  1. Thanks for your explanation on this. I think you are right. I have a BBK on my Edge and I was like , I've never heard of this before. Piston melt, or broke usually comes with to much timing and not enough octane at wide open throttle. I guess that is why they suggest to use higher octane then your custom tune is designed for. As in 91 octane tune, try to run 92 or 93 octane so you don't get any spark knock or knock retard. That's why this had me wondering. But I say again thank you for the time you gave me on this.

  2. Tried the 5 gear up hill at 60 mph know surging up hill at all ,even at lower speeds and faster speeds. Put it back in drive or in 6 gear up hill and the surging starts. Even when I'm in 5 gear and its not surging up hill, and I shift in to 6th gear it starts surging. I'm thinking it is the lock out torque converter now, I may be wrong, but it is sure seems trans related. I think you are right I need a new tune from Unleashed thanks.

  3. Hi all, thought I might step in here to see what the dealers hotline has to say for junehhan. I'm having the same issue. I have a 2014 sport that I have done some mode's to. One mode is a BBK throttle body for the 3.7 with a cold air intake. The throttle body works excellent with added power and better response to the throttle. But it made the surging a little bit worse when in cruise control in 6 gear at any speed over 50 mph.- 70 mph. If I take it off of cruise it seems to stop doing it, where as I have to use the throttle peddle to control the speed. I had a 2008 Edge that was doing it too on any hill climb, and it was a bad Coil. I don't think it is the coil this time where as a lot of sport models are having the same problem, and I have a X4 SCT Programmer from Unleashed tuning on my sport and it is showing know misfire to any cylinder. I will be very interested to see what the hotline has to say. Thank you.

  4. Thanks for the info , Its at about 4000 RPMs when it shifts from second to third gear. It dose the same thing when I hit the paddle from third gear to fourth it shifts into fifth gear. Very strange, its as if it thinks I'm hitting the paddle shift again.

  5. I'm wondering if this is normal or if I have a problem or how to stop it from happing. On my 2014 EDGE Sport when I go WOT in sport mod in first gear and tap shift to second gear at 6000 rpm it shifts into second gear for a second or two and then shifts into third gear with out me touching the paddle. Is it suppose to do that? Its like it is skip shifting by its self. Any help here is appreciated. Thank you.

