No back up camera or radio
Brockdog12 replied to Brockdog12's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I saw an article this morning Ford is recalling vehicles for back up camera issue, one model is the 21-24 Edge, guess I'll wait and see if I get a letter. -
No back up camera or radio
Brockdog12 replied to Brockdog12's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I'll check for the Sirius update. Odd that that would happen after driving for about 20 minutes, shutting it off to run into the stop and go for less than a minute, then get it, start the vehicle and have no back up camera or stereo for about a mile, can't even use the power button to get it to come on. Dealer called me after I emailed them for I felt is a lack of trying to solve the problem. They are getting me a loaner lined up and they're also going to replace missing splash shield bolts since they do all me oil changes, had to bring that up to them also, like I wasn't going to check their work. -
So at times, I start my 2022 SEL, I get no camera, no audio, cluster says audio off, pressing the power button on the volume knob does not power on the system, it will eventually power on after a mile or so of driving down the road. Problem is completely random, Ford has never been able to duplicate the problem, even though I have showed the pictures and videos of the vehicle in reverse with no back up camera, totally black display. Ford is recalling other models for no back up camera or back up camera issues, but dismisses my issue. Also, to access bluetooth audio on my phone, I have to hit the phone button on the display about 4 to 5 times or more each time before it will switch over to my phone. I do have the extended warranty on the vehicle and it is still under the 3/36000.

Software update or something?
Brockdog12 replied to Brockdog12's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
So I continue to have issues with my Sync, again this morning, no back up camera, no radio, just a Ford logo for about a half mile until the radio came on. This is more frequent now than ever and every time I take it to Ford, they can't duplicate the failure, even with my showing them videos and pictures of the problems, they refuse to troubleshoot it any further. -
No codes, just studder then either go to normal idle rpm or die. Turns out this is the purge valve. I was able to find stuff on it with the Google. Oddly enough, last month, I also got a letter from Ford about the purge valve issue and to bring the vehicle in and they will replace it at no charge. It's under the 3/36 still anyways. UPDATE: The letter I got from Ford for a defective purge valve is actually for my 2018 Focus, which has never showed any signs of an issue. My Edge still wants to die at idle after fueling up, haven't had time to get to the dealer.

Software update or something?
Brockdog12 replied to Brockdog12's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Turns out it was a failing battery. I replaced the battery in mine yesterday, it was getting all kinds of battery save messages popping up on Fordpass and the infotainment screen. Radio would shut off as soon as the vehicle was shut off, etc... After the battery swap, all chimes are back to what they were prior, nothing over amplified now like before, no more shutting down to save power message. I wonder if this has been the issue with my back up camera being inop when powered on and radio not coming on when starting the vehicle. I placed a volt meter on the battery and pressed the Start button to play radio and the voltage reading went from 12.5V-ish to lower 11V in seconds. Battery was only 26 mos old. Engine running voltage to battery is 14.5+. -
Software update or something?

Thank you for the replies. I'll pay closer attention to where to chime is coming from, it did sound local to the dash area and not the sound system, but no signs of a battery issue, been starting and running fine and radio plays a while when not running the engine. Still under bumper to bumper, only 24,000 miles on it. I have to take it in for the purge valve or something fuel related since it has started dying and rough idling after gassing up now. -
Observation only...I think my 22 Edge SEL did an update overnight or something, when I started it this morning, there was something on the screen that went away pretty quick, then I noticed the seat belt chime was annoyingly louder than normal and the red seat belt light looked brighter and the check backseat tone was also louder than normal when I shut the vehicle off.

Thanks!

Recent issue just started with my 22 2.0L ecoboost, 23,000 miles, sometimes during idle at a stop light or whatever, the engine with stumble and RPM's drop around 300 then it idles back up then it will do it again a few seconds later, then go away, engine at operating temp, start/stop in turned off. Not throwing a code. Thanks!

Thanks! Been to the dealer twice, they aren't any help. Also the bluetooth connection to the phone is bad, everytime you receive or make a call, you have to hangup and call back.

I have a '22 Edge SEL, sometime late spring or early summer Sync did an update and now my backup camera will not always function and the stereo will be powered off when I start the vehicle. Eventually the system will power on on its own, since the power button is also inoperable when this occurs. Also the bluetooth connection when making and receiving calls is badly broken up or non-existent. I can only blame the latest update since everything worked fine before the update. I took it to the dealer last evening since I'm well inside the 3/36. I'm sure they won't find anything, but I had plenty of pictures to show them of the issue with the vehicle in reverse and no backup camera, just a black screen.

I took my 22 SEL in Saturday for regular maintenance and they told me there was a PCM recall/update to do with driveability they would go ahead and do while in. I told the service guy that since the last Sync update, I lose my rear camera and sometimes the stereo is off completely when I start it and it takes a good mile or so down the road until it powers on. I showed him pics of the vehicle in reverse with a black screen and no working camera. This has happened at least a dozen or more times. Also the bluetooth is glitchy playing music and using the hands free phone it drops audio and is very choppy.

New PowerUp version, nice changes
Brockdog12 replied to MLTEdge's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Are these updates for the 12" screen I guess? I haven't looked at my version. What are some things to look for? Personally looking down too long to adjust the fan speed and climate temp is a pain. Thanks! -
Hey all, I have a 22 SEL AWD, what has anyone done to improve the night time back up visibility if anything? LED's are horrible and overall visibility is too dark. If its raining, forget it. This is the worst night time back up camera I've had on a vehicle. If posted somewhere else, please direct me there. TIA!

2020 Wiring Diagram (6 speaker system)
Brockdog12 replied to DBBobbyT's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Thank you very much for posting this! I was hoping for the wiring bundle to be under the sill plate, oh well. I did get power run through the passenger side of the firewall ok if I didn't mention that.- 6 replies

Before I pull the door sill plates, does anyone know if the speaker wiring is routed under the sill plates like many vehicles or is the Edge different? Thanks!- 6 replies

Sub/Amp add to Stock 2021 SEL
Brockdog12 replied to xer0derm's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I'm in the process of adding a sub to my 2022 SEL. Ran the power wire through the firewall last evening. Next I'll tap audio from the right rear speaker wiring in the B pillar. I'm installing the Infiniti BassLink mini I got from Crutchfield. I had it in my 22 Bronco and pulled it when I got rid of the truck. I'm just looking to enhance the sound some. I may add tweeters to the rear doors eventually too. UPDATE: Sub install complete, sound in much improved. . -
I've tried the passenger side grommet and am hitting something with my wire feed after making a small hole, doesn't appear trying any direction makes a difference. Should be simple enough, but no success. Thanks!

2019 Edge ST amplifier install
Brockdog12 replied to Beefnuts's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I just tried the passenger side large grommet to run power for a subwoofer and got through the little circle part with an exacto blade, but was hitting something beyond that point with my fiberglass rod. My son could see the wire bundle moving inside the vehicle but I could not push the fiberglass rod through. Any ideas what might be beyond the grommet? I’ve made several firewall pass throughs on other vehicles, this one should be easy. Thanks!
