  1. Hey guys, I recently got a ford edge and i was thinking of ways to make it look cooler. I'm thinking of lifting it a tad and putting some thick wide off-roading tires on it, to give it a kind of dune-buggy/moon-rover look haha....anyone have any advice on leveling kits or lift kits for edge's? Also does anyone know if what i want can be done?

I'm so surprised no-one has done a lift kit with overfenders and roof basket on an Edge yet.

I think it would look great.

    Early Bronco style...

Eventually a full locker with a winch on the front, prerunner bumber, swing out spare tire rack for the back where do we stop?

  2. After taking our Edge in for the "horrible smell" and having the service tech offer to "Deodorize" out Edge for $50 we decided to replace the cabin filter (which they told us "Some Edges have them and some don't and your Edge didn't come with a cabin filter"). That didn't work so I took it to another service tech who didn't even look at the car before ordering the PTU replacement seal. She called when the parts were in and had the PTU replaced in about 4 hours and gave us a free rental.

Why the second experience wasn't like the first I'll never know.

  3. ...the tail lights, they said that they did not think it was too bad of a problem. They are going to compare the color of the lamps and sockets with a tech's edge that they have at home which matches the year and mileage of mine. I told them of my concern that the bulb is not only discolored, but somewhat melted. They gave me a story about how a lot of Fords are like that and how their car used to blow bulbs all the time. WTF!

I got the same story. "Discoloration looks NORMAL". They suggested using the FORD Sylvania bulb instead of what I used to replace them with (autozone LL replacement). I bought the bulb from the service counter and replaced it in their parking lot. I put the receipt in the glove box and when it blows again I can take it to the service department and try to convince them there is a problem. Sheesh Normal burning discoloration. While true does not make it right.

  4.

Now, what should i know before purchasing an Edge? what do you wish you knew before buying one?

    I like our Edge.

    Two things to consider:

    1. The AWD have PTU problems (but it looks like a permanent fix is now available).

    2. Get the sun roof. The roof rails are too close together to do much of anything with so if you plan on putting things up top you'll have to go aftermarket anyway.

VERY minor issues but retrospect I would have gone bamr top.

AWD is very different from 4x4 and in Utah you might want to think 4x4 F150.

Now for the question back to you...what mods do you have in mind for the Edge?