  6. Hi all , Just wanted to tell a good story here. It's going to be a little long. I have a 2014 EDGE Sport that I wanted to program with a custom tune. I called Steeda.ca for their service which I had used before in the past on a 08 EDGE. Service was good then and so was the tune. I told them at Steeda that there was no program available from SCT for the 2014 EDGE at this time. They in turn said no problem we can do it here. I said great ,and ordered a tune, with them knowing I was using a X3 and them knowing that the X3 would not work on the newer EDGE's. It took a week to get a tune from them, even after I emailed the Guy from Steeda .ca that had done a tune for me before to find out what was wrong and why it was taking so long. He didn't even know that I had ordered a tune. So he gets me a tune and needless to say this did not work and all the X3 would tell me was, it cannot unlock vehicle. So I call SCT and they tell me that the X3 is outdated for 2014 EDGE and that I needed to get a X4. So I call Steeda back again, I should have known by now something was not right. Told them that the tune I got for the X3 from them would not work and that I would need a X4. They said they would refund my money on the first tune that I got from them, if I order the X4 with their tunes in it, from them. I said sounds good ,and ordered away. The X4 came pretty fast, 3 days to my house. That's good to where I live. So tuning a way I went. Tried many times, but it just would not unlock the vehicle. So I call steeda and tell them it will not work. They say update the X4, so I did 282 updates, back out to try again, but still no go. Get error 110BE cannot unlock vehicle, happens every time. This is about 3.00am. Steeda tells me they will call SCT and see what is wrong and to call them back in hour, so in the mean time I email someone, that some on here already know Mike Rogers from SCT know as Blivit on here . Great guy!. He went out of his way to try and help me solve this problem. asked me to send him the tune off the X4 that came from steeda so I did. Said he would look it over in the morning. Now I start reading on here, which I should have done first before I ordered anything from steexda.ca. and Torrie from unleashed tuning was being spoke of. Smart man. I email him to see if the 14 EDGE could be unlocked and tuned. He emails me in about 3 minutes after I send him a email and confirms that it can be tuned and that he has done some in the past already. I call steeda back after a hour to see what they have to say and they tell me to call them back tomorrow noon time. He can't get anyone from SCT to help him right now. So I email Mike and Torrie talking to them about what may be the problem because I'm getting no support from Steeda.ca , and they are trying to help me out with trying to trouble shot the problem. This goes on till 10.00pm at night ,(who does this for a guy that is car crazy and just wants more out of his EDGE), these guys did , Great guys wish I knew them personally . Now here's where it gets good, turns out the tune that Mike Rogers was going over in his time early in the morning , I would say 6.30am , was for a 95 Ford Ranger. 1995 -2014. I'm laughing as I write this, cause it is hard to believe. And the PCM code was even wrong. Mike tells me I need steeda to get a new tune emailed to me for my EDGE and to get the 7 digit strategy code out of my vehicle with the X4, So I did. I call steeda at noon time and ask them if they have any information from SCT that can help us. They say, not yet don't know how long it will take. I tell them that I have been corresponding with Mike Rogers From SCT and I sent him the tune that they gave me with the X4, and that the tune you put in the X4 is for a 95Ranger. I say (What's that all about?) I don't think they liked that. I gave them the strategy code and asked them to build me a tune around that code. They told me to hang on they would check the code. Came back with, your EDGE is a real 2014 Sport made in 07/14 and cannot be tuned. That code does not exist. Said they called SCT and they said it cannot be tuned, SCT has not cracked the code yet on the 14 and that it cannot be done. I told Steeda that I had been communicating with Unleashed tuning and that Torrie said he has already done a bunch. They said no way, not the 2014 he has not done them yet. It can't be done. Well I'm tuned needless to say ,cost me a little more because of my stupidity, but money well spent. Torrie is the guy that can get the job done. As already said on here, if you want more out of your EDGE he is the guy to deal with. Had me two tunes in less than 10 minutes. Both these guys helped me a lot , and went out of their way to help me through the whole ordeal for two days, really makes me feel proud knowing this, cause without them I would have been out a lot of money for nothing. I can only hope someone else learns from this and does not make the mistake I did. This has been quite an experience and that I have learned a good lesson here, that the US are far more advanced in technology than Canada, and that I will always read here before I make a spare of the moment decision concerning my EDGE.   8. The salesman is half right. You need to connect to the Ford service tool if you want to bleed the system upstream of the ABS module. If you want to bleed the system between the ABS module and the wheels, you can do a conventional bleed as noted in the other responses.

     

    So be super careful to keep the master cylinder topped up as you bleed. If you let it get to low and suck in some air from the top side, it's off to the dealer.

    Thanks for all the replys guys, great info, so Akirby we do need to have the Edge's motor running when we bleed the brakes cause we have the 4 channel ABS on our Edges, that is great to know, but do we also need to use a pressure bleeder to bleed the brakes properly? I just did a search on google and this is one site scroll to the bottom of the page were it says Brake System Bleeding. This has me thinking. You my have to copy and paste this site.

I was talking to a Ford salesmen about bleeding brakes on my Edge cause they feel a little spongy and he said that you can only get that done properly at the ford dealers shop, cause you need to hook up the scanner on the Edge before you bleed the brakes. Something to do with abs and the sensors. He was saying that ECM or PCM has to keep pressure on the system while you bleed them. Dose this sound right to you guys. Thanks for reading.

    I also have a 2008. What would tghe symptoms be if this repair was needed? Is this something that tends to happen with higher milage?

    Just wanted to thank everyone for there info and to thank igcitngfor posting the two TSB Attachments. I have a 2008. I printed them off and went to my dealer here in N.S. Canada, because I new I had a Rear bearing gone on the drivers side and they did not know about the TSB on this. I have 87000 km on it and It said that it applyed to the Edge being built before !2/4/08. Mine was built 12 days before this date. They asked me where I got the TBS's from on the problem and I said I have friends in high places lol. It sounded like the passenger side was starting to go to so the dealer was good enough to change everything on both sides for me before my warranty ran out. Needless to say they had to order the trailing arms and knuckles in because they had never changed any before on any of the EDGE's they had sold there, not.knowing about the TSB meant they just changed the hub.bearing on some of them that came back..(lol) I'm a little surprised that the dealers are not better updated than this on known problems that people are having with there vehicles. O well hopfully folks like me will always have forums to come on and get the info they need. Thanks again.

