I don't think a magnet will attract to plastic or aluminum.
Then the chrome cap must be some other metal, as a magnet will stick the wheels on the MKX
-
I washed the MKX today.
We paid $896. for plastic hub caps You have got to be kidding me!!!
I've been wondering what 20" CHROME-CLAD ALUM WHEELS meant, now I know.
For some dumb reason I thought it meant some kind new high tech coating.
Oh well live and learn.

TO make you feel better, the MKX has a metal clad alum wheel....the Edge has plastic! I have the MKX...to convince yourself, just try a magnet on the wheel!

I purchased a new edge limited on april 9th of 2008 and have had it in the shop 4 seperate times trying to have a valve type rattle solved with no success. The car has been in the shop for 22 days and even with the ford regional reps involved their is nothing but parts changing going on. I was told it was a noise which was inherent in the engine due to a lean fuel burn, however, my vehicle is excessively loud to the point of extreme. I have driven 5 others and have not had this same problem.
Any suggestions?

Talk to your Service Manager about Lemon Lawing the car and replacing it with another. My brother went through it with a 2005 Mustang....it was a pain, but Ford gave him the credit back on the car, and he replaced it with a 2007 Gt Vert.
Good luck!

We just bought a new 2008 Edge and love it, with one exception. The noisy Fuel Pump, we hear a constant high pitched whistle/noise nearly every time we drive it. You can hear inside and outside the car, even over the radio and at freeway speeds.
I've taken it in to the dealer a few times and they've said that all the Edge's sound like this and therefore can't help...is this true?
What can I do, the dealer says they won't fix it?
I would ask to drive another Edge to compare it to. I am sure it is not normal, so have the service manager ride with you to prove that it is not all Edges. If you have difficulties with this dealership, try going to another dealer. I have the MKX, and it is as quiet as can be.

sure enough... this will NOT happen. I washed the car today and had doors open for 30 minutes.. never went off. not until I did the lock doors trick while doors still open I said above did they shut off and still have doors and boot open.
Was the key off? I have had mine go out automatically when I have it in the garage and detailing it with the doors open for awhile

I have the camel interior on my MKX and the only time I really notice the reflection is when I am pulling into my garage. Otherwise it is not really any worse than most cars with light interior colors.
As for a dashmat or dashtopper, I saw an edge the other day with one that was really beautiful....it looked like suede. I asked the guy where he got it, and I found the website. If you feel dashmats are ugly, check these out..they are really classy, and if you get a darker shade, will reduce the glare so that you can enjoy your edge better.

just buy like 5 of those cheezy ones above, lay them end-2-end and there is your faux BAMR
I hate to think what the next lame accessory will be!! How about a fake overlay for the stereo, so that everyone will think you got the NAV system?
-
holly that has to be a joke, no?
yep.. right out of the gate you got me beat. didn't think it would be possible..
That is unbelievably lame
I wonder if they will come out with a stick-on BAMR for us guys who couldn't afford the real one!!!

Ok, I went to the DRIVE-IN last night to go see Speedracer with the kids. I back the car in and open the tailgate and to my surprise, the interior and sideview mirrors lighsts would not go out, I placed the key in ACC and in KOEO mode and still the interior lights and the sideview mirrors would not go off. I had to remove two fuses from the fuse box just to kill the lights. #9 and #10. Has anyone had this problem or am I doing something wrong?
They will go out automatically after 10 minutes.

I think this one will beat it.....how about a fake, stick on sunroof!!!

Sorry to hear of all your problems. Sounds like your dealer is not sure what the problem is. I have had my MKX over a year, and 9500 miles. Has not gone back to the dealer with any problems...not even a squeak to complain about.
Hope they figure your problem out! Good luck!

Sorry if this has been discussed before...I'm considering an 08 Edge Limited but I just came across an issue while looking at the various options and pricing one online. Is it true that you CANNOT have both the DVD Navigation and the Rear Entertainment packages together? That is potentially a deal killer for me.
Thanks for any feedback
I just went on the Ford website to check this out. When you order the DVD Nav system, you must also order the BAMR. So you cannot order the overhead Entertainment system. But, you can get the dealer installed Entertainment headrest system, which is actually much better. Hope this helps.

One really nice solution is from dashtopper.com They make a dashboard cover in a beautiful suede like material. Another thought is try the Lincoln MKX....we bought the Lincoln with the light interior and there is no reflection on the dash.

I picked up my MKX yesterday...so far so good. I went with the black on black, elite, ultimate & cargo management. Quick question - I noticed that the handle on the liftgate has a lot of movement - anyone else experience this?
I still can't get over how quiet and comfortable this car is...
Must be loose, mine has no movement. And yes, it sure is a smooth quiet car!! Enjoy!

hi,
i get a noise also on my mkx, sounds like the sound a wiper blades makes when its wiping, squeaky type of sound. also wondering if nayone noticed their headlight fogging up really bad when it rains.
Hi,
I notice a little whinning noise around 40mph in my MKX. On the good front, I am averaging 19.1 in the city and 27.3 on the highway

Just a suggestion, but we have th MKX with the power hatch, it saves her a lot of stretching. I wonder if your Ford dealer could retro fit the Lincoln unit into your edge. Same car, so it should be possible.
-
Does look like an older wagon. I wonder if Ford will slap wood paneling on the sides and call it the Flex Squire!
-
I don't like the red stripe across the back at all though... or the tail lights. So I would probably end up changing the gate back to an Edge. The tails are a different shape so I don't know what I could do about those.
My best bet is probably to get the edge, put an aftermarket grille on it, and customize the interior.
I probably will wait til summer.
We got the MKX and I LOVE the back....especially at night as the entire width lights up. Makes it easy for other drivers to see. As for interiors, the MKX is all soft touch vs hard plastic. Leather and carpeting is also much higher quality. I priced out the SEL+ vs the MKX and felt the extra cash was well spent. Plus you get an extra year bumper to bumper warranty and a year of free maintanence.
-
Could someone post a pic of this. I've seen it and I wouldn't pay any amount for it. What can you put there, maybe a wallet and some pens?
Here you go....hope it helps. This came on our MKX, I didn't even know what the option was till I looked at one without it. It sure comes in handy for keeping small items.

This is a freakin JOKE!
I have a little over 1500 miles and my mpg SUCK.
I am recording them at www.fueleconomy.gov and my results are as follows. I didnt find the website for my 1st and maybe second tank, but My first tank was 12.4mpg!
then it went like this: 12.3, 13.4, 17, and 15.3. the last 2 were MOSTLY highway. at least 80/20 highway. So be VERY happy that you guys are getting UNREAL numbers, because mine are horrible!
I love the car but would give it back ASAP if I could. :beatdeadhorse:
How are you figuring out your mileage? Are you dividing the gallons used into the miles traveled or using the onboard computer? I am averaging just under 20 in city with a FWD MKX and mid 20's on the highway.
-
We got the MKX in Light Sage. Looks like a metallic Dove gray...really elegant color.
-
I just hit 2,000 miles on my FWD MKX. It is averaging about 19 in the city. If I travel at 55-65 on the highway, I have seen as much as 30, but usually average 27. Really not bad on gas at all. Don't forget that the car magazines get thier average milage which includes track testing. Since you are not running 0-60 and 1/4 times, you should do much better.
Painting my dash....over the GLARE!!!

Have you considered purchasing a dash topper? I saw one in a 500 and asked where they got it because it was so nice. Looked like suede, and a very high quality and fit. I checked out their website....see if this might be a better solution for you. The site is:

Check out the suede versions.....really nice!
