  1. Nice, but something is amiss in the rear and the front. IMO the tail lights are too low, they should more closely follow the side and back creases and hugged the rear window more. In the front the grill and headlights could/should have looked a little more angled like the MKZ's. (yes i know, it's the concept so there may be room for a little change before production)

Too bad there aren't any interior pics yet. Looks like a show stopper, but the EDGE has the edge for me so far.

  2. Lincoln MKX Concept

The Lincoln Motor Company unveiled the MKX Concept at Auto China 2014 in Beijing. The Lincoln MKX Concept hints at a global SUV that will become the third of four all-new Lincoln vehicles due by 2016. It is designed to capture the attention of consumers worldwide. This unveiling in Beijing marks the first time Lincoln has stepped beyond U.S. borders to reveal a concept vehicle. Drawing design inspiration from airplanes and motorbikes, the Lincoln MKX Concept evokes feelings of power and agility, offering a glimpse of the American luxury brand's future as it enters the rapidly growing Chinese market.

Several customer research clinics were held in China and the United States to gather feedback on the design to ensure the final execution would satisfy and delight luxury customers around the world. "Great emphasis was put on the proportions of this concept vehicle," said Andrea Di Buduo, exterior design manager of the Lincoln MKX Concept. "It's a very emotional, athletic design. Its horizontal lines and defined undercuts are gracefully integrated and very sophisticated, yet convey a powerful and dynamic presence."

Intensive study of the Chinese luxury customer over the past few years revealed that a medium premium utility vehicle should express off-road capability and sportiness. Based on that, the MKX Concept includes elements such as a separated front skid plate, heightened ground clearance and reinforced wheel arches. The floating aluminum body-side rocker molding is engraved with the Lincoln logo.

This execution communicates adaptability to different road conditions, combined with crafted execution and attention to detail. Defined by an aerodynamic, sloping teardrop roofline, the Lincoln MKX Concept's modern silhouette lends to its sporty personality, which is highlighted by wide shoulders flanking its recessed rear windows to heighten the design. Dynamic side undercuts, a high beltline and 21-inch machined aluminum wheels further enhance the well-proportioned design.

The roof over the rear was lowered to give the vehicle a sleeker shape. Highlighted by a panoramic glass surface that lets natural light fill the cabin and integrated roof racks, the floating rear spoiler houses the center high-mounted stop light and hides the antenna.

The Lincoln MKX Concept offers a new interpretation of Lincoln's signature full-width taillamps. "Concept vehicles are defined by every design detail," said David Woodhouse, Lincoln design director, "and this MKX Concept shows how Lincoln's thoughtful design philosophy continues to evolve. The Lincoln brand was built on vehicles with stunning design, and the MKX Concept is the latest example."

Lincoln's aggressive signature split-wing grille accentuates the front end. The artistic interpretation of the grille features horizontal lines that continue as strips of LED accent lights below each headlamp. These strips of light glow sequentially as part of Lincoln's updated approach detection feature - one element of the Lincoln Experiences package.

Lincoln Experiences, a technology-driven suite of features introduced on the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC small utility vehicle, is designed to create a warmer, more personal luxury car-owning experience. Anticipating and responding to a driver's needs and preferences, Lincoln Experiences offers a warm embrace that begins as a driver approaches the vehicle and continues upon entry and vehicle start-up.

"The transformation of The Lincoln Motor Company is under way, with sales up 27 percent in the United States over the last six months, due largely to the all-new MKZ sedan, and excitement is building for the soon-to-arrive MKC," said Jim Farley, executive vice president, global Ford marketing, sales and service and Lincoln.

"That momentum continues with this MKX Concept. It demonstrates the design direction for the third all-new vehicle from Lincoln, one that will capture the true essence of the brand - warm and inviting, beautifully styled, and with the promise of engaging technologies that appeal to a younger luxury consumer in a global market."

  4. I am still waiting for a reply, but my partner just sent me these two photos in a brief email just now. I asked him where he saw this new 2015 EDGE and hope to post his reply here soon.

Love the LED ribbon on the rear end. We have been looking at designing something similar for other vehicle brands.

Like maybe the 2007+ Lincoln MKX??? Please oh please oh please!

  5. Why do you think that?

I would say it just the other direction:

They should taken headlights from the actual Taurus and should made the grill a bit more in V-Form

to make the "face" a little bit more sporty and aggressive.

    I would like that.

    Greets

    Marc

Well, with smaller headlights the grill looks too big. So either (I think) they should have enlarged the headlights by half or narrowed the grills by a quarter. That's just me.

The Taurus headlight idea is interesting, I think the same could have been done on the MKX with the headlights from the MKS I think. Either way the grills would have still been a little too large.

