  1. Has anyne else heard this? I have read a couple things on this and it seems like worth a try. Says 2oz of 100% pure acetone per 10 gallons of gas and get 6+ more mpg. Couple guys soaked carb parts as well as hoses and so forth in acetone with little or no harm, and that was straight aetone. So 2oz per 10 gallons should be no harm. 100% acetone is like 150 octane, therefore you burn more of your mixture in the chambers. Got me thinking and may put the focus to the test.

  2. With a SCT flash tune, your dealer will not find it as long as you take aftermarket tune out before taking it to dealer. Only way the dealers knew you had a chip in your PCM is because you have to rid of a silicone type on the connectors. The tuner is a good way to go this day in time. Grab an intake and a tuner, you will be getting better gas mileage for sure.

  3. Same here. I have a fully-loaded SEL +, and reverse sensing is listed on the sticker as an option.

Mine is a 2007 SEL, no sensors.

As for value, I expected the Edge to hold better than a V6/GT mustang. I was wrong again. I love Ford and a straight Ford man, but this will probably be my last new Ford. I would like to keep some money in my pocket over time. I am a huge drag racer and will only use mustangs, but other than that, import will be my next purchase for new if I get tired of the Edge. The only car I bought and had good luck with was a 04 Mach 1. If it isn;t a special edition vehicle, don't buy it. I lost $9K in 8 months on a V6 mustang convertible. :finger:

  4. To help shed some light on this subject, the re-tune of a PCM will not hurt the life of your vehicle. The tune that comes factory in every vehicle is made to be as safe and economy friendly as possible. Also, it allows for furthur upgrades in the future without the manufacturer spending a ton more on a vehicle. The reflash of the PCM reconfigures the valve timing, a/f, cam timing, and various other specs. Now, couple years ago you had the basic Superchips, Diablo, Hypertech (haha), and so forth. Those tuners helped, but not much. They were basic tunes that was safe for each PCM in that model bought for. If you notice, the tuners were sold mustang 99-04 models. Well, the new SCT programs are CUSTOM matched to YOUR PCM. Each model can have up to 4 different PCM's. Your 99-04 mustang GT's had a GTG1, GTG3, and so on. That is why you need your PCM code to get a tuner loaded by a SCT dealer. It specifically tunes your PCM to the best performance possible. Enigne will run smoother, and more efficient along with shift ponits and pressure in your tranny. When I tuned my mach 1 on my dyno I gained a nice 12 real real wheel horsepower out of a stock engine. Ran a 12.96 in the 1/4 and got a smooth 32 mpg on the highway. You will see a gain in performance and mpg with an aftermarket tune. As for gains in diesels, totally different animal. We won't get into that, but if you have any questions I will answer them for you, I am a vet in tuning :)

  5. Ok guys, well I took her in at 30K miles and most was fixed. BUT!! what I didn't mention in my first post was I had a head tick start in the engine and started getting louder about 10K miles ago. Well, Ford made them put a new engine in for us. Not sure what the tick was, but they said may be something in the engine. So, at 30K, I got me a new engine and all issues fixed. Hmmm..... like new again. :) So if you have a head tick, go to your dealer ASAP!

  6. So, I am at 27,000 miles and I have a few issues that need to be checked. Nothing major but here we go, and if you have had these issues please let me know.

*Driver seat feels loose. After put into position it has a movement every so often of about a 1/4 inch.

*Clank/rattle in rear when hitting little bumps.

    *Little rattle in passenger door.

*Back hatch interior loose and un-snapping.

*MY FRONT TIRES HAVE AN UNUSUAL WEAR. MIDDLE THREADS WORN PRE-MATURE AND GETTING VERY SLICK.

*At low speeds the tranny jerks. (I know about this)

Only one major, others aren't to shabby. Our tires are those cheap continentals. Anyone else have those issues? On a FWD vehicle, when do YOU rotate tires? I have always had mustangs so FWD is new to me :banghead: .

  7. Ford dealerships is what makes Ford look bad. I would drive the loaner through the front door myself, but I have a short fuse on things like that. I spent over $30k on a vehicle from your lot, you WILL respect me. Go raise hell and have them give you a brand new edge or something with same value to drive. I did when my mach 1 went into shop for a few days. You will not give me a $15K car that is a POS and has boogers on it and smells like a strip club.

I havn't heard of a problem on brakes myself, but glad no accident. My next oil change I am having them go over the entire car to make sure I have no issues. I just get tired of that damn noise every time I hit a bump in the rear area. I have put a piece of cloth behind the license plate and that isn't it. Other than that, no issues here.

  8. I should better clarify myself. The basic Superchips programmers are generic tunes. What I mean by that is you see how the tuners will work for, lets say 99-2004 mustang Gt's. They are a VERY mild. As for Diablo, they are the same, unless you get the custom tune. As for SCT, the program is based off of your cars PCM. As for my mach 1. TMX4 was my PCM code. All PCM's have different adjustments. The mach 1 has 4-5 different codes I have seen. SCT goes into that specific PCM and adjust the features on the PCM only. As for the Superchips tuner can do all mach 1's. Reason is, they can only adjust timing so much. What they do is creat a tune on the weakest PCM. So when it starts to misfire in a cylinder, they back it back down and flash the tuners with the specific tune. That should clear it up for you guys and gals :)

  9. I use to be a SCT dealer myself. Getting a tune does make your car run alot more efficient. IF you get the SCT custom tune. Your basic Diablo and Superchips tuners are generic. CAI, and tune will allow for better gas mileage and performance.
