I have a 2008 ford edge. I installed an OEM nav unit but cant get the SYNC to work. The ford dealer says that i need a new Sync board that comes at a cost of $1500. there has to be a way to get the sync unit already installed to talk to the new Nav system?

they claim the programming was all done and updated but still not working. Anyone have any similar issues? please help

I had an OEM Ford factory unit installed on my 2008 ford edge and everything works but the SYNC. The mechanic insists that the SYNC is not commnuicating with the new unit and i heard it might need a switch of some sort to correct the issue but no one has been able to assist.

Was wondering if anyone had any resolution for any similar circumstances? Would appreciate any help as SYNC troubleshooters advised theyve seen it done before but the only known solution they have is to replace the SYNC board which is over $1500 and not worth it

i cant confirm this but i am in the process of having the SYNC fixed on my OEM installed NAV unit in my 208 ford edge. I was informed by ford (confirmed by SYNC) that a part is needed to activate the sync and its not just a programming issue. My appointment is next week so i wont find out if it works until then. The part is a cheap switch that needs to be hooked up to the device that relays the communication from the SYNC to the unit. I will post more information if it works over the next week or so.

thanks im sure this will come in handy. i ended up buying one but and just working on gettng the darn sync to work as it didnt work immediately

Anyone know where I can get a factory Navi for the 2008 Edge and how much would it cost installed????

I purchased mines online (ebay) and it works just fine. they usually go for anywhere between 650-900

I just had the dealer install the Navigation system in my 08 Edge. The Sync still works but one thing has me bringing it back to them to look at again. The sound system does not sound NEARLY as good as it used to. I went over to the subwoofer that is in the back of the vehicle and it does not sound like it is working and all the audio sounds pretty flat.

 

The part that they installed according to the system info screen is 8E5T-18K931-CA. I cant find anything on that part. I am wondering if that is the navigation with the Audiophile sound system. My previous radio had that and it sounded great. Does any one have access to info on that part above.

 

I looked at the most recent parts list for FACTORY parts were 8T4T-18K931-BA for Nav w/o Audiophile and 8T4T-18K931-AG for Nav with Audiophile.

Can any of you guys recommend where i can find the parts list for the 08 models. Ive been looking to get a navigation system online but am a little confisued with all the model numbers i am getting.

even if you have a few recommended model numbers you can swing my way.

pretty new to this forum but was looking to purchase a factory navigation system for my 2008 ford edge LTD. ive came across a few different model numbers but cant seem to pinpoint which one works best. Im lookin for one that works with the camera, SYNC, ipod and the audiophile stereo system. IF any of you have any suggetsions as to what model numbers would work with this, please let me know. ive been calling dealers and ford but no one has been helpful enough.
