Hi All, First time post. My wife's 2019 ST has a bit of drivetrain noise that has had me concerned for awhile now and I want to fix. Before heading to the dealer I figured Id ask around in order to show up informed considering it's OOW. (100K)
The sound is not very loud, just a slight clunking sound (middle rear) whenever you let off on the gas or accelerate at lower speeds (under 40) It's probably doing it at higher speeds but cant be heard due to higher rpms and road noise. My first thought was a bad U joint or some slack in the diff but I'm fairly certain these AWD units are built a little differently? My inspection mechanic said it was drivetrain slack (not very specific) and to just ignore it (not happening). No surging or bucking, just an annoying sound that says wear and a potential catastrophic tear...
Any ideas? Thx
