Having ran the Office of the President (Complaint Resolution) group for a global company, I know full well that knowing what pleases customers and what P****S them off helps companies not only stay ahead of the competition but stay in business.

A lot of this could have been mitigated by open dialogue with Edge's early adopters (pre-order customers). Keep us up to date. Don't give us excuses. We'll respect you more for being honest and we'll stay customers.

I am even more persuaded that my decision to put a little "Zoom Zoom" in my life was a wise choice. :yup:

  4. Any of the Oakville people at liberty to discuss this?

Off the record of course. Wink Wink Nudge Nudge.

    :yup:

Im probably not at liberty, but not built station is the fact that they(ford management) has cut the manpower at our plant. So as a result the jobs on line are overloaded and undermanned. Two weeks ago they recalled 80 people to work only to lay them off again a week and a half later!MERRY CHRISTMAS. Most times when we have a launch we go in heavy on the manpower then reduce but this time they are doing the reverse.I do know they are taking their time with it and making sure nothing leaves the plant with any quality issues. They have a gruop of people outside triple checking for any quality issues. They also suspended the freestar build until the new year so they could focus on the lincoln and edge.So sit tight and hopefully you'll get yours soon (assuming you have ordered one) and it will be top notch quality!
