Being unable to find the source of a power steering fluid leak I had my '08  Edge Limited AWD towed to a shop. They tell me the rack and pinion is cracked and will have me an estimate in a few days. Does anyone have an idea what it costs to change as an average?

Today I was hunting a possible leak in my power steering system. Took the car on a quick drive after cleaning it the pervious night. When I returned home I parked over top of my cardboard. When I get out it is actively dripping a red oil on the drivers sidewith a strong smell. Anyone have any idea what this may be? I suspect a transmission line is leaking but the dipstick still has fluid on it.
