I bought my 2017 Edge with very little miles from a used dealer. I believe, as we waited for the car, they changed all of the filters as I found out later. Anyways, in driving it home on the highway, there was this very noticeable rattling, blowing sound coming from and below the glovebox area. I took it to my local Ford dealer. They removed my glove box and said that the cover to the cabin air filter was broken. They said this often happens when someone changes the filter and doesn't know how to maneuver the cover. To fix this problem, they can't just replace the cover. They have to buy the whole part which is almost 1000.00 and then the labor is going to be almost a whole day's worth. I couldn't believe it. I am working with the dealer I bought it from to fix it (not a FORD dealer). First they tried to just "patch" the plastic cover which did absolutely nothing. I am taking it back. Any insight on this or suggestions?

The Ford dealer said you cannot get the part separate. It was cracked down the middle. There are screws in it now. The other dealer tried to fix it by melting plastic or some kind of adhesive on the crack.
