  1. So I don't know alot about winter driving, I currently live in Houston, Tx. I am being transferred in January to Buffalo NY, and I am trying to find out what I need to do to prepare my Edge. I only am going to be living up there for a year, so it seems like a waste to buy Winter Tires, but at the same time I want to be safe. Does anyone have a recommendation?

  2. Looks like more and more red-owners are hearing about this. Sippy did start it but Vic is concerned too obviously.

Excellent spy work 07 (thought that was pretty funny...spy...07...I just kill myself sometimes).

I'm with you shawty...about the black belt team name...I find it interesting that they call it black belt - as if in an attempt to coverup the problems with the red ones.

Little did they know that...now...black ones are starting to pop up with problems.

A Black Belt is a recognition within Six Sigma Manufacturing. Six Sigma is a process in which manufacturing companies try to reduce the variability within the production process. Simple put, to prevent defects instead of detecting defects.

  3. Please tell me.....where did people like you go to bitch about nothing before there was the internet and forums??? Did you drive the service advisors completly nuts?? Do you just not understand that when it is raining/snowing/foggy so badly that you can't see out the window, you either PULL OVER, or STAY HOME. Jesus H Christ!!!!! Also, if you are seeing cats and dogs fall out of the sky, I would suggest that you either stay off the acid, or adjust your medications.

Wow, I think you took that negative pretty fast. I don't believe I was bitching, I was asking other people who drive the Ford Edge if they have noticed the same thing. I haven't taken it to a Dealer because I didn't believe it was a problem with just my Edge, but I wanted to see if anyone else had noticed it. I made this comment because in the same storm, I had difficulty seeing out the window and the person in front of me did not.

This forum has been a place for people who are interested in the Ford Edge or who own a Ford Edge to ask questions relating to them, not for people to bash other people for asking questions. Please bear that in mind the next time you feel the need to make this kind of comment.

  4. I got the cargo management system when I ordered my Edge. The default Edge just has a styrofoam shell around the spare tire underneath the rear floor. The cargo management system replaces the styrofoam insert with a plastic insert that gives you "some" hidden storage space.

What does this system look like and where does it go? I have something by my spare tire......but it wasn't on the list of options......I am wondering if I have one though.

    thanks.

  5. On the limited, when they say power side mirrors, do they also power fold, or just power adjust?

    Anyone know? Thanks.

I have the SEL + and assuming they are the same mirrors, they just power adjust. However, the mirrors can be programmed in addition to the seat settings. So when I drive, I press setting 1 and both the seat and the mirrors move to where I have them. I find that feature to be pretty cool.

  6. check out these two videos of the 2008 EDGE. An inside/out tour of the EDGE, highlighting the power lift gate and red insert leather on seats. Then click on the video of the SYNC. really cool demo of how it works using voice commands. :happy feet:

    Enjoy

    2008 EDGE/SYNC

thanks, that was interesting to see. I thought it was interesting how the power lift gate is just an additional component on the left side of the vehicle in the cubby there. If that's truely all it is, I wonder if that can be come an add on feature for 2007 models.

  7. When I was on my trip, I kept it around 65 to 70mph (I had my wife and little boy). There was times I would get up to about 90-95 when I would pass someone. Most of the time I drive about 70-75 on the freeway. I think the reason I get really good gas mileage is because I don't try to beat everyone off the line. I didn't buy the Edge because I thought it was fast (btw... it isn't), I bought it because of its looks. Everytime I get into by father's corvette (07 Z06, 7.0liter), he reminds me what real power is. Yep, if your picturing it, he bald with the chest hair sticking out of the top of his shirt. But I'll tell ya, I feel stupid every time I step on the gas in my Edge. I love my Edge, but not because of its 265hp. Oh yeah, it's an FWD. I also was reading some previous post about ARCO gas and how it sucks; well, that is the only gas I buy. My advise is just lay off the gas, there is nothing to prove (I'm not directing this to you jeffreybehr). Maybe it will be a different story when ford puts in twin turbos, likely in '09 or next year (read it in a magizine yesterday). They even said that the TT's would run off of the cheap stuff.

    dbe,

I was wondering, do you have your air conditioner running at all? Also, what kind of mileage did you get at first. The mileage your getting is loads better than what I am and I was wondering if it got better over time.

