  1. Just so y'all are clear about what I'm trying to do, I do not want to place an aftermarket rack permanently on the roof and cover the vista roof forever. Duh! My intent is for temporary use to carry a cargo box (like a Thule Evolution/Atlantis or Yakima Skybox) and/or bike rack. I often go to to Lake Tahoe and Yosemite, summer and winter, and it is much easier to throw the stuff on the roof and leave the interior free for people and comfort. Between these outings, the roof stuff comes off and the vehicle remains "cool" for urban life. Ya'know, the clubs, the restaurants, the shows, and the jaunts to bed, bath, and beyond and home depot. So, I'm looking for anyone who has tried this and would like to share their experience for the benefit of everyone here on the forum.

    Thanks to everyone.

y did you buy a edge in the first place if you want to all this. y did you not buy a expedition that way you have a sun roof and roof rack.

  2. Thanks. But my preferred desire is to use a roof rack because of the versatility. I have both a Thule Evolution box and a rooftop bike carrier - I typically put both on the roof, side-by-side. I'd rather leave the hatch unencumbered.

Looks like Yakima may have something that will work. If anyone out there has installed one, I'd love to hear about your experience.

    thanks.

    Bring on the sun !

i cant for the life of me why people would buy a car with a sun roof and then try to put a roof rack on

  3. the gas mileage thing is your fault, take it easy on the pedal and change your style of driving. The advertised numbers are very obtainable. I can get 17/24 when I watch my driving.

I cant help you with the static but the rattle may be coming from the spare tire hold down.

    -Dan

i can help with static change to fm . thats my the made fm.

  4. I was out on a road trip this weekend and when i went to get one of the dogs out from under the rear axle where she was sleeping i noticed there was rust on the hook like mount of the exhaust pipe directly upstream from the chrome tip. I didnt check the passenger side, but on feeling around (i wasnt getting on my back in the dirt that day) it felt like the rest of the hook was painted and not rusting, but the end was for a few inches (noticible). I am sure i'll get photos at some point and am planning on getting down to check it in the driveway at some point soon.

I am wondering if other people are having this issue. Apart from driving on sand in various places i have only done road driving. Its been the dry season here, so generally most of the roads have been dry, certainly no road salts as it never snows here! We live about 40 miles from the coast, so it shouldnt be from that either. I am close to 3k miles and going to show the dealer when we get our first service in a month or two. It doesnt look like its eating away too much yet, but could do over more time. I would assume that the rust warranty covers this type of issue, but would like to have that clarified. This would be the first real problem i have had with the car, although hopefully its easy to fix with a bit of debrading and sealing with paint etc.

    ford doesn't fix surface rust.

  5. Agreed, 18" wheels should be higher quality.

Overall though, whats your impression of the Edge? I like that sage color...very refined looking.

my wife pick the color we only have a 100 miles on it over all wife likes it. for me i wish they would had white they said some woman pick the colors for edge. ours is a selplus awd with all but trailer and nav. at has everthing else

  6. Today's fill up, about 285 miles 15.75 gal = 18.1mpg 80% city, 20% highway over the past two weeks. I saw some cheap gas at a Shell station otherwise i would have driven it a bit further on that tank. The computer suggests i will get about 380 per tank - generally i get pretty close to the tank estimate.

I can't people belive in the computer giving the right fuel milage
