You should reset the computer average at each fillup (use trip 2 and keep trip 1 cumulative).

If you are answering my post, I have always reset the computer at each fill up. I am getting the total average from Fuelly.

My average on the computer is no 22.2 MPG, I am almost exclusively highway driving, in the 70-75 mph range. Fuelly confirms a slightly higher per trip MPG, but I guess that makes sense for the average on the computer to slowly be increasing. Fuelly did calculate about 32 MPG the other day when I drove almost a full tank at 60 MPH either flat or down hill... Pretty exciting.

3700 miles driven and I have averaged 22.5 mpg with a best of 23.9. I just recently dropped in an aFe dry air filter and my computer is showing higher mpg, though we shall see at the next fill up. This is all on a mix of city/highway driving. Got a trip coming up soon and will see what we do with straight hwy on several tanks. The computer is still optimistic and I am notating both readings and plan to average out and then do the change as has been indicated on the AFE portion of the computer. I use Fuelly, but would like to know that what shows on the car is correct, more than it is now. I can not imagine actually getting 32mpg nor going 60 mph, so doubt I will ever see that!

  3. I just read your other post on resetting it and asked if it now works for you, as your last statement suggested not even worth doing. I appreciate your help. Like getting something positive out of this mpg post!

My F150 was similarly optimistic initially, showing 21.3 but manually calculated 19.7 (e.g.). However - the last tank I checked was the opposite - manual was actually higher than the computer. So I need to do some more testing. Might have been operator error.

Either way not sure it's worth changing for such a small difference.

So have you got it worked out now for the Edge ST? Thanks,

Mine was off about the same amount, but after reading an earlier post from  omar302  on 4/19   I reset my AFE to 920 and now the ST agrees very close to Fuelly on each refuel.

Mine also has been averaging about 20 mpg on regular fuel 19.2 to 20.5  and I am currently at 3,246 miles.   I did try premium on two tanks early on but did not notice any difference.

Help me here, what is AFE?  How do u reset it? My car is optimistic on mpg. I also use Fuelly. Would like to get the car closer. Thanks

Mine looks like this now! And with the added security of the compressor and goo. Not cheap, had to order a new rim and tire, but have piece of mind now!

  7. I am also using Fuelly since I got my ST and now have about 2800 miles and averaging 22.3mpg in combination city/hwy driving. Best mpg was 23.9. This has all been on regular gas. My last daily driver was a Fusion Hybrid that averaged 47mpg over 40K miles, so I am still in withdrawal pains from doubling my time at the gas pumps! I guess I must be a lot easier on the gas pedal than most. Its a peppy SUV and we are enjoying it. Looking forward to a road trip to see how she does.

  8. I have ordered a wheel from my dealer, will have it in about a week. Next hurdle was getting the actual tire. Seems only place to get one is online from Maxxis direct. I am waiting for a couple of places to get back with me to see if they can find one, but will probably buy online. Not a cheap way to go, but had no luck at all with anywhere on the internet or with local junkyards. Just an update, looking forward to having one in the back and putting this all behind me, so to speak! Thanks for all the input and for this forum.

It’s not the size of the wheel it’s the size of the tire.  You can have the same size (circumference/diameter) tire with a 18, 19, 20, 21 or 22 inch wheel.

Well its not the same size, 29" diameter vs. 26.5 for the donut, but apparently is close enough and passes Ford standards to work.

  10. I feel I got the answer thru here and then seeing the temporary spare in the Edge Sport. The Edge ST has a more developed AWD system that is made to disconnect from AWD to FWD that the Sport did not have. So moving forward at a slow pace, hoping to hear from Ford Performance within this week. For some reason putting a Summer Performance tire on changes the way Ford deals with it. Hoping to find out why from them.

  11. Ok, just to let all know, I checked a 16 Edge Sport w/21" wheels and measured my 21" wheel and tire and one on the Sport. Both are approximately 29" tall. The Sport had an 18" spare with the temp tire size stated above, T155/70R18. I measured and found its 26 1/2" tall. Like has been said above, if Ford is putting it in as a spare, it must be fine to use. Thanks again.

  12. Hello, I have a Ruby red ST with the 401A and brake package. Other cars are a 15 Corvette Stingray, 70 resto mod split bumper Camaro that's for sale, a 10 Ranger Ext. cab 4x4 Sport w/4.0, and a street legal golf cart. Wondering the age of Edge ST owners. I am 67 going on about 23...well in mind, my body is going on about 82 or so!

  13. I was wondering if being in Canada had anything to do with it. Still bothers me to drive any distance with the spare being a smaller size. If I get somewhere and have a flat that can't be repaired, will be hard to find a 21" PZero to replace it with. Going to the driving school in Utah and will be on an definite arrival time, so sitting somewhere waiting on a tire won't work! I do have an email into the Ford Performance group that are going to address the issue. This site has been very helpful, thanks members.

Did yours come with the air compressor and tire repair goo also? Wondering why some came with this spare and some without. Do you have the summer performance tires or the all weather tires? Mine has the Pirelli PZeros.

  15. Thanks, this is still scary to me to use a temp spare, as this is the warning in the manual, though I guess if you read it that they provided the spare in the size listed above, you are fine? Here is what it says - Do not use a spare tire of a different size other than the tire provided. If the mini-spare tire is installed, the AWD system may disable automatically and enter front-wheel drive only mode to protect driveline components. A warning in the information display appears, indicating that the system is in front-wheel drive only mode.See  Information Messages.  If there is a warning message in the information display from using the spare tire, this indicator should turn off after reinstalling the repaired or replaced normal road tire and cycling the ignition off and on. We recommend that you reinstall the repaired or replaced road tire as soon as possible. Major dissimilar tire sizes between the front and rear axles could cause the AWD system to stop functioning and default to front-wheel drive or damage the AWD system.
