I have a 24 Ford edge and just recently noticed the parking brake applied itself when shutting off the car in my driveway (slight incline). Is this a feature on the car or a malfunction?

I have a 24 Edge SEL with power seats. Has anyone heard almost like a grinding sound when moving the drivers seat up or down- it doesn’t sound smooth as when moving the seat forward or back. Anyone else experience this?
