  1. Unfortunately, that message has been ther for a few months now...at least 2, since I've been looking. I hope they get this fixed up soon.

Finally available under Ford part # AA5Z-10E987-A for the bargain price of $795!!

I think I'll keep the old maps until they start showing up on eBay

  2. I'd like to hear opinions also... Been wondering the same thing.

Just a reminder, if you decide to take them off for the Winter and put on regular wheels and tires (non 22") and you have Sync and Navigation, you will need to have the dealership set the tire size in the GPS config. I didn't realize that until they had to replace my Nav head unit and they asked me if I had non-stock tires when he was configuring the navi system. It also may be for the gas mileage calculation computer.

Anyway, I just decided I am not running mine in the snow and picked up an old Subaru Legacy for the PA winter season. That'll stretch out my warranty and let my kid have a car when she hits 16 in a year.

  3. you might get lucky and find someone selling it on eBay?

I know that you can often find 4p, 6p, etc.. I know your 2009 uses a different DVD, but point is, unless you can find someone with a 2009 willing to make you a DVD copy, that might be your best bet?

interesting that Navteq and Ford parted ways.. but also sucks as that leaves any updates for us all up in the air :(

The DVD's on eBay are for pre-09 models. Starting in 09 they went to a hard disk based GPS system. Essentially you update the maps from a DVD and then you are done with it. I was hoping someone with an 09 may have heard something or found something out.

Oh well, I have a Garmin with 2010 maps installed so if I get in a jam I can put that on the dash for a quick get out of trouble until I find a fix for this issue.

  4. Does anyone know what the scoop is on updating the maps on the 2009 navi system? Navteq is no longer in partnership with Ford, Ford says contact the dealership and the dealership is clueless.

I have a nice new 09 Edge Sport loaded and the maps are literally from 4 - 5 years ago! I'd really like to update the navi system with something a little more current but keep hitting a brick wall. A small thing to complain about as other than some minor problems in the beginning this seems like a solid car with head turning looks. The 22" rims are sweet, but I am dreading tire replacement time as it will be close to $1K to do all 4 tires.

Any advice on the map update would be appreciated!

  5. Hi,

I am relatively new to the forum, and just purchased a Ford Edge Limited 2009, awaiting delivery next week. I was just wondering, what is the brand/model of the navigation in the Ford Edge 2009, and is it available after-market. I don't want to lose SYNC, so I am wondering if its possible to buy a factory nav of Ebay or something. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    yazza

I have heard it is a Sony system. I have it in my 09 Edge Sport. It is hard drive based, and the graphics and performance are light years ahead of the 2008 versions DVD based systems. I have not seen any on Ebay yet, but there are 2 sellers who must get NAV systems from wrecked or other sources and they always have new programmed systems for Ford vehicles.

I had problems with my first one but after 3 trips to the dealership and a lot of rage they swapped one out with another 09 Edge on the lot. I am now a happy camper. It appears the 2010 NAV systems will be a part of the SYNC 3.0 system and will not have the display screen so this may be a one year wonder.

  6. getting ready to order a 2010 Edge Sport but need trailer tow.

Is there an aftermarket hitch that will work with the sport setup?

I inquired with this company to get one for mine. They only have a class one, but given how low you will find the rear bumper is, I don't think you can pull much more without losing the bumper or exhaust tips!

  7. I just took delivery of an 09 AWD Sport with the heavy 22" wheels and I can't get above an average of 14.6mpg. I have a K&N air filter on the way and am thinking about a Magnaflow exhaust upgrade to get it breathing easier. I had a 08 Escape V6 4WD and went from 16mpg to almost 19mpg with breakin and a K&N air filter. The stock paper filter material is very restrictive and does cause reduced gas mileage and at this rate I'll take any gain I can get.