  6. hey all

My girlfriend just bought a 2008 Limited after 2 months of us searching and testing everything out there. We went from Mazda 6 to Altima Coupe to Fusion Hybrid, Escape, Outlander etc etc. Prob looked at 15-20 diff cars and test drove 10 or so. In the end she wanted an Edge so we looked at 5 before this one popped up and we got it to the right price. I was a little reluctant to buy it at first as its a "RAV" vehicle. I looked over the Oasis report and the dealer assured me there was nothing there. Details

    2008 Ford Edge Limited AWD

    Black ext, Black leather int

    6 Disc

    Roof

    20" wheels

Im posting up because Im a huge car guy w/ 3 vehicles myself and I belong to 30 or so other forums, so figured I would join up here and check things out for her car too! are there any other Edge forums? I found a couple but they were really dead!

    Take care

You are correct, there are several other sites out there for the EDGE/MKX owner but they are almost dead. This site is almost there itself tho, but it could pick up with news of the 2011s redesigns out there.

Sadly ... if the EDGE/MKX were Japanese or European vehicles I'd bet serious money that the traffic on this site would be substantially higher! (Americans love muscle cars, not so much practical cars and the posting bears that out) There would be waaaaay more pics of vacations/mods/before & afters/wash & waxings with the EDGE/MKX. There would be serious on going discussions of mods to engines, suspensions, electronics, brakes, paint jobs and upholstery. Just to name a few.

Then again ... maybe Ford/Lincoln Mercury got the EDGE/MKX just soooo near perfect that there really isn't much to say or do to it?

I know this much tho ... I have been a Honda fan since I could drive, and have owned several of them as well. BUT, this CUV will be the vehicle to take me out of my Honda and put me into a Ford/Lincoln Mercury for the first time ever and I might not ever look back! (Especially with the ECOBOOST engines coming out next year! :happy feet: Vroom Vroom V8 power while sipping gas like a V6 should! )

  7. No good?

This site isn't as active as you or I would wish it to be. I for one think that the wood panels should be easy to remove. But I speak without any experience. The whole door panel might have to be removed to do so if it isn't just glued on.

I have a question for you ... how wide is the rear cargo area? Would a full 4x8 sheet of plywood fit between the wheel wells?

  8. just picked up this beast and im loving it.....mind you its only day 2....BUT this thing is SICK!

Sync is ridiculous, nav is wicked, vista roof, the leather trimmings everywhere, 20" chromes, etc

I fell in love with the MKX in the middle of 2007.......but this car is virtually the same thing with out the fake woodgrain : P I dont mean that i LOVE the mkx just didnt wanna pony up the extra 11k : )

    pics coming soon!

any info anyone has for me or tips will be greatly appreciated.

    -E

Congrats. I'm holding off to see what the 2010/2011 MKX looks like, but I think a used 2007 MKX is in my future ... I like the wood trim!

  9. Looks like the bustle found on the MKT will be on the MKX as well. I don't know if that's a good design or not. I hear it looks better in person than in pictures. Also as others have noted the same split grill (smiling skull) will be on the MKX as well ... just somewhat smaller, more MKZ or MKS like. (better balanced out)

*** The bustle of the MKT isn't going to be on the new MKX. ***

  10. Agreed!

Funny tho, the MKX brochure has three or four times the pages. I guess it's the difference of a lux brand, but I dunno. I'm used to seeing more pics and pages in these things.

I'm going with a fully loaded GREY 2007 MKX once I'm ready to pull the trigger.

  11. This is my first year for looking at the EDGE/MKX and I am dissapointed with the thin brochure. Were the previous years thin as well. Is Ford saving money or something?

If I were running the advertisement campaign I would offer a contest to EDGE/MKX owners to send in pics of their vehicle somewhere scenic, or being at a fun/interesting event, show it in action, etc. etc. The winners would get their pics used in ads and in the brochure, and maybe free gas/maint. or discounted accessories? Some of the pictures on this site are just as good if not better than the ones in the thin brochure.

Oh yeah, I've narrowed down my decision to a 2007 MKX with everything. Now the color choice (Black, Silver or Grey ... hmmm)

  12. The Edge/MKX siblings are the logical evolution of the Honda CRV. I do see some needed improvements in the Edge/MKX siblings, but they can be overlooked for now. I love the shape and style of both enough to get one (I haven't decided which one tho) over my 15 year loyalty to Honda. I could almost get one of each fully loaded if I bought 2007 models of either instead of getting a fully loaded 2010 MKX! Hmmm :party2: One for work and one for play?

  13. Well, I kind liked the older grill better. The new grill seems a bit too tall and "heavy" for lack of a better word. All they needed to do with the old grill was get rid of the small square (french fry maker) grating and replace it with a thick (diagonal) wire mesh similar to this sketch. The interior dashboard and instrument panel needs updating with more digital flash/splash. Maybe changing the color of the upper dash or the material would lessen the reflection glare in the windshield too.