    Livio your Edge looks really good. It makes the wheels stand out a lot more,thumbs up to you. I think these also look pretty good for the price which is around $150. I like the way folks like to rice people for doing a upgrade to there own vehicle,it makes me laugh. I see the real BREMBO brake setup on the STEEDA website are $3395.00. not cheep. I saw these covers on ebay. 4 different colors

  14. Thanks for the replys guys. I looked on ebay and the cheapest I could find was $641 plus shipping. I looked on the .ca and the .com both the same. StrongWind thats a good point you have there, its just that I'm after better flow to work in conjunction with my X3 tuner that I got from Evolution. I'm feeling the Major Increase In Throttle Response but not the 24 RWHP and 19 RWTQ gain. 24 rear wheel horse power with a 25% lose in drive train is around 32 fly wheel horse power to add on to the 265 we already have. I have the CAI. I just don't have the exhaust. I'm feeling around 15 hp gain. Some people say you can't feel that hp but believe me I can tell just a 10 horse power gain. I have good knowledge in modifying cars to make more hp and it comes with a price. Usually it cost around $150 for every 10hp and every degree of timing you can add to the motor is Worth 10hp. Our motor is like a air compressor get as much air in as you can and then try to get it out. I have read on here were some one said if you want a sports car go buy one, whats wrong with having a SUV that goes fast but doesn't break our wallet. Please don't get me wrong on this I'm not trying to be smart I just want you to understand what my problem is.

  15. whew, I'm glad I'm not as retarded as I thought I was there for a minute. The pipe from that first muffler back is great for flow it looks like, so I might look into replacing those back 2 mufflers (which is what I thought they were, but wasn't sure) with something that sounds better and might flow better...I'll head over to the muffler shop and see what I can do.

    How did you make out at the muffler shop Nomos? Was there a replacement or custom set the shop could put on for those restricted mufflers the Edge has? I would like to change just the mufflers to a better flowing set rather than pay $700.00 to get the Magnaflow Catback in Canada, witch only has a different muffler from the setup that we already have. The pipe is the same size and the resonator that we have is not restrictive so \I only see the muffler as being any different.

  16. Not sure but I haven't heard of any type of "chip" on a late model Ford. You need a programmer. As for hypertech advertising the "most horsepower" - they can only change a few parameters - there is no magic hp switch. Go with a reputable brand like SCT.

    Thanks akirby, I agree with you on the programmer. I have the X3 from Evolution and it works fine. I was just wondering if any one had tryed these other programmers or modules on there Edge yet.

  17. You said you haven't seen anyone on here talk about a "chip". I was just clarifying that the reason for that is that they do not exist - just in case some people were still wondering.

    Are the Jet Performance Module for the Edge classified as a chip? They are found here http://www.autoanything.com/performance-chips/10A50207.aspx . Also has any one used the Hypertech Max Energy Programmer ? It says that it is the most hp Programmer out there for the Edge.

  18. Thanks for the reply guys. It will be interesting to see what happened on the video. Lex you may be right. I was thinking that but the water should have run back out of the tailpipe cause the Edge was siting up hill ,but who knows it sounds logical. It has not happened since the last time and I have washed my Edge lot of time since that day.

Hi all, hope your all enjoying some nice weather.I have a 08 and I'm just wondering if any one has experienced any blue smoke out of the exhaust pipe when you start up after 2hr sit on a little bit of a hill grade, front of the Edge being higher then the back? This as happened to me twice, I start it up on level ground know smoke and move it to were I wash and clean my Edge and it is on a bit of a hill rise and it sets there for 2hr. and I start it back up and the blue smoke just rolls out of it. I run full synthetic Mobile ! and change it every 8000 km . It doesn't seem to lower the oil on the dipstick from one oil change to another so I guess it is nothing to worry about. I did a search on it and did a lot of reading but did not find anything on this problem but I was just wondering so I thought I would post a topic to see if any one else has seen this. I thought at first it must be letting oil by the valve rubbers but who knows. Any how any info would be greatly appreciated thanks.
