  1. HA, your lucky....

I found out the oil on my driveway, wasn't coming from any vechile 'I' owned. I keep seeing the puddle getting bigger, and Bigger, and BIGGER every day. And it wasn't even in the spot where I parked my vehicle. Then one day, I touched it and it was HOT. I went into the house, called out to the wife "WILMAAAAAAAAA!!!!!"

She replies, "Yes, Fred?" oh,, uh,, sorry,, ahh forget it..... we don't have any milkmen, where I live anymore.. wonder if it is the rural route mailman, or Schwann's man.. Hey, i'm getting fed and better leave it at that......

... you mean I should worry about the strange boots under my bed? OIL! Geeezz....

  2. BlueDart,

I've got the vista and close it on the freeway because I hear buffeting from the nylon skirt for wind deflection.

Do you have a different version of wind deflector?

Sometimes I think its like the Mustang Convertible I had. It's fun in the begining and a hassel later in its life.

I Surf and I'm thinking taking up Standing Paddle Boarding. I'd like to see how a rack integrates with the vista.

If you do it please post some pic's.

  3. There is a TSB covering this issue with the AWD case. The design of the case was changed to help avoid overfilling (dropped the height of the filll plug.) I doubt very seriously that there will be any kind of Ford recall, notification program, etc. concerning this issue. The unit is filled for life. Once it has "overflowed", the fluid is at the correct level. Rinse and wipe off any oil that came out and the vehicle is good to go.

I think the service writer failed to read the TSB or they would have come to the same conclusion. I also doubt the overflow valve was defective, sounds like it did what it was supposed to do. The Tech may have replaced it just to get paid for his/her time cleaning up the "overflow" oil. If Ford requires return of the "Defective" part, and they find it not to be "defective", the dealership will not be paid on that warranty ticket. If the part is not on the return list, then Ford pays for another unjustified repair.

This is another thread that starts out with all the drama generated by a corner lube guy, etc. and progresses to a service advisor suggesting there will be a massive recall. I point this out, not to suggest anyone on this forum is wrong, because they can only go by what they have been told, but to advise all of us that things are not always what they seem to be. I don't want anyone to fear that there is a problem with their vehicle that will affect it's near term and/or long term performance as it relates to minor overfilling of the case.

    Good info.

Note: Oil on my driveway is why I changed from Chevy to Ford in the 80's.

It is a big deal to me.

As long as it did not cost me, the dealer was nice about it, and the vehicle will operate correctly for its normal life than I'm ok.

BUT if this is a life limiter, we got trouble.

  4. 18" wheels are fine, the Edge has the same size. If you want 20" wheels just buy them already, if you can afford an mkx (even a lease) you should be able to afford your own wheels. I want 22's myself and most will be happy with 18".

I love the look of the 20s but did not want to give up ride comfort.

I decided to stick with 18s and don't regret it in the least.

  5. <snip>

I never got any message about having the wrong lights whatsoever. Night driving is awesome now. As a matter of fact, I was riding side to side with a Lincoln MKX as we looked like twins. Both my HID and the MKX were as bright as the other. My HID lights looks as equal as the factory MKX do. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to have the MKX look with THE EDGE.

Just remember, when you order your HID kit, get the 6000k H11 kit + a pair of Relay Kit to make the HID work perfectly.

    Enjoy.

I'm not sure what this is.

The MKX lights turn in the direction of the wheels.

I think HID are super bright lights.

Is the 6000k H11 kit + relay Ford parts?

Ford Motor Company experts clear the air on all-wheel drive vs. four-wheel drive

    With the...

Picked up a 05 Ford Escape AWD in 06 from CarMax.

I was amazed what this did for the ride.

The first time it rained I floored it into a right turn and never lost traction.

Since then, I was sold on AWD.

When I ordered the Edge, there was no other consideration.

  7. Ordered an Edge SEL AWD with everything.

At the time of order the 18" wheels were on hold.

    So.....

    we got New Wheels & Tires;

Had to remove the wheels and rotors to prep and paint the rusty bits ford forgot to paint on the rotors.

Good old High Heat BBQ paint.

Wheels are back on and looking great.

    Ordered 4 of these to replace the TSW center caps;

Decided to buy these rotors for the front when EBC makes them for the Edge.

Something tells me they are common with another Ford.
