Hey Guys, Taking a shot in the dark here with this one.
So i had the infamous "Door Ajar" issue with my 2011 Edge SEL. I tried the Cans of electronics cleaner, and that would work for a short bit. I then came across the Youtube video's of people grounding out the wire's to eliminate the problem. Awesome, finally a fix! And it was, for about 6-8 months. Now the problem is back, i have searched all the youtube comments and forums and have had no luck finding someone else who has had this problem come back, more less how they fixed it.
Its enough to drive you insane honestly. It seems to only happen at night, or at least thats when i notice it most because of the dome lights and puddle lights being on. When i rewired the wire to ground i made sure to check that when it was grounded the warning on the dash went off. When i go out to the car and open the Passenger Front Door the dome light or any other lights wont come on, letting me know the ground worked? Yet, mostly at night it seems, the lights inside the car will just mysteriously come on, and i will go outside, open the door close it and the warning goes off on the dash and the lights go off. It happens sometimes a couple times a night, sometimes all night. I have been through 3 batteries trying to fix this issue. Now i just pull the positive terminal off when im done with the car for the day. And that obviously isnt a permanent fix.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, or any leads even. Im stumped and dont really have the funds to let the local ford dealership go fishing until they figure out what it is. Sorry for the paragraph, wanted to make sure i got it all in there. Thanks!
