  1. Now we are think PTU, how do you troubleshoot it to know if it is bad?
  2. I am not sure how well you can hear it, but hopefully this will be helpful.
  3. New here and seeking some advice. I have a 2008 Edge AWD its making a very loud noise when driving down the road. Everyone I talked to said wheel bearing noise as it gets quieter when turning (right turns especially), louder with more speed. It's for sure coming from the front end. However I just had the bearings replaced on both sides even though they didn't seem bad. The sound never changed. The tire rod ends were also replaced as they had a little play in them. The noise remains the same. I was thinking maybe CV axels? but there's no popping sounds I am told is associated with it. You can barely hear it at low speeds and the sound gets increasingly louder with speed, to the point you can't hardly hear anything else. I don't want to keep throwing money at it and hoping it'll fix it, but I need to do something. If anyone knows what it is, I sure would like the help. If you have any further questions or advice on this issue, just let me know. Also, in a possibly related question,,, there is a loud clunk when going from drive or park to reverse unless you completely come to a stop and pause for a second or two, then it doesn't do it. This has been going on for quite sometime, maybe a couple years, but the other noise has progressively gotten louder over the last few months. If you could help diagnose the cause of this I'd greatly appreciate it too. (engine mounts seem solid if that matters) Thank you. ~ADC~
