  1. I can't say about campers or travel trailers but my Edge has pulled my 3000# bass boat from Kentucky through the Finger Lake region of New York and has done a great job so far. I've logged about 1300mi on this trip so far and the average mileage when pulling has averaged a consistent 16mpg. The previous tow vehicle was an 05 F150 with a 5.4 and trailer towing package. What a difference in gas mileage while pulling.

My boat trailer does have surge brakes which makes quite a difference in stopping ability and I have the factory trailer towing package installed on the Edge.

So far, I couldn't be happier

  2. Continentals on my Edge SEL Plus.....18".

Would have loved to have the Michelans. I had Continentals on my 2004 Mazda Tribute and had to replace them 16k miles in. I was not happy.

That was my thought too, then I went to tirerack.com and read the reviews on the Continentals. Looks like the reviews say they are very good tires

  3. AS I posted elsewhere, I went on a 700 mile trip this weekend in my SEL AWD. I got 24.9 in interstate/rural driving on eway and 21.9 the other since we were sitting in traffic for nearly an hour. Just to compare. My 05 Freestyle rarely got 17 mpg (mostly around 15 city) and the best I got on the highway was 23.

For reference, my wife's Toyota Camry (I tried to tell her) with the 4-banger gets around 26 highway and 19 in town. I'm doing better with the Edge (well, almost). My son's Acura TSX with the fancy Honda engine gets a little less than that. Ford has a winner with the 3.5. It's smooth, powerful, and gets decent gas mileage. unless you want a hybrid or an underpowered car, this is the best I've seen. BTW, gas priced soared this weekend. On the trip down, regular was 2.89 and onthe trip back it was $3.25! This was in WV, VA, NCand SC. Just makes you sick!

My wife's 06 Camry LE 4cyl automatic routinely gets 30 to 32 mpg running 75 with air and 22mpg around town.

That being said, I'm extremely pleased with my Edge SEL+ FWD.

  4. So, I am new to FWD cars for the last 6 years. Been driving Exploders and F150s. I noticed my Edge kinda likes to go to the right and I have to slighly hold my wheel to the left. A little annoying for a new car. I didnt know if it was the shape of the roads or what. I took it in to get my rear moonroof plastic fixed also since it kept falling off also. They said that there is a TSB for the alignment issue and they had to order a bunch of parts that were unfortunately on backorder. They are going to call me when they come in. Has anybody experienced this or know what the hek they are going to replace? There was a list of 5-10 parts. Hope it fixes it.

I had the problem with mine. The dealer first did an alignment only and that did not correct the problem. They reset the strut plates and that corrected the problem, it drives straight and true.

My understanding from the dealer is they try the alignment first and resetting the strut plates is the true fix.

    I'm satisfied with the fix

  5. I have a 17 foot 99 Nitro Tracker. I was wandering if the Edge could handle it in tow. That was honestly the only thing keeping me from making the purchase! So, you think i'll be fine? I assume you got the class II towing package. Is there anything else i need to get?

    Thanks.

Yes, I have the 3500# towing package. I'm going to tow the boat to upstate NY in a couple of weeks, That will be about 1300mi round trip. From the experience I had pulling the boat to the lake here, I don't think it will be a problem.

  6. Has anyone figured out how to remove the bezel around the radio ? It looks like it would just pop off, but I don't want to damage it. I want to mount a radar detector on top of the dash and run the wiring beneath the dash.

Put your finger tips on both hands under the silver trim at the bottom as much as you can. Pull straight outward. The whole center piece releases and lifts up and off at the top.

Hope this helps, it worked for me.

  7. Congrats on the new Edge! :hyper: How do you like your stone leather interior?

That's the interior color we ordered, but just found out it won't get to the port till this weekend. Guess we'll have to wait 1 more week.

I like the color. Not grey and not tan, more of a darker creme. I'm using black all weather mats through out.

    Works well for me

  8. I've had my Edge SEL+ FWD for 10 days now. It is equipped with 18"wheels and trailer towing package.

After I picked the vehicle up from the dealer I drove 30 mi. and then topped the tank off to accurately

measure the fuel economy. After ten days of driving and 200mi. this is my result.

All of the driving was in town with several short interstate trips of 10 miles or less.

The trip computer at the time of fill up was registering 19.0mpg. Total fuel used was 11.5 gals. total cost of $26.50, 201 miles traveled for a 17.5mpg average actual calculated. My previous vehicle was an 05 F150 5.4l 2wd. Driving it in a similar fashion my average mpg was 13.5.

I also checked the accuracy of the speedometer with my Garmin 2610 GPS. I found the speedo to be spot on up to 65mph. At 70 and 80mph the speedo was 1mph fast.

Overall, I am very pleased. I'm also recording my findings with www. fueleconomy.gov

  10. I purchased my Edge SEL+ from a local dealer from their on hand inventory on Thursday March 8, 2007.

It is a Pewter metallic FWD with the trailer towing package, 18" wheels, reverse sensors and Sirius radio.

After 10 days of driving I have been very impressed with the overall quality of the vehicle. It has the light stone leather interior and the dash reflection is by no means a distraction. The previous vehicle an 05 F150 with camel interior was actually worse. The mpg that the vehicle achevied in the first week of driving

(200mi) was acceptable 17.5mpg in mostly city with short interstate driving mixed in. I will do a separate post with more detail on the mpg.

    Overall, I couldn't be happier.