  8. Congrats Ag on the new Edge! I'm sure your enjoying it now, we had our now for over 3 months and still really enjoy it. :hyper:

thanks, it's a blast to drive. I definitely feel like I made the right choice. Unfortunatly with the weather we have been having, it was only clean for about 5 minutes on the outside. O well, I will give it a good wash once the rainy season is over and then I can post some pics.

  9. YEAH RIGHT!!! No way dude, you are not driving an Edge if you are "claiming" 32mpg!!!

While I wish that were a true count, it is not. The conversion is 1 kilometer per liter is equal to 2.352 miles per gallon. This makes his 8.8 equal to about 20.7 mpg.

good call Edgy Girl. I hope my physics prof doesn't look on here, he may try to change my grade

  10. I have a new Creme Brulee Edge. Was disappointed that Ford did not have an option for Door moldings as my garage is tight with 2 cars and we always seem to get door dings.

My dealer said that these are not a Ford accessory. Does anyone know if that is true and if so, is there a aftermarket alternative that will match color 100%?

Not door edge guards, want moldings that go along the mid-height of the door. Thanks!

I have been looking and haven't found a ford version. I have found someone who sells them on ebay, but I haven't decided yet if I want to buy from him. Also, I don't have my edge yet and I want to see how worried I am before I spend the money. Let me know if you find something else, because I can see that being a problem.

  11. I know the owners manual says that this vehicle is capable of being towed four wheels down, but i was wondering if anyone had tried it yet behind an RV or such?

We bought the car not thinking we'd need this feature, but have more recently started thinking about going the RV route in the future. Just so happens the Edge AWD can do that (not sure about the FWD, but cant see why not). I havent read the owners manual in a while, so dont recall if it suggests taking any steps or how you carry this out.

So has anyone done it or have any tips on doing it?

    SIM,

I've been looking at the owners manual online, and from what I can see, it looks like you aren't supposed to tow an AWD unit with the wheels on the ground. The manual I have been looking at is posted on myfordedge.com and here is what it says:

  12. I took it to a shop and it was $35 per window here as well. so $70 total. I have a friend who does this and he has a VERY good tint guy. Make sure you check around, there are some crappy tint people! I think my tint is 35? I can check. I wanted it a little darker than it is so it would match the back. Depending on the angle and sunshine it is actually pretty close.

thanks guys, I feel a lot better now. I have a friend who seemed to think that window tinting would cost upwards of 200. Which I know is not a lot compared to to the price of a car, but is still quite a bit. 70-100 is pretty reasonable. I'm hoping to get my Edge sometime this month and living in the heat of Texas, tinting is the first thing on the to-do list.

I'm tinted. I guess it is a little better than not being tinted. Still hot and takes the AC a while to actually cool things down. (I guess due to the size of the interior)

I would love to tint VERY dark. But almost ANY tint in PA is illegal. (glad I have my tin :shades: ) That is one of these for you slow folks.....

    Jimmerz,

Did you do the windows your self or did you take them to a shop? And would you mind telling me what it costs to tint your windows?

  14. I am glad you Aggies like the Sooner Red Edge, but I prefer my Longhorn Burnt Orange one. Hook'em!

I was wondering if there were any longhorns in this post. i must admit, the first time I saw on ad for the Edge I figured it must have been created by a T-SIP. But I am sure we can both agree that this looks to be a great car, I can't wait to get mine!

  15. Aggie07, are you in B/CS? Where did you order yours?

Class of 91 here. I have mine on order from Appel Ford in Brenham.

    Sheik,

I am in CS, but I am from Houston originally so I ordered mine from Helfman Ford in Houston. I was a little disappointed that there isn't a maron color, but I am hoping red will suffice.

  16. Nuebin,

I ordered my Edge on 5/14, my dealer told me yesterday that I should get it in the Third week of June. So approx 5 weeks from order to delivery, which isn't to bad. As far as the stroller goes, I don't think you will have a problem. I am a college student graduating in Dec. and one of the reasons I bought the Edge is my job will have me moving around often and I liked the amount of storage space.
