    Two thoughts.

My Edge I like the firmer ride and go with this set up. Motorcraft strut bearing mounts, KYB struts and shocks all around. I tend to be a slightly more aggressive driver than my wife.

Wife's Edge will be Motorcraft shocks and struts all around with motorcraft strut bearing mounts. She likes the smoother ride.

Do not go after market with Strut bearing mounts. I have tried many and ended up finding the Motorcraft strut bearing mounts are much more durable.

How do I know if i need to replace the strut mounts when I do my strut job. (2014 edge SEL) Is it a good idea to just replace the mounts so I know they are new? If I could find an OEM motorcraft quick strut, I would just do that

I just used a cheap spring compressor kit from AA to do upper strut mounts on my 2011 SEL and was surprised how quick and easy it was.  The 11-14 Edge's have pretty stiff suspensions to begin with so I wouldn't mind finding shocks and struts that soften things up a bit.

Yeah, I have done the whole spring compression on an old '88 pontiac 6000 when i was in collage. It's not horrible and I can do it, i just wanted to get it done fast. I figured that if i get a quick strut, everything is new. If I could find a motorcraft quick strut for my car, I would probably just do that. My main concern is that I don't want to go stiffer than OEM when all is said and done. That being said, maybe my best bet is to get morotcraft strut and a spring compressor.

I am wondering if I decide to just replace the strut and use all the other parts, is it a good idea to replace anything else? the upper mount, dust covers, bumpers ect. I wish I knew more. lol

  3. Hi, I have a 2014 Edge SEL and it needs new shocks and struts. I was on RA and settled on KYB strut plus (with the springs). I'm wondering if I put Motorcraft shocks in the back, will it feel weird, or do you think it will be ok? I read that the KYB's are a little more stiff than OEM. I also read someone having a concern that getting the pre assembled kits for the struts could change the height from OEM. Any thoughts on that? I dont need the new springs, but I am just trying to get the job done fast and not mess with the spring compressors

    TIA
